Something about this man was just so... INTOXICATING!
God, he was so evil, and he wore it so well! That look in his eyes, whenever he talks about his experiments and research...! And he was a musician too...! They should have a jam session sometime. Or a different kind of session together...
Unfortunately, Dr. Dread seems to be the one man that none of his charms work on. What gives?! But... he can't say he doesn't like the thrill of the hunt...
Ever since she first stepped into her treehouse to find the place wrecked, she's been terrified of whoever did it. Ever since he came into her house late at night to try and kidnap her, she's been scared out of her mind. Now she has a name and a face, she's pissed.
What was he planning to do with her, if he'd gotten her? That sidekick he has... was THAT what he wanted her for? She NEVER would've agreed to work with a guy like him! But she gets the feeling that 'agreeing' isn't all too important when it comes to this man...
He had to admit, that girl had potential. She was firey, a hell of a fighter, and had plenty of power she hadn't even tapped into yet. He wanted it for himself. Maybe because her abilities reminded him of Preston's.
He stalked her awhile, trying to pin down the perfect time to kidnap her. But he was thwarted, not just once, but twice. The power that gave her such great sidekick daughter potential also made her too difficult to capture. No matter--there were plenty more superpowered kids to pick from, and fighting her head on was just as fun.
Nice to meet you--let's break the ice!
Jokes aside, Ken's been through a lot. You get that vibe just by looking at him. He can definitely use some help learning how to lighten up and smile a bit--no need to be so icy, man! Between him, Brian, Shannon, and Logan? Ken'll be a grinning jokester in no time! Or at least happier. That would be nice too. Hah, n-ice...
When he looks in the mirror, he sometimes sees a face that is his own and yet not. He sees posters throughout town of some missing kid, and if he looks at the face too long, his thoughts begin to frazzle. Who IS this "Shannon Takeshi", and why does he feel so... drawn, to him?
They're one and the same, distorted reflections of one another. It's... interesting, in a horrible way, knowing that he could become someone like this. Let's be real, though--Blur's pretty cool. Just wished he were less... evil and mind controlled, about it.
This boy was... loud, untrained, and a tad annoying. But he had a power in him, one that could be... useful, to him. With a bit of extra training and a personality shift, this kid would make the perfect sidekick. He just needed to undergo a few... modifications.
Oh god. Wait. He knows this guy. Isn't this that Derek man, who was at the dojo for open house?! And they'd chatted a bit after school a few times--he'd been wondering what the deal with that was, but he never suspected--
Shit. Shit, shit, SHIT, he was a supervillain, that was bad!! What'd he--what'd he want with HIM?!
In his last few moments of lucidity, of clarity, before it all went dark. He vowed that if he somehow made it out of this. He was gonna take this guy down. Somehow, some way, some day.
They sparred once, at the dojo, during open house? Dude, he was NOT expecting this nerd to have that kind of skill! Shows you should never underestimate somebody... they were pretty evenly matched!
He feels an... energy, around him. Like something's not quite normal. Is Ken... not human, maybe? Like he is? Could he... talk to him about it?
Eugh, he can't believe he ever considered Will a friend! He wasn't ALWAYS this bad, but with the way he is now? Keep him away with a 10 foot pole.
Not gonna lie? Diana kinda intimidates him. She's so pretty... but also quick with her tongue--she'll dress you down in an instant if you get on her bad side! He's heard rumor of her throwing a mean punch--she seems chill, but if the rumors are true, dear god...
Can't say he was expectng Logan to be any fun--he always though Logan was some stuck-up rich-boy who got his kicks off of showing off how smart he was at the expense of everyone else. Turns out--Logan's chill, and funny as hell!! They get along GREAT!! Sure, sometimes Logan can be a bit of an ass--but if you keep him in check, he actually fixes the issue!
Shane and him have been buds since the third grade, after Alana introduced him! He's pretty chill! But man... Shane's the kinda guy who really needs a good reason to smile. Hopefully, he can help with that--but he doesn't think this is the kinda sadness that can be cheered up with a few jokes in class.
Never knew that smarty-pants was a jokester! Oh, they've gotten into all kinds of jokes and trouble together--but they always come out the other end laughing and planning their next stunt!
Hanging out with Alana's always a fun time! They've been buddies since around third grade or so? She's a bit quiet, but once you get her going, she gets going! They've got a few jokes with each other, and getting Alana smiling almost ALWAYS gets everyone else smiling too! Score!
