Profile
IVANABE GAYE
Greatest Snake Oiler in the West
Character
1928. It's been twenty-eight years since the events of TIYF, and thirty-three since the events of WOL. While her friends have settled down a decade ago, Ivy is still a prolific adventurer who regularly ventures out with her wisdom and experience. She inspires young adventures, especially being an influence on Rudy's kids and Noah's more dedicated students.
Ever since the rise of the Shadow Government, Ivy has been searching for ways to take them down. She joined a resistance, the Shadow Interception Terminators (Sh.I.T., not to be confused with S.I.T.) and developed the pseudonym "Shay Neekey" to sneak into Government Valley and uncover the President's plans. However, she had no way of knowing that communications were constantly being tracked, isolating her from the others. Even worse, she sensed that the Vice President was keeping a tight watch on her, making her unable to meet with Tucker and exchange information. To the outside world, Ivy went "missing" -- which is why Austin Dieot sets off to find her.
During the events of Shadows over Loathing, Ivy is finally captured and placed into federal prison. It is only when Tam, Austin, and Leah arrive that they break out together, and she joins the kids on their quest to stop the President of Shadows.
Notes
- Her New-Fangled Gun broke during the events of TIYF, so she switched back to using a normal revolver.
- She is a great inspiration, but horrible at demonstrating self-preservation. She tells kids to "do as she says, not as she does."
- After her parents' passing, Ivy starts to regularly visit Rufus in the city, where he moved to. Her strange absence also set him to search for her. His seeking orb is what actually uncovers Ivy's location and gives the trio a tip on where to look.
Design
Design Notes
- She now carries her potion on an actual flap instead of just in her pockets. (She learned about the mess the hard way)
- No more skirts, it's pants time!
- She has been wearing her Pa's bandana this whole time. Even though it's ripped and torn, she's kept it sewn together.
- Hair is now in braids instead of normal pigtails.

Noah Hoemo
Noah actually managed to confess his crush to Ivy in their early 30's, and the two ended up dating for a while. However, their paths in life diverged when Noah was accepted to teach at a prolific university, and Ivy wanted to continue adventuring. Regardless, the two remained close and opted to stay as best friends.
Rudy Dieot
Ivy and Rudy have stayed close, even after Rudy started a family. Ivy is the cool aunt to his kids, although her mischeivous attitude can be a "bad influence." Sometimes, the three old friends will take days off whatever they're doing to go on an adventure again, just like old times.
Coraline Barcheror-Tretchy
Ivy kept her friendship with Cory just as she did with the others. She would always root Cory on as a fellow gal in the adventuring business and cheer on Cory's ambitions of music. Naturally, hearing of Ivy's disappearance worried Cory, and she supported her son's search for Ivy.
Austin Dieot
Austin has especially taken a liking to Ivy, inspired by her persistence and charm. Following after her footsteps, he studied Moxie in college as a Jazz Agent. Naturally, when he realized that she had been gone for longer than usual, he began to worry and started to search for her.
Betty Dieot
Betty has always been inspired by Ivy's knowledge of the West and thirst for adventure. Ivy did her best to help cultivate Betty's interest and encouraged her to pick up Beanslinging. Of course, she was also worried when hearing of Betty's trouble with darkness, which is what sparked her to look into the Shadow Government...
Spence Hunter
Ivy kept in contact with Florence and Spence even after their quest together ended. After Florence's retirement from ghost hunting, Spence would ask Ivy for help on particularly difficult quests. It's during one of these quests that Ivy first encounters a shadow beast, and Spence tells her about the organization that he joined to stop the shadows.
Jenny Lisam
When first joining the Sh.I.T., Jenny was not pleased with Ivy's presence. On the surface, they were exact opposites -- but as they continued to work together, the two learned they had very similar goals and motivations. Jenny even starts to like Ivy, but she would rather die before admitting it. Of course, Ivy's aversion to commitment and Jenny's pride prevent anything "real" from happening, but they care about each other, and that's what matters!
Tam Foolleray
Ivy was a major inspiration to Tam as a kid, and Tam is nothing but stoked to finally meet her hero. Ivy is flattered that she inspired a generation of new adventurers and is more than happy to offer advice to Tam.
Leah Fei
Leah was fascinated with Ivy's adventures in history class and unknowingly saw her as a celebrity crush. She respects Ivy greatly and regards her much more formally than the other two, but Ivy assures her that it's fine to be casual.
Bea O'Crassy
From the moment of her capture, Ivy recognized an incurable darkness within Bea. She despises people like Bea the most -- those who justify their violent pursuit to power with hardships in their life. She can only hope that the trio of young adventures can destroy Bea before she ends the world.
