Insider's Look Into Personality

Raiden has a thirst for adventure with a strong wish to be free to do whatever he wants while also not wanting to take away other's freedom. His sense of caution is not the greatest in the world as shown by his tendency to walk into potentially harmful situations with a cocky grin on his face. This is not to say he’s stupid. He is aware that there is some things that he should and should not do that has been taught to him by his adopted parents. The best way to explain his thought process is by relating it to the fact that he’s childish. It should be noted that one of the male’s most critical flaws is his cockiness. He is very proud of his own power and his heritage, often citing how you shouldn’t mess him since he comes from the best clan around. His cockiness has lead to him to develop a form of stubbornness that Pokemon often pointed out in terms of his behavior. His cockiness is also what leads to the male in getting into trouble and receive the occasional scolding from Lucius. This has shown to be an issue when it comes to battle as there are times where he has a hard time working with the strategies created by people as he may feel he had a more constructive idea in mind.

Much like a child, the male can be extreme greedy of certain things such as food and adventure. However, at the same time, he can also be extremely selfless, going so far as to virtually sacrifice himself to protect those he cares about. This childish mentality of his allows him to get to the root of the problem and gets those like Lucius to understand that not all Pokemon are truly selfish. In some ways, this selflessness does stem from his adoration for heroes. In his eyes, a hero is one that everyone looks up to that others praise for their heroic deeds. His craving for wanting to be a hero stems from his desire for acknowledgement for his deeds. He dreamed that one day people would recognize him more than being a child that needs to lean on other people’s shoulder to get moving. He understands that achieving this a long, arduous and almost impossible path with how he acts. However, he pushes through this by never going back on his word. This serves as the cornerstone of hist self-confidence; he believes he can accomplish any goal with enough hard work and perseverance, no matter how big the obstacle is or how long it takes to accomplish it.

Summary of Appearance

Raiden takes the form of a quadruped, mammalian Pokémon that resembles a herding dog. His body is covered is covered in dark gray fur with a light gray ruff around his neck. His ears ears are large and pointed at the tip. His eyes are shown to large and red; and his small nose is black. Black eye dots rest above his eyes that can be easily mistaken as being eyebrows due to their position. His has slender legs and small paws, each with three toes and a black paw pad. His tail is shown to be puffy and short. Unlike most of his kind, his fur is shown to rather smooth and fluffy, rather than spiky. The lack of quills on this guy has lead Pokemon to mistake this male as being a larger Eevee despite his lack of a tail similar to the normal type. Wrapped around his neck is a red scarf with two 'tails'.

  • Raiden lacks the spiky fur that Jolteon tends to have due to inheriting a bit more of his pre-evo fur texture.
  • Due to a incident later on, Raiden would later receive a mega evolution.
  • It is largely unclear where he gets the eye dots on his face from as it's not present in his biological parents.
  • He does have a scar on his front left paw that he received from a battle with a clan member he fought in his village. He would receive a new scar later down the line across his left eye.

Story

Summary

Stock Shonen Hero. This hero can be best described as being a big-hearted, energetic Kid Hero. They have a natural gift that blows others out of the water. On the rare occasion he loses, they'll train so hard that with his strength will watch the ones they wish to overcome. They takes pride in his strength, but their true power comes from their friends. For as strong they are physically, they got an equally strong sense of justice. They'll go out of his way to help complete strangers, sometimes show mercy on their enemies, and always stand up and speak out for what's right. This character is one that Raiden strives to be. This is one that he often associates to what it means to be a hero.

Raiden is the adopted brother of Ronin that has spent most of his life in the Village of Kaiyō. Known to be childish and cocky, when asked about the other traits related to the male, Pokemon often cite how he can be adventurous at times. The male's thirst for adventure seem to stem from his curious nature he had as a child that ended up sticking with him as he grew up. Because of this adventurous nature, he tends to avoid taking 'the easy way out' at times and tends to always end up in a situation that could be avoided if he kept his nose out of other's business. However, the male has never been given to be be as adventurous as he would like due to being stuck in a village that practiced caution and discouraged the idea of being too adventurous as it can lead to problems.

And to think, all of that would change when he met Lucius. Through he learned the two were a bounded pair known as 'The Regnum'. Bounded Pairs were supposedly two or more fated individuals that were supposedly meant to be together for eternity as the 'Gods' have chosen it. Those bounded are considered bless as a result. However, very few realize they are bounded pair as there are very few that exist in the world. Not only that but information about bounded pairs is quite scarce so it was hard to know what benefits and hindrances it had to offer.

Raiden doesn't fully understand the concept of Bounded Pair. However, he is willing to do anything to save Lucius from drowning into his void of solitary.

