Profile

“I don’t know your gender. I don’t know your race. I don’t know your nationality. Empathy shouldn’t require any of those things.”

Cecilia isn’t nicknamed “Queen of the Elementals” for nothing! She can adapt to any situation, wearing a variety of her best traits. In fact she is a little too willing to conform to what others want out of her at the expense of her well-being. She keeps it together under pressure long after everyone else has given in. It is hard to set her off, but when she gets angry, she cannot be reasoned with. Her kindness toward all living creatures is exceptional, and comes without conditions. She makes friends easily and will happily get to know people who approach her. She tries very hard to please everyone. Her belief in the inherent good in everyone has led to a fair share of betrayals. Her most famous sets of personality traits are based on carbon’s many allotropes. Her most common form, and the one she finds the most comfortable, is graphite. In her graphite form Cecilia is emotionally open and flexible, friendly but hard-working. In her rarer diamond form, Cecilia is harsher and rigid in her ideas, breaking before she bends. While she tries to hide her feelings, others say they can “see right through her”. She is more focused and better at managing her emotions, which is why she adopts diamond-like traits under stress. In her even rarer fullerene form, she is hard-working, excellent under pressure, and sticks to her principles unless logically persuaded. Her emphasis on logic causes her to disregard emotion. Her glassy form is similar to graphite, but less flexible and more resilient. Her lonsdaleite form surfaces under trauma and is even more rigid than diamond form. In her Q-carbon form she is claimed to have a magnetic personality, but few people have seen this. She enjoys fine dining but will eat literally anything, and she also likes barbecuing; she really likes burnt food. She likes drawing and calligraphy, and writes poems and short essays to accompany her artwork. She also draws up intricate plans for potential buildings, as she is interested in architecture. She also works on building projects on a smaller scale, such as constructing common household objects. She tries to be friendly with all the Elementals, but is especially close to the “life essentials”: herself, Hannah, Octavia, Nettie, Phoebe, and Sadie. She is good friends with Bea due to shared interests, and with Sigrid for a similar reason; their relationship is sibling-like. She hangs out and pretends to fight with many metals. Her relationship with Ferris is one of mutual respect and encouragement. She is closest to her girlfriend Hannah, and the two will (figuratively and literally) bond over everything.

Physical Appearance

Short, at 147 cm (4’10”). Thin, with long legs, four digits on each hand and foot. Very curvy, “bottom” hourglass figure. Oval face with round, slightly receding chin. Dark brown-black skin tone with orange undertones. Orange eyes with long eyelashes. Wide, rounded nose. Two clusters of four black dots each, arranged in a square, on her cheeks. Hexagonal tight curly shoulder-length black hair. Usually wears a gray long-sleeve shirt with diagonal lines forming diamonds on it, with a white “C” on the right sleeve and a white “6” on the left sleeve, gray pants with hexagons on them, purple socks, light brown boots, and a diamond necklace.

Design Notes

Cecilia’s design is all round, as she is one of the nicest Elementals. However, her hairdo’s more squarish character reflects her practicality. Her black hair and valence marks are the color of graphite; her gray shirt and pants are also the color of graphite (and tend to be traditionally colored with a graphite pencil) while providing contrast with her dark skin and hair. The hexagon pattern on her pants represents the crystal structure of graphite, and the diamond pattern on her shirt that of diamond. Her orange eyes and necklace come from the orange flame produced by the incomplete combustion of carbon-containing fuels. Her diamond necklace is obviously another reference to diamond. Her brown boots with green laces reflect carbon’s vital role in all life, and carbon dioxide’s importance to photosynthesis. Her purple socks and soles are the color of buckminsterfullerene solutions.

-Don't forget her valence marks (on her cheeks) or the "C" and "6" on her shirt!

-She has four-fingered hands.

-She has long legs (though her reference exaggerates that a bit).

-She wears purple lipstick.

-DON'T whitewash her or her features. Her hair is curly!

-Her curls are hexagonal prisms, not cylinders.
