When Flax got to know Yvonne in the forest of Inazuma, he treated her like he would anyone else— blunt and rude in a closed off way to protect himself. When she offered to take him in as an apprentice of sort, he had felt pressured by his few friends, maybe even felt a little resentful of her. However, after living in Mondstadt for some time now, he had grown immensely attached to Yvonne to the point where he started to call her his mother. To his elation, she had not outright rejected it. Now, he lives day to day living under her roof, (though with discipline) learning how to understand his own feelings.
A young yokai child Yvonne took under her wing. As their bond grew closer, she considers him like her actual son. At some point in time, he’s begun to resemble her own appearance before she could realize, which was very conflicting for her. Sometimes looking at him would bring up deep hidden memories of the past…
At first, Caelus’ presence in Yvonne’s house had made Flax feel on edge, as if his position will be taken away. As such, he had largely ignored Caelus, giving him mean looks from time to time. Every time he did this, Caelus would just look so terrified that Flax couldn’t help but feel bad and eventually stop.
Nowadays he gets along well with Caelus, giving off the air of “I don’t care about you” when in reality he wants to him follow around and see what he’s up to with his art, maybe even guard him when he has to face a treasure hoarder or hilichurl.
To Flax’s surprise, Caelus is really easy to talk to when he opens up! He’s like a timid older brother…
Caelus— terrified of the boy he at first considered a “demon child” from the angry looks he was given, of course preferred to stay away from Flax. As much time has passed since he’s arrived in Mondstadt, he could feel himself grow less tense around him, even exploring around town with Flax by his side. It was kind of strange because it felt like he had a small bodyguard…
Caelus is happy to show him his work when Flax is curious, and is content with the thought that he’s being a not-so-bad role model when it comes to talking through Flax’s emotions together.
One of the few spirits that did not regard Flax with hostility. In fact, she seemed to be very kind to him, even introducing him to her child, whom Flax would play and run (hop) around with.
Sensing Flax’s gentle nature, Hisayo is sure he’d make a good friend to her daughter. Aware that he is a cautious soul, she’s sure to be extra careful herself, not wanting him to be scared off.
This kid is too sparkly.
“Ugh. Fine…”
“You take the broom, I vacuum! We gotta help Caelus out!” ^^
Flax always thought it was interesting to see Carlisle’s constant rivalry with Morina— if anything, it was free entertainment. Carlisle is the type of guy he would normally dislike: smart, seemingly arrogant, know-it-all vibes. However, upon learning that Carlisle had been beaten in a fight with the little elf girl, (he seems to be losing this battle overall) Flax strangely felt an overwhelming urge to protect him… He’ll come back Carlisle up next time… or maybe he’ll switch it up to support Morina. He’ll be sure to evenly balance the two teams out in neutrality. For now, he will give a few tips to the older boy that will surely help in the future: “The only way you can win is if you grow up to look really old.”
It is truly unfortunate that the smart fellow had figured out a way to blackmail him into submission when his plans were found out. It’s a rare sight to see Flax grow fidgety and even a bit small— “Please don’t tell my mother… I won’t do it again, I swear…”
Carlisle thought of Flax as another new kid in the block waiting to to be preyed on by Morina's antics. Contrary to expectations, Flax went on to associate with the elf girl instead and caused a load of panic in her wake. Note to self: do not attend the same social club as Valerian's admirers when Morina is within Mondstadt.
It was by fluke that Flax exposed himself as the person who leaked the club's location, but Carlisle took the chance to throw Morina's name under the wagon and sabotage their relationship. With any luck, Flax would grow distrustful enough of Morina to not share anything unnecessary with her in the future. As for his pleads for mercy... he feels like a bad guy for saying this, but "It will depend on how your mother takes my master's apology." At the very least, having something against Yvonne would be useful as a bargaining chip to force everyone to call things even.
With what started off as a few petty back and forths of “I bet my mom is better than your dad,” Flax grew to really enjoy hanging out with Morina (he won’t admit that outright though.)
He found it super entertaining seeing Morina with that guy Carlisle… is this one of those things where they hate each other… but actually like each other?? Gross. This is all so confusing.
In other news, Flax caught wind of interesting tidbits of information back in town while doing his deliveries. What’s this about a social club? According to Velvet, this one in particular was for young ladies who would gossip about (handsome-single-men-in-their-area.) But what was more alarming to him was that there were other clubs that did the same to women, even mentions of his own mother had apparently been circulating—speaking of her as if she were a rare bird being spotted.
For now he was all the more willing to put aside all differences and fight with Morina against a common enemy: weirdos who are after their parents.