The History of a Hound

Eevee are a rather rare species of Pokémon. Often praised for their enchanting appearance and their ability to evolve into several elemental forms, it is very rare to find these normal Pokémon outside of the civilizations. This is due to the sheer fact Eevee are not the type that really wish to taint themselves to the lower classes. The Eevee Line is a species of royalty. While pureblooded Eevee (and their lines) are more heavily praised, those who possess blood in their veins are bound to be worshiped for their beauty. In the rich, you are bound to at least meet of these Pokemon. It is due to that reason alone, a unmarried Eevee (or any within their line) are often sought for. Not only that but the children of this line are very much the first to be adopted if they end up in the orphanage.

In some cities, this has led to a hatred for the line to the point there has been stories of people chasing any that would enter their civilization. In their eyes, they felt assaulted that a specific line of Pokemon were viewed as being special due to appearance and ability. Granted, even if the Eevee Line didn’t exist, this would presumably be a thing for another species but the point still stand. This prejudice had lead to quite a bit scuffle. While it is becoming a bit less of a issue with Eevee Line slowly floating into lower classes, it is a thing that still exists. Perhaps this prejudice is why Aysun and Wynter had decided to give their only egg to the Gekkouga Clan.

Aysun and Wynter were two Eeveelutions that had their first egg accidently at a young age. Living in the place where their line weren’t exactly viewed in the positive light, the two realized that raising their own in this environment wasn't going to work. Combined with the fact their family was not aware of their relationship, they fear the possibity of them possibly harming their child. This is not even including the fact they didn’t know what it means to raise a child due to their young age. With much thought, the two decided it would be best to give away their child. However, they didn’t want to give their child to just anyone. After all, the last they wanted is their child to be mistreated or be used as being trophy child for all to see. It is due to that reason they spent a full month searching for a potential caretaker(s) for their child. After much searching and what not, they eventually stumbled upon the Village of Kaiyō within the Seikatsu Forest. In this village was the Gekkouga Clan, a clan consisting of primarily Pokémon from the Froakie Line. The two were made aware that the clan looked down on those outside of their clan after talking to a few clan members outside. It was disappointing as they thought this could be a good place for their child to grow up.

Just as they were about to leave, they ended up meeting Namako. Namako, a Gastrodon/Pyukumuku hybrid, was a kind, older man. He invited the two inside of his home and offered them a chance to talk to him. Unlike those in the clan, Namako wasn’t too bothered by outsiders and always enjoyed chatting to them. Through their conversation, Ayson and Wynter informed Namako about wishing to give their child a home as they were unable to properly take care of him. In what was an unexpected turn of events, Namako offered to take care of the child. Of course, Namako reassured them that he did understand how to raise kids, having raised two at this point. After much debating between the two, the two finally made their decision: Namako would be the official caretaker of their child. So when the young Eevee burst out of the egg, the normal type would accept Namako and Kazumi (his wife) as being his parents.

The Eevee never had an official name. This is mostly due to the fact Namako and Kazumi were unsure if they could give him a proper name due to not knowing what he would evolve into. However, they did call him ‘Vee’ to try to avoid having to call him ‘you’ or ‘little one’ too often. Being the youngest and quite weak for what he was, his adopted parents were careful in terms of raising him. They didn’t want to end up possibly doing something that would lead to the male being harm in some way. In some respects, he was spoiled when compared to his other siblings. Of course, it did lead to a few squabbles here and there but the family did do their best to ensure that didn’t get in a way.

However, Namako and Kazumi knew they couldn’t baby Vee forever. Eventually, the male was going to have to leave and start his own family at some point. As such, they started to weave in responsibilities to the male and started training him. It was bit of a struggle, but Vee was starting to slowly get a handle of it. Though the training itself seem to really excite him especially when he learned he could evolve into one of several forms. Of course, Namako and Katsumi had to remind him that he needed to be careful which form he choose as he would end up being that forever.

However, the male was already set on what he wanted to be the moment the opportunity came for him to evolve. That opportunity came when the male was 10. Namako and Kazumi had decided it was time to present Vee the items that Vee used to evolve. They had taught the male what each evolution had to offer and were ready to try again at a different time if Vee felt he wasn’t ready. However, Vee already had a evolution he wanted. It had been one he constantly thought of whenever he watched his siblings zipped around. It was one that he always find to be fascinating due to the nature of what it was. With his small paws, he touched down on the rock with a lightning bolt on it and evolved into the electric Eeveelution: a Jolteon.

Upon his evolution, both Namako and Kazumi realized the name Vee did not suit the name of their adopted son. With that in mind, they decided it was best to give him a new one to reflect his transformation: Raiden.

Since his evolution, Raiden has been gifted responsibilities to that best suited his age. They weren’t anything too special or heavy to deal with as he was certainly not going to become a clan leader. Raiden himself wasn’t too bothered by that as it meant he had quite a bit of freetime to himself. Through the years, he watched the village around him changed and even witness the sad departure of his brother (Ronin) as the male was exiled. However, he soon grew bored of being in the village. He wanted to see more of the village beyond the walls they were surrounded in. He wanted to learn more about the outside world. He wanted to be able to see his brother again.

