Carvus Akila's Links
Carvus trusts Lillia a bit more, knowing that he wants to protect her as much as he can. He can tell that something is off with the lancer, but he chooses to not question it (and also doesn't have the braincells to pay attention with that.) However, he is excited to bring her on hunting lessons and to see her raw strength, as he has seen on the battlefield.
Despite the fact that Carvus seems to solve most of his problems by eating them whole, Lillia, who's got a strong stomach and a moral compass which appears to have been dropped and broken at some point, considers him to be surprisingly soft. Even she can sense that he has the best of intentions by hauling her into hunting lessons (despite how overwhelming the prospect is), but she's terrified that he'll discover her secret. Realistically, considering his general intelligence, she doesn't have to be.
Carvus doesn't have much of an opinion on Pollux, having fought with them once before. They appreciate the power that Pollux has shown with their light magic, and shows some curiosity in it, but otherwise sees them as another odd person.
As of recently, Carvus has attempted to take on the use of Light magic thanks to Pollux, much to his own frustration. However, the two gained more trust and they gave each other a vow of protection. Carvus trusts Pollux more than most on the island, feeling somewhat of a kinship from them as the two struggle with somewhat similar troubles.
At first, Carvus is mysterious to Pollux. An overconfident fighter who can take on combat despite being hurt, yet unfamiliar with concepts such as cooking? They decide to understand them more, vowing to find the time to speak with them.
And when they do...they realize that Carvus has been through a lot and, ultimately, lonely and misunderstood. The both of them are able to confide in their troubles, and eventually, when Carvus goes missing, Pollux puts her own life at stake to make sure he's ok. To make sure he's aware that, even with his shortcomings, her, and the rest of the island, will make sure he's not off on his own anymore.
Carvus cares about Pandora since she was the first to reach out to him, but he really doesn't understand her or her horse, Actin. He is willing to protect her no matter what however, and it seems like he listens to her.
He's certainly a fun one to hang out with! The land he comes from is so different from her own, Pandora can't help but try to learn more from him. Plus, the way he tears into their enemies can show her a thing or two about anatomical weaknesses.
Grayson feels a bit of a kindred spirit in Carvus. There are times he wants to leave it all behind and just roam the wilds again. However, he knows that's not how to make things better. So among other things, he's keeping an eye on Carvus to make sure he settles into this little group.
He thinks Sybil is nice, he's just. Bad at expressing it and always worried that Sybil will get upset at him. So he tries his best to keep onto Sybil's good side, but man. He gives such good reactions that Carvus can't help but pounce on him.
"Your clanmates are here. We'll make sure no one takes you away again." Sybil's grown to care a lot for Carvus. Just as Carvus learns more about Human society and customs from everyone, Sybil learns a lot about bonds and perspectives from Carvus. He wants to protect him: but is he really the one protecting?
Sorrel has technically known Carvus for a long time, being the one to originally find him after Meissa abandoned them. However, due to a mix of insecurity as a parent, as well as his much weaker draconic side, Sorrel decides its better for Carvus to grow up with Argholdt, a friend of his.
However, after Sorrel recently finds out that Carvus believes that a: his father is dead and b: said father doesnt believe him to be his son to begin with, Sorrel immediately takes responsibility in figuring out why Argholdt would do such a thing. And, perhaps without realizing it, Sorrel has subtly taken on Argholdt's place in the interim, treating Carvus much like he would with his kids.
Carvus greatly cares about Castor since the other revived him, and has since referred to him affectionately as "Clanmate". As his designated hunting partner, Carvus craves the chaos that him and Castor cause together and is willing to do whatever he can to protect the other.
Carvus' inability to lie nor desire to ever do so is of huge comfort to Castor, who otherwise had to deal with lies and backstabs growing up. He sees no qualms in Carvus taking revenge on Meissa, seeing as he's done the same to others, and relates deeply to the anxieties that Ysingmyr presents to the both of them.
Like Carvus, he enjoys hunting a lot, and, despite Castor's cryptic choice in words, prefers to settle disputes head on rather than talking it out. This naturally lends well to the two of them becoming a bundle of chaos, unless someone with a level head gently leads them otherwise.
Carvus is the first time Ankaa had questioned why she was supposed to fight someone -- as well as the first time she witnessed what would happen when she did. She had originally held that fateful day as a reminder to never let her guard down...but as time passed, once more she found herself questioning the truth of that day.
So when it's Carvus who manages to save her from the very flames that hurt him so long ago? Ankaa comes to learn that the two of them, deep down, had both been hurt due to the same, corrupt country that tried to use the two of them. And because of that shared pain, Ankaa has grown to trust Carvus quite a lot, even if it'll take time for her to fully get back on her feet again.
