The Affiliation Fair

Leading the way back down to the fair, Ryou listened to all the other students standing around and asking the four leaders questions. There were signs that summed up their ideologies and the benefits of joining them but that could be sugar coated in so many different ways it was always best to talk to the one in charge of recruiting them to see what they had to say themselves. The leader themselves had a variety of personalities and some of them didn’t exactly get along with each other.

“Are you already a part of an affiliation?” He asked Diem before he turned around, pretty attentive to his company even if on a task of his own. “My parents aren’t so it’s the first time i’ve heard of some of them.”

The more popular one appeared to be the Naki, the overjoyed but still stuttery rep had brought out his technicat to show the other teens and many cooed about how cute and adorable it was, and how they wanted one so. Ryou couldn’t argue with that, but cats always had quite a way of charming him with their meows for attention and conversation and cute anatomy. Though as cute as it was, it wasn’t the one that drew his interest.

Sitting on one of the tables a brightly colored lizard was resting, maybe a bit more lazy then the others but just as determined as he crawled over to those who came to his table and answered every question their young hearts desired. He had a charm to him, all lizard-like qualities aside. Ryou left the growing group with the robo kitty as he headed over, wanting to read some of the smaller print on the board and see what the little lizard rider had to say. He was clearly an important rider if he was there recruiting other riders, even if many wouldn’t think the same.

Glancing around at the stalls, Diem didn't seem all that enthusiastic to be walking through the crowd. He even gave Ryou a confused look when they pulled his attention by asking about him being part of an Affiliation or not. "Oh, yeah, I've been in the militia for awhile now. They're alright." He didn't have anything bad to say about them other than the boring checkups. That seemed like a perfectly normal and obvious complaint though to the young one that had simply gotten use to them.

Wandering over with Ryou, he adjusted the bag on his shoulder, a couple times debating if he wanted to pull out the journal inside. Getting to wander around and have dinner with the person he hadn't thought he'd ever say so much as a hello to was certainly something deserving to be written on those pages. He was in the struggle over how rude that might come off as though. Diem was hissy at times, but he knew well enough to be nicer towards the people he wanted to befriend.

"The Erre are pretty lax," he explained in a quick handful of words, "As neutral as you'll get out of the four." Even if he knew the most about the militia, it was still part of his curriculum to know about the other factions as well. "Much better than the Naki in my opinion." From what he had learned of the tech loving group, they were the most diverse, but also the most devious of the groups. One could find both the good and the bad ways of life strewn into the Naki in equal amounts.

Humming as Ryou listened, his eyes did draw to the militia where the male was standing, talking rather properly with some kids as he explained all the ways they could become the best and strongest with the help of the militia. Of all the ways they could excel and succeed with their help, a sound thought in theory but something seemed off to him. He didn’t dislike them but he felt no strong connection to them as well. He was indifferent but desired to be a part of one and assist those in need.

“I see, Naki has its charms as well. They just want to help and liberate those who have wrongfully been taken into a life they don’t desire.” He didn’t have a desire to join them either though, as cute as the cat was. “They do have a cute little kitty too.”

Continuing over to the table where Erre information was being handed out, he paused at the table to pick up one of the papers, the small lizard heading over to stare at the blue incubus as he read it over. A sweet smile coming over his face.

‘Are you interested in joining?’ Blinking, Ryou smiled at the telepathically questioned entering his mind as the lizard’s lips didn’t move.

“I’ve had thoughts about it, I do love the neutrality of the Erre. Helping those who need it while on travels, meeting new people along the way, learning, tending to creatures, it all sounds so lovely and full of adventures.” Mostly musing out loud to himself, Ryou was so much sweeter than he looked. Innocent and full of the slight naivety that wanted to help all that he could. “Ah, I'm sorry, I must be rambling on.”

‘No, no! That is the mindset we do like. So very odd for such a young rider, so young.’ Holding out his hand to shake, as the small lizard hand was placed in his he was careful as he wasn’t sure if the lizard like body was still fragile like it normally would.

“I think I’m very interested in joining then.” The conversation to follow was rather basic, calm, as Ryou asked about visiting and such but was more than happy to join the group set on helping those in need while being on decent terms with everyone. Everyone could be his friend, or enemy, but he liked the more positive side of things.

Squinting at the other table, Diem was not one to be lulled over by 'a cute little kitty'! No matter how much he actually did want to go over to look at it and pet the strange mechanical creature. Perhaps if it were a real one he wouldn't be able to resist. Shaking his head, he glanced back to his new companion who was surprisingly chatty. Not in that rambling annoying way like they seemed to be apologizing for, but in a way that was nice to listen to.

Ryou was so.. different from what he had been expecting. Guess that was what he got for only seeing those bad confessions behind the school. Diem wasn't very interested in the talk about the Erre group. While it might be one he would join as well if he had a choice in the matter, he didn't, and he wasn't planning on upsetting his mother even more either.

This did give him the perfect opportunity to pull out his journal so the other could freely chat away without worrying about him. Fishing around for a pen, Diem seemed perfectly content standing and writing as he made some quick notes about the 'popular kid' who turned out to be sweet and adventurous.

Though young and not fully understanding the affiliations in total, that by no means meant Ryou wasn’t full of questions for the dragon master who may have not been ready for how much curiosity the younger then he looked male was full of. Questions about creatures he could encounter, the types of people he could find in traveling, the rep’s favorite moments since being a part of it all, how his dragons handled it.

If it wasn’t for Dina who was starting to hunger he could have gone on so much longer too. But thankfully for everyone involved she popped her head out, touching the young blue incubus’s face with her little hands as he stopped and looked over to her as she cooed so softly at him with her big eyes that asked so nicely for food without words.

“Ah, it looks like it’s getting late. I’m sorry I’ve kept you so long.”

‘No... worries...’ The small yellow gecko climbed back over to his piles of papers. Tired out by all the talking and questions Ryou asked and was almost sure there would be no end in sight. But young ones were young ones.

“I look forward to visiting! And meeting the others!” With that though, he said goodbye to Spero-mar, looking over to DIem who was making notes in his book. “Are you ready to go Diem? I know a curry place close to where I stay on the weekdays, there is a spicy noodle special today too.”

Having run out of things to write at first, Diem glanced up worried for a moment that he might have been left behind by Ryou after getting lost in his journal for a bit there. There seemed to be no worry about that though as the other still chatted along, giving the cat oooone more thing to note about the blue haired rider; they were surprisingly inquisitive.

He didn't really mind waiting either. Even as the sun moved a little more across the sky, it was still sooner than he normally had dinner prepared by. Plus that small snack earlier was helping to hold him over.

It seemed that a certain someone was much hungrier than him though, a little hand coming out to boop Ryou until the other gave in and started saying long goodbyes to the erre. Honestly Diem wasn't really keeping his expectations that high for whatever they had planned for dinner; most kids didn't like the spicy foods like he did, but once again Ryou was full of surprises. Ears straightening straight on up at the thought of a special on spicy noodles, he was definitely going to be forgiving them with this dinner. "Yeah, I'm ready. Lead the way."
