" v i s i t a g a i n s o o n , o u t l a n d e r ! "
Hel is very excited to find someone on the same level as herself. As the only other person she's met so far who is, themselves, a tear in the fabric of time (and from beyond the borderlands), she finds Ren very interesting despite the threat he poses to her continued existence. As a person who is not well known for her caution, as well as a person who relies on her sister to protect her from her own impulsivity and curiosity, Hel intends to deceive her sister and continue to meet the eldritch entity in secret in the hopes of uncovering the secrets of the world tree (and, subsequently, the disaster of Ragnarok, which saw the pantheon cast into Midgard).
On top of all that, he hasn't threatened her life! Even once! WOW!!! What a nice guy!
"There's still so much you don't know and will never know, sweet summer child..."
Ren regards Hel with the same curiosity he has for Jordyn, observing the girl's actions from afar while he watches on with mild bemusement. Yet, the way Hel thinks of him makes him feel strangely... conflicted. How does one break it to a child-goddess that no, the two are not cut from the same cloth despite their uncanny similarities at first glance? Regardless, the man treats the girl like how he treats everyone who he's interested in - with politeness and an enigmatic smile. As of now, he's willing to humour Hel and play alongside her - he can still derive some enjoyment this way and learn more about the siblings while he's at it too. Ren could only imagine what Jordyn's reaction would be like upon the enchantress learning that the two have been secretly meeting behind her back...
"Be truthful with yourself, Ren. Am I not your most favored form of entertainment?"
After their highly unusual chance meeting, Jordyn did not move to seek out Ren. Truth be told, she'd hoped he might stay away, since the goddess could tell from just that one meeting that he would likely bring more trouble than he was worth. After coming to know him better over time, Jordyn has since dropped all pretenses of kindness or charm. The calculative woman has come to the realization that such efforts are not worth her precious energy. Because of this, Ren is 'special' — in that he is one of the select few who are, occasionally, on the receiving end of her true feelings, no matter how sarcastic or outright hostile they might be. Still, despite this odd level of trust (...?), the serpent does not doff her protective layers of cunning and wit. She would never be so foolish...
"Dear, the whole world is my entertainment, but you are certainly one of its most outstanding actor."
Ren wasn't expecting Jordyn to nearly kill him upon their first meeting, but instead of deterring him, that near-death encounter only piqued his interest in the fallen goddess even further. Jordyn doesn't know, but he's been watching her ever since with the same perverse delight of a voyeur, tracking her every movement and every thought like how a stealthy hunter would stalk its prey. Ren even appeared to establish contact with the serpent's half-dead sister for unknown reasons. Does he have a motive, or is this simply Ren's twisted way of deriving entertainment from Jordyn? This will always remain a mystery to everyone but the Director himself, but the serpent is right to exercise extreme caution around the age-old fox regardless...
“I… do not believe I am deserving of such leisures, my lady.” Illanya has quickly found Jordyn’s demeanor and kindness to be incredibly disarming, particularly in the face of her initial suspicions and weariness. The undead warrior’s own desire for companionship and courtesy has left her incredibly vulnerable to the serpent’s manipulations. While she is somewhat aware that Jordyn may have ulterior motives, she finds it increasingly difficult for her to identify that behavior. And so long as nothing bad happens because of it, Illanya doesn’t seem particularly bothered to care.
"Come closer, lay down your burdens..."
The serpent views Illanya as another lost lamb, one that she could add to her flock, or one that she could use to add to the span of her own life. Though she may act charming and gracious, empathetic or warm, her true intentions are far more sinister...
"It would be an honor to die by your hand."
Where NV is full of doubts and insecurity, Jordyn is nothing but confidence and wit. It is because of this stark difference that they vie for her attention and praise. Several times she has tried to harm them, and each time they have willingly walked into a trap, coerced by such warm words, even if each one was drenched in poison. Even now they are aware they are only an object in her eyes, but to be by her side, they feel, is an honor. Perhaps being so close to her will give them a glimpse of how to be confident and strong.
"Did you miss me, love?"
Jordyn views NV as a great power. In equal measure as they are dangerous, they are also inherently useful. The serpent god has a very utilitarian view on her relationships with others, and her relationship with NV is a bit of a gamble... but this time, she decided to bet on herself. Though she does not trust the sin themselves, she does trust in her own ability to control others; especially those as vulnerable as NV. As a result, they will find themselves on the receiving end of her favor, her attention and affections guiding their actions towards her own twisted desires.
"For what reason do you seek me this time, nightmare?"
The serpent finds this horror's company somewhat unpleasant, though not wholly intolerable. Their smarmy attitude and hobby of treating her like a new toy is a recipe for disaster, but something about them makes her hesitant to cut ties. Is it because they somehow remind her of her home at sea? Or perhaps that they might be the last one who honors the memory of her true identity? It's difficult to say precisely...
“Oh why so sour, Jordbær…? You know as much as I that I mean you no harm…” The creature replies smoothly, opening their arms. It’s an invitation, one that beckons her to find comfort in their warm embrace; but the unnerving grin that taints their lips hint at something more. “I do rather like you, believe it or not…” They take a step forward, closing the distance between them, and a hand reaches out to gently graze her cheek. “You remind me of someone, an old acquaintance of mine… Pity you’re all that’s left of him…”
"You'll let me pass through again, won't you, warden..?"
