Guy who paints

Personality
"If you ever need to chill out with someone, I'm always here. All of my musing spaces are quite peaceful, you know."

Unlike the jovial and almost concerningly sweet Takanohana, Midosuji is more content and down to earth with his surroundings and others, if not a bit too passionate about his hobbies. Painting is his obsession, and always tries to scout out landscapes of Kanzakai or people as muses, though people commonly give him fearful or strange stares because of his straightforward wording along with his intimidating appearance. He is overall a relaxed man, as long as you don't judge him by his cover and allow him to get close to you. Though, you might commonly be used as his muse if you do.

He sometimes deals with feelings of emptiness and concerns of his own self. He has no clue why he is passionate for painting, why he does it all without real thought, and wonders if he has a greater purpose than this. He sometimes worries about his past life and if there is a reason to why he clings onto these vague passions. He eventually comes to terms with the fact that even if he'll likely never know his past in detail or why he paints so naturally, he accepts that he is fine not knowing why, because what matters most is that he is happy doing it and feels a sense of excitement and fun in it all. Whatever the source of this only memory may be, it makes him feel human, and he is greatful that he was able to keep this lingering mysterious passion. It has connected him with the people he is close with now, and he realizes that he is appreciated.

Intelligence
Charisma
Confidence
Humor
Empathy
Patience

  • He is so terrible at humans. Don't let him paint you. Unless you want something to laugh at but that is so mean?
  • He likes men. He likes VERY big men. He likes Takanohana. That's what I'm trying to say here.
  • Outside of painting, he also enjoys going to festivals, flower viewings, and watching tennis games (more specifically, Kanon's tennis games. He is quite supportive of her endeavors!)
  • Miku likes to make art with him (mostly genuinely, but sometimes there's a motive to ask alien related questions.) They tend to do beadwork together.
  • The room he and Takanohana live in together tends to be very messy because of him. All those paint materials are a disaster sometimes!
  • When he was a human, he had one of his fingers sawed off. This, funnily enough, did not come to him with the grave.
  • When Mido sleeps, his thought processes mimic nonsensical dreams humans have, and is the most accurate in doing so. Parasite Voids are able to think about anything they want to purposefully during "rest," outside of Hime Project, who rest exactly like humans, so this is an influence from Mido's host family.

Backstory

As a human, Midosuji was an ex-yakuza member. During this time, he was a hardened man who was focused on nothing but his missions, desperate for cash so he can survive yet another month. However, he would retire due to accidentally killing an innocent, as well as having to hurt one of his own members for betrayal. Knowing that he could easily fall back into poverty, he still left to pursue a calmer lifestyle, with his morals now restored. He became incredible at painting, as a scapegoat to release himself of all the crimes he had committed...except he sucks at humans for some reason. He is eventually hunted down by his old gang and is left with the only choice of fleeing his home and wandering the night to find a place to stay temporarily. Unfortunately, the night turns into a hollow one, and Midosuji found himself sucked into the realm and promptly overpowered by the Voids, turning into one himself. Once captured by the lab, he is not really experimented on because he’s allegedly not too thrilling or game-changing in terms of potential, thus is considered a last resort. He is stored in the Void stasis room until whenever he is theoretically needed. He is eventually recovered by Nodoka and Hitoki during a scour of the abandoned lab.

His passion for painting carries onto his Void life, but he doesn't know why he does it. He eventually gets reassured that even if he doesn't know his purpose, he's appreciated nonetheless. His host is a college aged millennial hipster girl named Kanon, daughter of the wacky Enomoto Family.

Relationships
"So many lovely people. Many make lovely muses too...hm."

"Ah, right! Taka is my main man, of course. He's a good guy to hang with, a greater muse for my projects, a reliable friend to hang on to, and he...always seems to be on the front of my mind. I-I would hate to burden him with these strange feelings, though. I'll keep it to myself for now..."

Taka and Mido consider themselves as each other's best friends. There is no bond in Kanzakai that gets more manly, yet so full of compassion and love as this one. They are never afraid to show each other and the world how their friendship runs so deep. If these two are in the room, they're definitely hamming it up together and never seem to have a topic they CAN'T talk about. They're transparent for each other, and always look to each other for guidance on how they feel they should go around with navigating this new and strange world, especially being under the same crazy host family. A lot of the love they display always seems to be in boastful affirmations towards each other, or sometimes they even physical measures! Are we...sure they're just friends? Ah well, Taka seems to think so, but I think Mido has been thinking of something beyond a friendly type of love...Just look at how he blushes whenever he paints him or hugs him! Hopefully he'll find the courage...!

Spoiler: He does!

"'I'm rooting for ya'? 'Go get 'em'? What are you trying to say, Waka? Are you crazy? I couldn't possibly burden him with all this! (blush)"

Waka and Mido are pretty alright friends; they're an expected friendship, given Waka and Taka's own close relations. Mido sometimes doesn't understand her thought processes, and even can find them quite greedy in nature, but he finds charm in it. He can tell Waka means no harm and is aware that her intentions are to find self worth in herself and to inspire self worth into others, even if her methods and "you only live twice" impulses are questionable. Waka is always pushing Mido to finally go for what his heart wants. And, well, what his heart wants is the man that both are tied to...

"A very good friend, and an excellent muse, though his posing can be a bit stiff. He is also a bit quiet, I do hope he can be more open with me, he's always welcome to."

Mido and Ouka are on good terms. They typically have calm and relaxing talks about any human events coming up and general lifestyle conversation. Mido thinks he is an excellent muse too, from his body type to his relatively gentle looks, especially when positioned with a bunch of scenery, though he seems a bit nervous. Mido cares about him and awaits the day that Ouka feels comfortable to open up about deep rooted feelings.

host, family

"Kanon is a very special girl! I'm always rooting for her."

Kanon and Mido have a very grandfather-granddaughter dynamic. They love each other like family, and are extremely casual with each other. A lot of modern knowledge Mido has likely can be traced back to Kanon schooling him. Mido is always looking out for her physical and mental health, and cheers her on with her endeavors with the future tennis career she strives for. Maybe to an obnoxious degree. Expected of an old man...

"(E-Err, I mean, there's so much emotion and heart in the way he acts, and he's fantastic at voice acting an entire story by himself, it's impressive! But using dead bugs and taxidermied animals as the actors, ahh, I don't think that's normal behavior for a playwright or anyone, I'm sure.)

While Laos thinks of him as a good friend, Mido thinks of him more of a general colleague. Mido thinks Laos is exceptionally talented in his work as an actor and playwright, and enjoys having someone to talk to that understands the passion art invokes. But, uh, the bugs and dead animals being used AS his actors...makes him sweat some bullets, and the way Laos moves them around like horror movie porcelain dolls doesn't help. Mido understands he's not in a position to become a professional anymore, but there has to be better ways to go about this, right? Laos might be a good person, but Mido isn't afraid to admit he's scary.

"Ahh, this guy. He's rough on the edges, but he clearly cares about people. He's just too up his behind to show it, haha! Very nice guy after that, very nice."