Maddi's cool, in his book! She's chill, and nice when she wants to be--which is becoming more and more frequently! They're great friends, they love ribbing off of each other!
But he sees how he and CJ look at each other. Even if they don't realize it, he can tell they're both crushing on each other. There's chemistry between them. He knows what's coming--its inevitable. And he's... jealous. And he hates that he's jealous! It's not Maddi's fault Shannon's seeing her as some rival in a competition she doesn't even know she's in!
They've been best buds for as long as it's mattered, and honestly CJ doesn't think he deserves him. He was a piece of shit for most of middle school, and Shannon still put up with him?! Man...
CJ values Shannon's friendship so much. His mom would always say that they're 'just like brothers,' but that never felt quite right to him--he was WAY closer to Shannon than he was to Stanley. Years back, they made a promise that if they were still buddies and were still single, they'd just move in together after college and live out the bachelor life.
Losing a best friend hits hard, and after Shannon got kidnapped, CJ felt this... pit. It was hard to force up any semblance of his normal positivity, especially the longer the case stretched on. It wasn't until Shannon was presumed dead that CJ realized just how much he really meant to him. How much he... really cared for Shannon. And now it was gone--way too late for weak platitudes and confessions.
They've been best friends for as long as it's mattered, class troublemakers and chaotic gremlins through and through. They've irritated so many teachers, it's a game to them! Sure, CJ was a bit distant in 5th and 6th, when he brushed against popularity--but when the schoolbell rang, they were still hanging together playing video games like old times!
They trust each other with anything and everything! But... do they? They're so open with each other, and yet, there's a lot that Shannon's keeping hidden... would CJ see him differently if he knew his secrets?
Take down the healer, the rest of the team crumbles. But she doesn't make herself an easy target. Fine by him--a quick take down may be satisfying, but a good fight's far more fun.
Some nights, he has dreams, where he's trying to make someone who looks like her laugh. What... is this about...?
He would do anything for him, to secure his future, to make sure he can be happy. He vowed as much the moment he first held that tiny baby in his arms, looking into his big brown eyes.
Easier said than done. Kids get older, situations change, tragedy befalls them--twice--and as Anthony's head is still reeling from the losses, he realizes his son has... changed. Grown distant. He barely wishes to even speak with him any longer.
When he found out his secret, he hoped they could work together, rekindle that bond. But instead, his son pushed him away further, wanting nothing to do with him. Still, Anthony didn't know just how far Brett was willing to go to stop him...
It's crazy how much Luke had change since they last met. Back then, he was the serious one, the quiet one, mumbling mantras to himself and Ken to keep himself calm. Now? He was a loud, boistrous, flame wielding goofball who loved adventure, action, and throwing himself headfirst into anything that came at them.
Well. Who said he had to be a goofball alone? Taru's more than willing to relax with a few late night adventures in his car, checking out new scenes and blasting pop punk as loud as his speakers will allow!
It was hard to grow up in the High Realm and not see Arcis Shinigami as a legendary hero. He saved their whole realm, after all, and the profession of Monster Hunting was never the same after he left his mark. Taru never worshipped him as much as other hunters did, but he always had a bit of reverence. All that quickly went away when Ken and Luke confided in him about the years of abuse they faced by his hand, revealing just how much of a monster the former hunter really was. Now he feels nothing but disgust seeing pictures of the man.
He'll become the top hunter, alright. And the instant he does, he's using his platform to expose the filth that lies under Arcis Shinigami's thin veneer.
Is it weird to be sorta-besties with your boyfriend's best friend from his traumatic childhood? Either way, Alana's life was far from normal, so she's taking it in stride! Whenever he had questions about how things in the human realm worked, she gave her best answers, introduced him to her other friends, and anything else she could do to help. She was worried Taru found her annoying, since he's not too much of a conversationalist, but all worries were pushed aside when she heard him purring as she showed him around her garden. Now they'll listen to music, share snacks, and chat while he teaches her about hair care and does her braids. She's also learning boy band choreography because of him, but hey--it's loads of fun!
It's always nice to have a friendly face, especially when he's moving realms and unfamiliar with the... well... EVERYTHING. Alana was quick to help him get adjusted to the Middle Realm, and before long they were exchanging music recs, teaching each other recipes, and talking the night away. He's always down to be a listening ear as she rants about bullies and restrictive parents, and he's grown a deeper appreciation for nature after listening to her lectures on local wildflowers and insects.