The serpent toys with the fox just as much as he toys with others, as her heart and mind are not so easily won. She keeps him at arm's length, never showing her true intentions, but never fully letting him go, either. The enchantress views him as a valuable asset, and so she keeps him close at hand. A blade with two sides is still useful, after all.
"I suppose once more I can, why don't you stay awhile and keep me company?" Uno is well aware of Jordyn's nature, it doesn't bother him one bit. While she may toy with him and use him as a means for easy protection, he is using her himself in his own way. For Uno, it is an equivalent exchange between the two.
Jordyn. The queen of the universe, the woman who can end it all. His damaged eye can see into her and through any façade she attempts to possess, but he casts no judgement upon her for it. Though his feelings are highly muted (no thanks to being dead), he would probably hold her hand and end the world with her, if she ever sought his companionship. He thinks very highly of Jordyn and keeps her scales in a little precious box, away from the other assortments of haunted items and possessed objects he owns.
"Worry not—in all of time, I've never found a finer green companion."
One of her stranger relationships, they are a bit more than acquaintances, but a bit less than true friends. It could be said that the serpent has few real friendships—as she rarely trusts someone enough to give them such a title. But Cyrus is just about as close as one can get, and with time, he may yet become one of her very first.
"—we'll speak again only when you've learned how to show respect to your elders."
Spurned by his disrespect and infuriated by his threats, the serpent looks down her nose in disgust at this lesser flesh animator. Until the day he truly amends his ways, the proud goddess will never bestow upon him the deeper knowledge he so seeks.
Necromancer is like a traditional, balance scale when it comes to Jordyn. There are days when he is in favor of her company or presence and days where he simply would love to just grab her around the neck and show her why he (despite being only a Necromancer) is a higher, more powerful God. She often travels through the forest he resides in and he keeps a fair watch on her, sometimes in her knowledgeable sphere and sometimes not...
"Well, look who it is..."
The serpent is amused by this player's antics, and enjoys playing along at times according to her whims. She views him much like a fledgling, a cheeky apprentice of sorts who is in the beginning stages of learning a craft that she mastered long ago. Like a grandmaster playing a mock match of chess with a beginner, the enchantress is amused by his efforts, though they are wholly in vain.
"We have a deal, don't we?"
Wary but fully aware of his usefulness, the serpent approaches this intergalactic dealer only when she wants something. At the very least, she never comes to a deal empty handed...
" . . . ! "
Though Hel herself has no strong opinions of the dead one, she recognizes him right away as one of her sister's closest bonds. The serpent may not realize it, but the gentle yet reliable presence of the stranger seems to have earned some amount of her cold affection. As such, Hel treats him as a trusted ally and friend.
" . . . "
Hel has seen glimpses of the necromancers past, present and future. She does not feel obligated to share these visions, as the arbiter has no desire to create tears in the fabric of the continuum...
"Stay close, sister. These lands are unwelcoming to strangers..."
Her sister, Hel, is an irreplaceable existence to the serpent. She protects the young girl like a true guardian, actively weeding out any and all who pose a threat.
" . . . o k a y . "
Hel views her sister as short sighted family, and tries her best to shield the violent goddess from the repercussions of her own actions. In this way, Hel protects her 'protector'.
"A kind mortal. My favorite thus far. Offers me sacrifices daily of peppermints and sugar cookies."
"A curious littl' fellow. I'm glad he seems t' enjoy my cookin'. I tend t' think he's sort've cute."
"My mum. Love 'er to bits. Be disrespectful and it'll be th' last thing you do."
"Fey? I hope she comes home soon..."
"Greedy littl' bastard. Smart though."
"Quite the unthinking one. Perhaps I might teach her a few things."
"That playboy? Truth be told, I've a hard time trustin' him... It seems like there's more t' him than meets th' eye. All of his actions seem calculated, 'nd all of his words are shaped by a silver tongue. At th' very least, he seems reasonable."
"I'm sorry, I've no idea who you're talkin' about."
(They have not met yet!)
"Quite unlike anyone I've met before; I'd love t' see his homeland with my own two eyes one day."
"Always got is' nose buried deep in a book. He's like a walkin' magic encyclopedia at this point. At least he doesn't seem the type t' stab me 'tween the shoulder blades without a good reason."
"I must admit that I disliked Miss Feyarie upon our first meeting. Since then I have grown to appreciate her more... energetic nature. At least she knows how to be serious on the occasions where such a manner is necessary"
"Everyone deserves their own chance at freedom. Gyro is no exception, so long 's he keeps his wits about him n' his promise close at hand. Despite his past, he seems trustworthy 'n upstanding as anyone else I've met. It is my greatest hope for him that he'll never prove me wrong."
"She will make a fine adventurer. I can see a fire in her eyes that will lead her to greatness. She may have a hard time reading others but her tenacity to improve and make her thoughts known will serve her well in the future."
"He's got more sparkle in his pinky finger than I've got 'n my entire body. Is it impressive? Uh... Probably, though I couldn't tell ya' as I think I've gone blind."
"Like a raging wildfire, she is at once incendiary and a waste of th' air that sustains her."