And to think, all of that would change the moment he met Lucius.

Fighting style

Much his brother, Raiden's fighting style can be best described as being akin to a rouge from DnD. While he may not be very methodical compared to his partner, the young man makes up for that by being very creative with the things he is able to do. The only true limitation is what his mind is capable of thinking of. With a high special attack, Raiden makes great use of his speed to fire fast ranged attacks while weaving through various attacks sent his way. It helps that he is able to heal whatever moves he receive by using Thunderbolt on himself while using Volt Absorb. Alongside this, Raiden has decent special defense, allowing the male to be able to withstand a good chunk of special attacks. His health, defense and attack are not the greatest in the world. In fact, he has to be careful in terms of dealing with physical attackers as one hit from them can knock his health down by a considerate amount. Due to being a speedy electric type, he also possess high stamina to support his speed and his ability to keep fighting. He would later gain access to mega evolution. However, given the nature of this form, it will be quite some time before he can master the use of it.

Strengths

  • Comes with a higher level of speed
  • Very creative with attacks
  • Can heal himself with electricity and boost stats with them
  • Comes with a diverse movepool

Weaknesses

  • Can't take a physical move well
  • Can get really overconfident
  • Can become overcharged if he absorbs too much electricity
  • Hasn't fully mastered his mega evolution form
Volt Absorb [Ability]
Natural Ability

Difficulty
Mastery

Raiden carries a ability that very few Pokemon have access to. It's not a rare ability, but Raiden likes to shout that it's one of the few one of the Legendary Gods have. This ability is no other than Volt Absorb. Volt Absorb allows for Raiden to absorb a damaging or status Electric-type move. Once absorbed, the Pokemon's health is restored by one quarter of his maximum health. It should be noted that due to this, electric moves will have no effect on him, giving Raiden an immunity of electric moves. Raiden tend to often uses this as an advantage by thunderbolting himself to heal back any serious damage he took. Volt Absorb will not activate if the Raiden is protected from the Electric-type move.

Thunderbolt
Learned Skill

Difficulty
Mastery

Thunderbolt is a damaging special Electric-type move that he learned through a technical machine he received as a gift from one of his old mentors. Thunderbolt is the main move that Raiden often used in battle due to how quick the male can use it and the fact it is his only STAB move. To use this move, Raiden releases a powerful bolt of yellow electricity from his body at the opponent. Yellow sparks often appear around his body as a indicator that he is about to use the move in question. As mention before, Raiden sometimes uses this move on himself to heal himself through his Volt Absorb. Besides that though, it should be noted that this move does have a small chance of paralyzing the enemy.

Shadow Ball
Learned Skill

Difficulty
Mastery

Shadow Ball is a damaging special Ghost-type move that Raiden learned through a technical machine he received as a gift from Lucius in 'celebration' of the union as a Bounded Pair. It is a move that Raiden is still in process of learning. To use this move, Raiden opens his mouth as a black and purple ball formed in front of it. Pushing energy through his body, he then fires it at the opponent. Raiden doesn't honestly see the point of this move besides the fact it is one of the few moves he knows that can hurt Lucius. Oh as well as the fact it has a 20% chance of lowering the target's Special Defense. Due to not caring about the move, this is probably the reason why he's taking his sweet time in actually getting the move down.

Hidden Power (Ice)
Learned Skill

Difficulty
Mastery

Hidden Power is a damaging special Normal type-move that he learned through a technical machine that his adopted father gave him as a birthday gift. It should be noted that this move is tailored to be a Ice-type for Raiden. To use this move, Raiden forms a light blue ball of energy in front of his mouth. He then thrusts the ball at the opponent. Due to the fact this move is a ice type, the ball of energy explodes into a burst of cold air and ice needles. Raiden finds this move to be really useful as it does allow him to take care of ground types. Due to that, this is one of the moves that Raiden often finds himself using and spent most of his time focusing on mastering as it's one of the moves he had the longest.

Signal Beam
Learned Skill

Difficulty
Mastery

Signal Beam is a damaging special Bug-type move that that he learned through a technical machine he 'borrowed' from a friend. Signal Beam is a move that Raiden uses occasionally. There are two ways for Raiden to use Signal Beam. The first way involves a white ball forming in front of Raiden's mouth before a rainbow colored beam surged from the ball at the opponent. The second way involves Raiden's eyes glowing white and he firing a rainbow colored beam from them at the opponent. He tend to often use the first way more so than the second way. Signal Beam also comes with the added effect of having a chance of potentially confusing the enemy if hit.