They were transported to the Facility in the same van, though by the time they escaped they were far different people. They had the closest thing one could get to a friendship, trapped in that place, and a few tears were shed when they ultimately chose to part ways after the Facility's destruction. After all, they couldn't be sure if they'd ever see each other again.
And yet... they found each other, years later. Once again, they were far different people than when they'd last met, but somehow it was like almost no time had passed at all between them. It didn't take long for them to become close friends again, for Taru to choose to move REALMS to be with him and his team.
By the time he realized he had something akin to a crush on the boy, Ken was already seeing something else. This wasn't his first time dealing with that, though, and he doubted it'd be the last. Even still, he values Ken's friendship more than almost anything.
He feels a tenderness for her that he's not quite used to. Something deeper than the carnal desires that lead him to dozens of one night stands. He wasn't sure how to explain it, or if it even needed to be explained. At the end of the day, he was grateful to have a companion on his journey--one without amnesia, no less.
He wasn't sure what kind of person he was before he lost his memories. Whoever he was, he hopes he was the kind of person who could love Ayana the way he does now.
She's not sure when she'd forgotten that she deserved kindness. But late night talks with this amnesiac bard made her remember that she did. When it all came to a head, and the village wanted the kind bard dead, she knew she had to run and warn him. She hadn't expected to be swept up into his adventures, but she may as well enjoy the ride.
And yet... the more time they spend together, the more she feels there's something more to this Bard. Something that can't be explained by missing memories.
Everyone deserves to have a name. She gave him his--Michelangelo.
When the strange goddess stepped into his realm and began her path of destruction, concerned didn't even begin to describe how he felt. Especially when she turned her chaos towards him. Usually one to avoid confrontation, when the fate of the realm is on the line, he was quick to retaliate. But ultimately, they destroyed each other.
It's such a shame, really. Had she just explained her situation, he would have tried to find a peaceful solution. Perhaps even been friends. Perhaps... more.
She traveled through the realms, trying to find a being powerful enough for her to feed on, to steal its energy. A being with enough influence to subsist herself off of until she grew bored with it's worshippers. She found Niatryis. They destroyed one another.
Such a shame, really. Maybe, if he'd played nice, she would have left just enough of his essence to toy around with, to watch as she rendered his realm to nothing. Oh, well.
His father. After escaping the facility, when they managed to return home, things immediately grew colder. His parents divorced, Frost taking Luke away, while he stayed with his father. Did they split... because of him?
His father. He grew up only knowing the walls of the manor. Arcis was his father, his teacher, his only friend, in some senses his only enemy. He forgot what the sun felt like, locked away in that manor those eight years.
His father taught him obedience. To follow strict rules, to obey his every command, his every word. His value was to be a perfect son, a perfect heir to Shinigami Technologies, a perfect heir of the Shinigami legacy of monster fighters and heroes. Any deviance, any mistake, any failing, was harshly punished. Anything that was given could be taken away, including food, including safety.
He's out of there now. And the longer he stays away, the longer he feels the warmth of friendship and love, the more he realizes just how deeply his father's chill had bitten into his skin.
Just steps away from being the perfect son, the perfect heir. Now he's being corrupted by those humans and his twisted mother. He'll have to remold him from the ground up, at this rate.
But he will be remolded. And if his son doesn't bend to his will, he'll be broken.
Something about the Doctor is... unsettling. He always seems to be marked with blood--on his gloves, his lab jacket, even the scent of it hangs around him. He just can't understand Zarroff's fondness of him.
But... if he's going to be a supervillain, he'll have to get used to some unsavory characters. The Doctor... he certainly fits the bill of an 'unsavory character.'
Awfully squeamish, isn't he?
Albert's tech was AMAZING. He feels like he learns 10 different things anytime he analyzes one bot! And he makes them so FAST, too! How does he do it?!
He'll admit it. He sees messing with Albert's tech as a game. Engineer versus engineer--who would beat who? And it seems Albert's taken a bit of an interest in him, too.
Oh well. Let the games begin. Who's keeping score?
This hero... reminds him of himself, when he was younger. The team's 'tech' guy, creating grand inventions to take down the bad guys. Huh... guess he really was one of the bad guys now, wasn't he?
But still... he reminds him of his youth... so how old IS he? He hasn't been fighting kids this whole while, has he? If so... Did he know what he was getting into? What he and his friends were risking?
"Tech guys always get off easy," his old teammates had always said. But did they? After all, HE was the one left standing, with all of the pain to go with it...
