What a strange little...? Although Emrys is quite the absent figure himself, he isn't so absent to not notice that Valax is particularly in Asterot's charge. He can clearly see why, though their age is a mystery to him. Asterot is content with not seeking answers from those around him, and Emrys must respect that, though he can't help but be so incredibly curious and wish to know. How can such a sweet looking child be such a... a... a brat? He truly wishes to mend this bridge so as to know more...! Asterot you don't know how much this eats at him inside...!
Whenever Valax sees Emrys and Asterot in the same room, Asterot has the weirdest look on his face... Emrys seems really odd around him too... Valax can only assume they have some kind of grudge against each other..? Obviously, Emrys is the same race as them, and Valax has never heard of him or seen a single word from him before being brought here. It really annoys them that Emrys brought Asterot here just to stare at him all the time and order him around! Valax obviously shows their allegiance to Asterot whenever Emrys is around by being snarky or turning tail and avoiding him. It's even more annoying that Asterot won't explain what the problem is! Valax can't help but try to look into the archbishop when they think they'll be able to get away with it. It's really hard to upset Asterot, so it must be really bad! How come the archbishop seems so clean! It doesn't make any sense at all!!!
Lucian definitely reminds him of himself and his own current ongoing struggle. Princely duties are nothing to scoff at and he wants Luci to be a GREAT prince just as he hopes Luci will help him become a great prince too. He finds himself exchanging knowledge with him and finding nice quiet meetings in the garden to chat about what’s on their minds. He has a killer sweet tooth so it usually ends up being a “Let’s stuff our face with cookies and whine” session.
Gawain is a wise and talented class leader, but Lucian mostly clings to him for their shared goal. Truly, he, too wants to be a great prince, and they originally bonded over the very idea. Eventually, though, they grew closer instead during their study sessions under the tutoring of Aritene. There is no way Lucian would rather spend his afternoons.
Aritene is very very dear to him. He's kind and understanding…. especially when he’s standing there with a failed math test and a sheepish smile asking for help. What kind of pathetic prince is HE to not even be able to handle simple mathematics?? Ari is non-judgmental however and he finds himself at ease sitting with him in a library wrapped in HIS shawl learning proper ways to solve equations. The community Aritene creates amongst the house members is an INSPIRATION. It’s incredible! The bond they all share suddenly feels unbreakable! Aritene is incredibly valuable to their house and provides a perfect balance to his style of fighting. He wears his gift to him proudly on his chest and hopes to someday return the favor to him for all the help and care he’s provided him. Aritene is undoubtedly important, he couldn’t possibly lose him…
Despite the natural conflict that could've resulted from their different... Statuses, Aritene considers Gawain to be one of his closest friends at Garreg Mach. Initially, Aritene was a bit wary to interact with his fellow house members. The lofty prince seemed a lot closer to the ground holding a failed test... Aritene, who has a lot of knowledge due to his prior studies, felt compelled to help! In the end, his little study group became one of the main connectors he has to the Blue Lions. His happiest times at the church are spent in the library with his comrades - partially due to the quiet familiarity of their meetups, and partially due to disliking combat missions as a whole. Even though he was brought to Garreg Mach in bad circumstances, his friends in the Blue Lions make it feel like fate. Aritene thinks him and Gawain make a great duo, since Gawain can cover his weaknesses and vice versa. He really wants to spoil him, but he feels awkward giving gifts to people who seem like they have it all... He's saving some homemade gifts for the study groups successes, so he has an excuse to finally give them out.
Th-the prince?! At Garreg Mach?! Oh, she truly IS cursed... Mirka thought she could simply start a new life in Fodlan without incident, despite all of the ill treatment she receives due to her former nationality. It seems the most intimidating and mighty pair of eyes watch her every move... so she must devote herself fully to serving him! To be fair, he's not that bad of a guy.
A good friend and a trusted companion! Mirka has been his rock since he arrived, a happy reminder of his home. Though he doesn't really understand why she's so eager to be beside him, he can't help but cling to her, knowing what little connects them is possibly the greatest connection he has.
Hm~? Another servant among the ranks? GOOD! She'll reap her reward among the rest of the Agarthans when the time comes for Fodlan to be theirs. Perhaps he'll personally review her activities and promote her to a more fitting position. A good prince needs a good servant!!! WAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!
