Personality
Galileo is one of those people who always asks “why?” about anything and everything. She also is constantly determined to get answers, often to the point of driving people up the wall. Galileo is extremely methodical in her research methods. Every line of questioning is examined to the fullest extent, which while it gets results is exhausting for others to deal with.
Because of this, Galileo can be considered a workaholic. She is always searching for the answers to her latest question and rarely takes a break. In fact, Galileo has one of the worst self-care routines of anyone on the Golden Isles. It’s a miracle she’s still half functioning right now because of how little she takes care of herself.
Galileo is particularly out of touch with reality. She's often in her own head thinking about whatever research she's working on. This has the unfortunate effect of making her very clumsy - she forgets to look at her surroundings and that means she runs into all the things all the time.
Galileo is not great with words. She says very little, preferring to communicate in short sentences and grunts. This means that she hardly ever talks about her emotions with anyone. However, she is very good at listening to people. Although she's not the best at comfort, she does give people space to blow off steam.
To be fair, Galileo can be very affectionate in other ways. She is the kind of person who likes to give gifts that she makes, and she's very creative. When she's not involved in her own head, she's making things with her hands. So, those she loves get many gifts. She's also surprisingly cuddly, though most people don't get to see that at all.
Design Notes
- Galileo has an uncommon heart shaped gem.
- Galileo is able to shapeshift into the auracorn feral form.
- Galileo has heart shaped pupils.
- Galileo has an absolutely terrible fashion sense. She mostly just wears the first thing she pulls out of the closet each day.
Trivia
- Galileo is an astronomer. Because of the lack of outer space in the Golden Isles, Galileo researches the boundaries of universes and the vast unknown beyond the massive island they all live on.
- Galileo is a professor at Stardust University. Her class is liked well enough, even if she’s very much the absent minded professor stereotype.
- Although Galileo is aware of The Organization due to her wife’s involvement, she is not actively affiliated with it. She does research for Stardust University instead.
- Without her glasses, Galileo is practically blind.
- Galileo likes to collect paintings of what people think stars look like. She has a whole wall dedicated to them.
History
Galileo was the product of a young rich woman’s rebellious nature meeting a very attractive auracorn. Galileo’s unexpected birth forced her mother to chill out a bit and focus on her child. A few years later, her mother found a partner, fell in love, got married, and had another child: Chandra.
Galileo did not get along particularly well with Chandra: Chandra got spoiled when Galileo was supposed to have all the responsibilities. So of course Galileo was jealous. She and Chandra would get into many an argument in their childhood.
The one thing the two of them could agree on, though, was that the weird sky/universe/whatever of the Golden Isles were really cool. Whenever the two were forced to make up, they’d do so by staring at the sky forever.
This love of the weird sky led Galileo to study the sky throughout college. During that time, she met Angelique, the love of her life. The two first bonded over a love of the sky, but soon discovered they had other things in common. So, they got married.
Nowadays, Galileo does research for Stardust University. She is also the professor for a small, niche class that studies the sky. It’s a very nice life, especially because she gets to live with her wife while doing so.

Galileo’s extremely fond of Angelique. How could she not be? Not only do Galileo and Angelique share a love of the unknown skies beyond their world, they also are just very dorky together. Although Galileo is not the most vocally expressive, she knows that Angelique appreciates her gifts.
Galileo doesn’t get along particularly well with Chandra. Even now, decades later, she still feels jealous of and angry with Chandra. Nowadays, Chandra has a whole trophy wife gig going on and Galileo can’t help but feel pissed with the whole thing. After all, Galileo is the one with the only decent life and having to work for her things whereas Chandra gets to just cruise.
Lumiere is absolutely adorable! Galileo is extremely fond of their magic act. It's one of the few things that can drag her away from her work. She enjoys listening to them talk; their stories and jokes are so fun. She's willing to put up with social interaction just for them.
Taz and Galileo are surprisingly similar to each other in some ways. However, that doesn't mean they interact particularly much. Taz is just a bit too melodramatic for Galileo's tastes. It's nothing personal, they just don't really get along. Galileo is sure she's a nice person, but if it weren't for Lumiere, neither would go out of the way to meet the other.
Persephone is such a social butterfly. How does she do it? Galileo has no idea and frankly, she isn’t sure she wants to know. She tries to be friendly with Persephone, but her brusque ways don’t exactly mesh with Persephone’s flowery, bubbly ways. They do get along a little bit, but there’s no true spark of “friendship”.
Galileo absolutely adores Kiran. When they were young, she was always happy to watch them for a day. Kiran learned a lot about the sky whilst in her care. Although they now have the very tiring duty of being the Golden Isles’ guardian, they do make sure to come visit her every once in a while. After all, Galileo’s teachings helped Kiran understand the world they watch over far better.
Galileo doesn’t know what it is about Dinah, but she just feels so comfortable around her! Perhaps it’s because Dinah truly cares - Dinah knows how to make sure Galileo isn’t forced into doing things she doesn’t want to do. Plus, Dinah is very much a “mom friend” for Galileo - Galileo is absolutely willing to listen to her in regards to self-care, even if Galileo doesn’t listen to most others.