Focus Blast
Learned Skill

Difficulty
Mastery

Focus Blast is a damaging special Fighting-type move that that he learned from a Raichu that he stumbled upon. This is not normally a move that a Jolteon should be able to learn. However, that didn't stop Raiden from doing so. When used, Raiden raises his head up as a light blue orb of energy from above it. As the orb expands, he then jumps and proceeds to toss the orb at the opponent. This move is one of Raiden's strongest moves, though it comes at the cost of not being his most accurate. As such, you will only see Raiden use this move if he's certain that he will hit his target and he feels that he's pushed into a corner. He can't use this move back to back as it can drain him quite a bit.

Toxic
Learned Skill

Difficulty
Mastery

Toxic is a status special Poison-type move that that he learned from one of his fellow clan members in the village. For Raiden to use it, he simply has to release a stream of purple liquid from his mouth that badly poisons whoever it makes contact with. Of course, those with Immunity, poison types and steel types are spared of this. This is a move that very few expect Raiden to have as one would assume that he would have a entire offensive moveset with his personality. It's something that Raiden takes advantage off. When it comes to badly poison Pokemon, Raiden enjoys that the damage that those Pokemon take is much higher than if you regularly poison a Pokemon. It makes it so much easier for Raiden to drain them as much as possible.

Inventory

Expert Belt

Raiden's prize possession is his 'Expert Belt'. This item is one that he brought with his older brother, Ronin, when they were young. This belt is one that represents his bond between his brother and acts as a constant reminder for him. Raiden constantly wears this item around his neck. When worn, this item slightly boosts the power of supereffective moves. If Raiden were to use a move with a type advantage against another, it would be powerful.

Kunai

Now you wouldn't expect a Jolteon to carry around a random kunai in his bag espesically if your name is Raiden. However, this is shown to be quite necessary! Well...at least if you ask Raiden. The kunai is a parting gift that he received from his family prior to leaving his village. While he may be a special attacker, Raiden does keep this around if he needs to stab anyoene that gets too close to him, and he lacks the focus to use his moves.

Trivia

General

  • Raiden was originally going to be a Eevee that can change to other Eeveelution lines though a ability that change him based on what move he had.
  • Raiden was planned to be a side character. This changed with the creation of Lucius.
  • I went with the most anime name possible when it came to Raiden's name.

Combat

  • Writing out Raiden's fighting style took way too long to work out since I couldn't word it properly.
  • I did borrow elements of Zap here when it came to putting together how I wanted this boy to fight.
  • I mostly took elements of a fight that I had Raiden in with Sabrewoif.

Social

  • Raiden's age has been something that I now finally settled on.
  • Raiden was originally going to be a Idiot Hero. However, I decided against that since I felt it was unfair to his character.
  • Behavior-wise, I tried to take some inspiration of how dogs tend to act in terms of how he moves and reacts to certain things.

Design

  • Raiden wasn't intended to be as fluffy as he was. In fact, it only happened because people just start drawing him like that.
  • I based his colors on his brother's colors since I felt that would be a neat touch.
  • It was Raiden who gave me the idea that he and his brother would have Expert Belt as scarves that they commonly wear.

Raiden didn't want to admit it but when he first saw Lucius, he had a crush on him. It was his appearance that made Raiden attracted to the demigod. Over time, the male started to appreciate the other aspects of the male: his personality, his intelligence and even the way he fights. It didn't help the Silvally was actually willing to open up more to the male during their journey together to help Lucius' regain his forgotten memories. Lucius allowed Raiden to be able to truly go through the process of what it means to fall in love with someone and the ways it can affect the way you think and the way your love affects you.

Raiden doesn't harbor a ounce of hatred for those of the Gible line. He feels like he should, but he finds it very hard to do so. In Raiden's eyes, he views these Pokemon as being cool and honestly quite fun to challenge. As such, it's no surprise that he is actually quite fond of Ryujin. Ryujin isn't quite as aggressive as you think he should be for a feral. At least in Raiden's eyes. Most of the time, he finds himself riding on the shoulders of the dragon as he trails after Lucius. Raiden never thought that Lucius would actually go along with the idea of adopting Elliot. He's not as great at raising him when compared to Lucius. After all, he's still learning how to take care of himself. However, he tries his best in making sure that Elliot feels loved and safe with them. Honestly, he acts more like a older brother to him than a actual father.

Leaving Jasper and Raiden together in a room by themselves is a terrible. It's not because they will fight if they're left together. Oh no. The two get along quite well. In fact, they get along too well. You see the problem is that the two often pull pranks when they're with each other. These pranks are often so concerning and dangerous that it often leads to Ronin and Lucius being forced to clean up whatever mess the two of them make. Raiden cares deeply for his nephew and often enjoys spending time with him running around and testing his speed. Raiden has been guiding Haruto away from very harmless pranks for his brothers sake.