Of course, Arete knows her ultimate duty lies to her lord. She takes great care in the writing and sending of messages for Ataraxia, insuring that they're extra legible and safely delivered. Due to her troubles finding people to deliver them, she ends up having to pull a lot of strange antics to get them to their destination... Arete has slipped them under his dorm door, dropped them from roofs, tucked them into fresh laundry, buried them in gardening soil (bad idea! one time only!) and dozens of other methods... To be honest, it's partially for security and partially to show off. A chance for attention shouldn't be wasted! Ataraxia is the greatest Agarthan ever, so everything should be perfect! Cheering for you, dark prince~!!
THIS... GUY... IS... THE MOST FRUSTRATING PERSON IN FODLAN! IN THE WORLD! IN THE UNIVERSE!!!!!!!! What a STUBBORN, FOOLISH, and RUDE individual. He has no respect for Zhang Tian, for her FAMILY, or for her FEELINGS. It's the only explanation for why he won't sell Zhang Tian his mount when it's clearly SUFFERING in the conditions of the Garreg Mach stable. Clearly, it belongs with her! Anyone with a brain could see it!!!! THIS GUY IS SO FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!!
So… pink! And loud! Kinda reminds him of Breakfast just…. not as snuggly. Seems a bit rabid that one. Perhaps she’s in need of a nap, Breakfast gets cranky without a nap too.
TEACH! He's funny and cute. She feels bad sometimes when he's trying to rein the class in, but when it's HER disruptions she doesn't even notice half the time. She's thrown a desk at Ottavius and Ataraxia before, and threw a wink and two finger guns at Bai Qingyue like she was 'on his side'. The ancient tech stuff really goes in one ear and out the other, but it really lulls her to sleep just right...
Delara is Qingyue's favorite student - With the competition, it's not a hard role to get... Despite this, his fragile constitution makes it so that he stays out of range of her most of the time. At least she's fun to listen to if she's disrupting class! At least she gets good grades in her combat classes! It could be much worse..
Gawain seemed a bit like a lost puppy, when he first stepped into the church. Emrys knew he should pay special attention to the prince, and he was right. He extended his arms to him and spoke the kindest verses of scriptures written in his mother's name to him, and how the Goddess protects all who deserves her love and ensures that good will thrive. Emrys sees that good in him, and does not mind reminding him of this, even as he questions himself after all of his missions. Perhaps he's helped him with homework... what? It's the will of the goddess he get a B+...!
When his mind becomes too clouded with thoughts, worries, and his future he finds himself wandering into the Church of Seiros to sit and clear his thoughts in the silence. Emrys feels akin to an angel visiting him and just a few words from his mouth eases his mind and extinguishes his worries to this warmth he feels like nothing else can imitate. It’s almost addicting and he has to stop himself from visiting too often when his thoughts become unbearably difficult to manage. There are countless people he doesn’t want to disappoint but he feels as if it’d be crime to all that is holy and good to disappoint Emrys. His name is affectionate on his tongue and he becomes uncharacteristically agitated at slanderous comments. His time with Emrys is a bit of respite and he’s awfully well versed in literature, so it’s a bonus when he helps with his homework essays!
Luzia is a bit concerned about his growth. He is a very dedicated fighter and is relatively easy to get along with, but she can only imagine the weight of his crown when he's being pulled around by the collar to answer to tricky political situations. A few noble houses are revolting against their status in the Kingdom, and especially the sensitivity around the situation of Duscur... even the peace between the Holy Kingdom, Empire and the Alliance is quite shaky. Poor boy.
Luzia seems to see right through what’s on his mind. Sometimes his attention in class wavers or he’s caught staring off into space lost in thought. He’s embarrassed at getting caught but when he’s called after class to discuss his difficulty paying attention, Luzia is a lot more understanding than he’d expect. She’s a good professor, he’s eager to learn from her even when his brain isn’t all there.
A disappointment. A whole kingdom wasted. No matter... it's still just as easy to infiltrate their ranks, he just has to put up with the stink that comes with the worship of false gods.
A fellow house leader! Other students seem unsettled by him but he respects a fellow leader. Perhaps they should all come together for a chat or spar, it seems like a valuable meeting for them all!
The prince. He should be protected. Things won't go wrong if he's safe.
Madan is quiet but his presence is strong. He walks into a room and the chatter quiets for a moment, something he admires. He seems like a friend worth keeping and after some sparring sessions he sits with him in a sunny patch of grass to relish in the comfortable silence and look up at the clouds.
