A gentle, physically affectionate man that is as calming as a series of waves on a beach. Perhaps, even a little too gentle and friendly. While he loves all people around him, he will not hesitate to punish those who hurt and threaten others. The punishment is a bit frightening, but he's kind of dreamy, don't you think? In the past, he was a benevolent fighter in an unknown clan, and fought for the peace of his people.
While Takanohana has the strength to break a human into a toothpick, and has one of the most intimidating appearances out of all the Voids, Taka is nothing more but a jolly, happy-go-lucky, and lovable old man. He loves...love, and believes that justice will prevail through anything, always doing anything to help out a person in need, with nothing but a smile on his face. While he makes people nervous at first, once his benevolence sets in, everyone in the room is instantly drawn in to his energy. Everyone always relies on him for any task, be it menial labor, physical labor, or just to have someone to talk to. His positivity is an endless fountain, but this is also his biggest flaw.
While Taka is a sweet soul, he seems to be oblivious and lacks the concept of a grey area, and seems to think life is only black and white. When Taka was corrupted, only one piece of dialogue stayed with him: "Rid the evil, and the good of justice lives another day." Taka tends to take this quite literally, as he can get a bit defensive and threatening if someone acts a bit too cruel, without realizing any intentions. He also lacks some social sense, and his positivity can cause a group to go quiet. He simply thinks that people can fix internal issues by simply accepting what happened and getting over it to achieve other goals, which is...not as easy and correct as he believes, especially given many of the Voids have been tortured and genetically altered to a point of a broken physical form. He slowly eases out of these beliefs, and when he doesn't understand the complexity of someone's pain, he will be there for them to talk it all out, and will support them emotionally.
- Taka's hobbies are: finding the perfect seat, grilling, sumo wrestling, car spotting, whittling, and amateur gardening.
- His favorite type of car is the 2018 Honda N-Box.
- He bought a puffy jacket for Mido once, because of how cold he looked one day during the autumn equinox. Yes he cried
- He is terrible at recognizing flirting.
- He likes to fish barehanded. dreamless memory is just fishing propaganda
- For some odd reason, he does take a weird liking to frozen pizza. Yes he has tried to grill it before no it did not work in his favor.
- Likes guys more than gals.
- On the times he has bet on sumo matches, he lost his money. Every time. He always has such a shameful look on his face whenever he loses that 30000 JPY. The Enomoto family doesn't really get upset at it, though, they have lots of money.
- He has competency with hair care. He sometimes brushes Kanon's hair when she's too lazy to take care of herself (which is somewhat often.)
Whenever she manifests her human form through Nao's hair, she always seems to form a pair of scissors in her hand along with it, despite it having no actual use. Surely that must mean something...?

Look at him
Roughly 600 years ago, Takanohana formally belonged to a clan in the Tottori Prefecture, appropriately named the Inaba Clan. They resided in the Inaba Province in the Hotarubi Village, ruled over by their leader, whom learned the secret of "Existence" through his many vassals who receive hidden intel from other villages to learn these hidden techniques. Among these vassals was Takanohana, who had honed the power of EXS abilities. He used it to protect the village he loved so dearly, and to bring agricultural as well as some technological advances.
However, a village in the Mimasaka Province caught wind of these powers, and sought to conquer over the Inaba Clan and take not only the power, but all of the village, for their own. The Hotarubi Village was torn apart as they tried to take defense, but instead of letting the enemy take them over under their rule, they decided to flee a long trail that would lead them to the Witchcraft Village. There, the Inaba Clan leader, along with his hundreds of villagers and vassals, pleaded to the village to help them recover and to at least temporarily take them in. While the Witchcraft Village was highly suspicious and leaning towards declining them, the Shinonome Clan, more notably, the queen of the clan, Wakadori Shinonome, took interest in the Inaba Clan and the Hotarubi villagers (taking note of the fact that she can sense some with abilities,) and allowed them to stay within her section of the Witchcraft Village, as long as they are willing to pay off their debt by helping her and her clan with tasks. They gladly accepted the tradeoff, and before they knew it, Wakadori was more than an ally to them; she was their queen, their savior, and even their God. Even the leader of the Inaba Clan swore nothing but fealty to her, and allowed Wakadori to take his place as not only the queen of the Hotarubi villagers, but his very own clan.
Wakadori took deep interest into Takanohana out of all of them, noticing his hurt and his pain for the village he had lost, and all the people who had died during the defense. He knows deep down that there is no way he could rebuild Hotarubi again, advancements and all; yet, in the back of his head, Taka had a starry-eyed part of him that believes maybe, just maybe, Hotarubi will be theirs again. Wakadori, in all her wisdom, showed that while Taka is allowed to grieve, his problems stem from the fact that lingering on the past so intensely obstructs his resolve, and the future he can make. Wakadori guided him to greatness with several talks of wisdom and menial labor, showing that right here within this merged clan, he can do even better than recreating Hotarubi from scratch; Taka can make an even brighter, bigger village that he can look up and be proud of. Thus, to Taka, Wakadori became more than someone he can look up to. Wakadori was his friend, and his sole confidant. Taka was made into her only vassal after he recognized his resolve. While Wakadori was wise and leading with portions of a strict attitude, Taka was the benevolence and charisma of her rule.
With such a rich history, it is only natural for Taka to be heartbroken seeing Wakadori slowly corrupt from the Void during an awfully dense Hollow Night. Her last words to him were, "just like you've been doing, Taka, take care of the clan you have created with my help, Shinonome...and Inaba...Do not lose your resolve even as I die in your arms...You've become a wise child." Though Taka's heart broke, his resolve didn't. He continued to lead in Wakadori's place, honoring her along the way. He was their benevolent ruler...until he met the same fate.
Now as a Void eternally in a purgatorial state, he wanders until his eventual capture, with the one quote that died with him cycling through his mind: "Rid the evil,
"Former allies, huh? Must be why we get along like peas in a pod, eh, Waka?"
Taka and Waka are exceptionally close, bearing the same feelings of justice, and the same oblivious nature. Taka does often look up to Waka's (ever so fluctuating) wisdom, like a student looking up to a mentor, since Taka still has to learn the ropes, similarly to when they both were still alive. They are close friends.
"Suji, my main man! Nothing more I love than having you by my side!"
Taka and Mido are extremely close, and it shows by how transparent they are with each other, and how comfortable they are to share it with the entire world, be it physical or emotional. To Mido though, this is developing into something different for him...And Taka seems to be quite oblivious! One of them will have to make a move soon.
"A mule waits until it's too late, a buffalo gets what they want? What in the world are you even saying?"
Suzume and Taka are friends, especially since the Yazawa Family and Enomoto Family are close (for all the wrong reasons, by the way,) so the two tend to hang out and do mundane stuff to just chill out. I don't think Taka agrees with applying the ideas of what humans describe as alphas, omegas, and betas to equines and bovines though...
"Ahh, your house is so...full of life! I'd, uh, I'd be honored to water some of your plants. (Ehh...was that a spider I just saw?)"
His dialogue says it all. Nice to her, and offers to water her plants, but Taka is very clearly bothered by some of the animals. His kindness conquers his fears, though.