“…I heard you’re looking into something. Morina, I’ll help you get rid of it if you help me with something too…”
"If you meet a boy like this 🤓 with hair the colour of raw fish meat, don't take him seriously. He lies a lot." That was one of the first things Morina said when she first met Flax. It baffled her that he could think she and Carlisle would be in any amicable relationship. The thought disgusted her. Not in a million years. Maybe only if Carlisle grew up as good-looking as her own father, not that Flax would appreciate it, given his off-hand insult. Flax might think he can get away easy for making fun of Valerian, but they were bound to meet again as long as they remained in Mondstadt.
Sure enough, the boy reappeared on his own accord, eager to sow some chaos with juicy intel of some bugs she was trying to squash. Carlisle and Velvet seemed to worry she would be up to something, but what could a small harmless girl like her do to a few grown women? She'd just be taking a look through their window. Yes, just a look. And of course, if she were ever caught, she could always drag her dear accomplice down with her.
Initially, Valerian was one of the few that Flax knew very little about; His only point of reference was Morina being his daughter— and had greatly expected the man to mirror her personality. Flax was more annoyed at the guy than anything, as he couldn’t read the addresses on letters sent from his household. When he asked his mother more about him at dinner one evening, he can vividly recall her face growing more sour as the atmosphere became ice cold. One look at Caelus told him that he had no clue what happened either.
The next time Flax saw Valerian, he made sure to give his best angry glare, demanding to know what happened— he also threw in a “you look old as hell” comment for an extra burn, even though he didn’t think it was true. Unfortunately, Valerian turned out to actually be… polite? Respectable? Not knowing how to respond, his blank stare must have looked quite dumb… Anyways… At least he is willing to apologize to his mom. Still, he wouldn’t like it if they got along too well either, that'd be creepy and who knows what Morina would do.
Valerian still has flashbacks of the earful Imogen gave him over scaring Morina to tears the first time they met, so he was very relieved that the younger elf was mad at him when he tried to introduce himself. He was even following Imogen's advice this time—lowering himself to eye level, not smiling yet, but at least not glaring at the boy either. And look at the boy, he’s sweet enough to be worried over his mother. If Valerian would use a word to describe him, it would be ‘cute’. Unfortunately, Morina was giving Valerian the cold shoulder ever since he returned from his month-long trip. He had yet to find out what manner of crime he had committed without physically being in Mondstadt. He apologised that his namesake has ruined their dinner somehow, and promised to make up to Yvonne at some point of time. That ‘some point’ being whenever Morina decided to communicate. Pain.
Ah, so this is the person who makes his mother frown all the time?
Despite wanting to be angry, Flax is thoroughly amused every time Velvet makes an appearance. She was not only fun to talk to and play with, but it was hilarious seeing others' reactions to her outrageous statements. He'd just prefer it if she didn't do anything to cause a headache... at least she looks sorry about it though.
Nooooo why did you leak the address— the maidens;;;;
What was at first wariness and suspicion, Flax somehow got a strange, sad feeling whenever he saw Ika… Perhaps he’s just a bad judge of character, but it seemed like this fellow was much like him.
“…Do you want to play a game with me? I-If you don’t want to be alone that is…”
"You like to watch fun stuff happen too, right? I think you and I will get along soooo well. Let's play a game then? Game's are more fun with more people around. I can even give you a prize if you win! How about that?"
“What kinda yokai are you?? Hey, if you don’t mind, wanna get back at the yosuzume with me?”
This kid looks lost. If they’re both lost, at least two heads may be better than one…
“Yes, good idea. Let’s throw those fruit at them when they fly by.”
“Hey! I thought you were gonna help me!”
“O-Okay, okay! Don’t cry please… uh…;;;; Here, you can take these herbs… my mom grew them so they’re really good for you.”
ᕦ(ò_óˇ) ( ・∇・)? ( ・∇・)? ( ・∇・)?
Yuzu doesn’t actually know what youkai she is…. And she wasn’t sure what he meant by getting back at the yosuzume, nor was she certain that she could be of any help either. So the only thing she did was share a few of her scavenged fruit with this young boy… not expecting him to use the food as ammo- NO DON'T WASTE FOOD- Bad boy, naughty boy- (இ Д இ`。)
Stay away (?)
Sometimes fun to play with... When she’s not messing with him.
“Huh???? NO you can’t have a feather—“
Hmmm :)
Rynn finds him cute so she spends a lot of time trying to chat with him and prank him…
“What are you? Can I touch your wings? Can I have a feather? I’ll give you one of my petals.”
