Saul Kynaston

With short cut dark hair that is completely white at temples, and a salt and pepper beard, Saul looks several decades older than he actually is. He has an unusual eye colour for a werewolf with them being grey blue, that is only made more notable with how his left pupil is permanently dilated. Early into his career, a cursebreaker failed breaking a curse that a witch put on him. While Saul got off easily in comparison to the other man, which the curse outright killed, it still permanently damaged his vocal chords and left a vaguely handprint shaped scar on his face and throat from where the curse breaker was touching him.

His hands have a constant slight tremor to them, worsens with exhaustion and emotions. Saul's voice sounds quiet and raspy with a whistle-like quality to it. He struggles to talk for long periods or raise his voice to normal speaking volumes so he often uses hand gestures or stands close to others so they can hear him and he doesn't have to strain his voice.

Saul falls in the middle of the scale for werewolves but still is referred to as dog-like and is considered mostly unnoteworthy for his wolf form. Monstrous, but mainly quadrupedal, he is what one would expect for a werewolf. Saul does roll his pants legs as many werewolves in Isador do.

Witch hunters that make it long term in the profession know how to keep their mouths shut when it comes to personal details about themselves. Saul is considered one of the best at keeping his private life exactly that, private. Outside of the scraps of knowledge that can be obtained by watching him, those that work with him don't know a thing about him or his past and Saul aims to keep it that way. , Saul is firmly trapped in a hellish job for a country he hates as he doesn't have a home to go back to.

Deeply bitter, irreligious but still prays, Saul has found himself increasingly isolated from others and aspects of his life he once held as important. Lingering damage from injuries he has received have worn down his health. Saul has found it increasingly hard to control his emotions, and figure out the words he wants to say often feeling like the phrase he wants is on the top of his tongue but he can never reach it. He has garnered the reputation of being unpleasant to work with, but good at what he does.

Rarely outright expressing his appreciation towards others, Saul will instead do or buy things for others while heavily playing it off as him NOT doing it to be nice. Saul clings to the little bits of things he can show attachment to that witches will struggle to twist around and hurt him with. However with his degrading health, it feels like even those bits are being stolen from him. His life is filled with a quiet crushing sadness and sense of hopeless desperation. He is being worked to death without mercy and knows fully well that he will die doing his job.

• Prior to being a witch hunter, Saul worked as a barber. He still on occasion cuts the hair of other witch hunters.