The prince...? He actually met him on their first day, having no idea who he was, and hit it off very well with him. He even tried to drag Phyllon along to make friends, but his friend must have had better perception than he when he was immediately startled at the sight of Gawain. Garland still laughs about it, but a couple years later after the revelation of his father's participation in the Duscur genocide, his laughter is a lot more hollow and humorless. He pities Gawain, for having to represent that situation... and detests the noble families of the Kingdom of Faerghus even more, disagreeing with Gawain's stance on them.
Gawain’s respect and admiration for Garland is unmatched. His unwavering determination and headstrong beliefs of what’s right and wrong is something he as a leader strives to mimic. Meeting him for the first time was a delight and he was fascinated with his life in the mountains and his beautiful pegasus. It’s scared of him but someday, surely, with enough sugar cubes PERHAPS it will be convinced. He wants to be a good leader and gaining Garland’s respect and support feels crucial to his success as future King. After the Duscar genocide and the death of his parents he feels himself begin to spiral. His kingdom feels divided… and the looks of disgust from Garland nearly makes him tear his skin off in shame at his failures.
He adores Luzia, her encouragement and support of the way he views and handles things makes it so easy for him to let down his walls around her and confide about his worries of where his attitude may land him. Perhaps the perfect utopia in his mind is unattainable and his expectations need to be knocked down a peg or too, but Luzia makes him feel he can accomplish anything he puts his mind to. Even if it’s something as ambitious as World Peace.
A devoted boy. Luzia can see that Emrys has taken to him, even in his usual arms-length kind of way. And honestly... he deserves it! He's quite good at his studies, particularly in the subjects of religion and diplomacy. He may state he doesn't have a strength in politics, but she's witnessed him bring a boiling argument from the most hotheaded students down to a simmer... MULTIPLE times.
Jojee simply wishes to become a person Emrys can trust. He feels like their visions align and that they can strive to bring peace to all of Fódlan with the Church. Perhaps he can convince him to accompany him to a tea time or two, there’s so much he’d love to discuss with him. So much he’d love to learn from the Archbishop himself. He’ll pledge his loyalty to him in an effort to maintain the peace he so treasures.
Jojee is a diligent student and shows great potential. Emrys believes he may have what it takes to become a close member of the clergy, one day.
He's so... RELAXED. Why are your eyes closed? Are you asleep? How do you even see where you're going...? She'd definitely try to prank him and jostle him around.
He enjoys her energy. There’s loud and obnoxious people but she’s the kind of loud that brings a smile to your face and lights the room like a sun! She gives off a warm, safe energy that has him smiling before he even SEES her. Even when she pranks him it’s all in good fun and her happiness is so infectious he leaves conversations with her smiling ear to ear!
He seems to dislike everyone and everything. How is someone so bitter and hateful and so easily angered the leader of Golden Deer? Makes no sense in his head coming from the Leicester Alliance.
Goddess-loving pig. Disgusting. He'll burn with the rest of the church.
Isn't that some priest guy?
Unsettling. Loud. Maniacal. Too much caffeine perhaps?
Jojee! He's grown fond of him. At first he thought he was a little strangeee...? But his presence is calming and he definitely thinks the church role suits him. He's kinder than most.
Garland! He’s obsessed with his pegasus. The beautiful dear. Why is it so perfect so wonderful? Probably takes after Garland! He finds himself wandering to the stables to accompany Garland and just chats away mornings with him as they brush hair and laugh. It’s calming and serene and they find themselves drifting off to conversations about some irritable Black Eagles boys.
His little priesty. They disagree and debate just about anything. Tactics, religion, politics, food, preference in steeds, ANYTHING. They start the morning discussing breakfast, what spices are best, 'oh, you support the red spice exploitation in Sreng?' fallacies. Then they leave their class and continue by debating noble houses and who shows the most promise, meeting at afternoon tea to then move onto how THEY would handle foreign relations with the outer regions of Fodlan. Finally, come dinner and study, they might actually discuss their projects and assignments, as well as how they feel about each other.
His warrior. They cant seem to agree on anything… even the topic of debate itself is something they debate on. A pacifist and combatant walk into a bar… and form an UNLIKELY friendship. Jojee is cripplingly fond of Kellen and finds himself drawn to him in a way like no other. He’s brash, secretive, and increasingly violent. But no matter his distaste for war and blood and fighting he’s at his side in an instant, softly scolding and nursing his wounds. Sometimes, he feels he doesn’t know Kelly at all… but other times? It’s like he can read him like a book. And what he’s reading is a mask.
His dearest friend. They grew up together, and were inseparable before they enrolled at Garreg Mach. Phyllon's father keeps trying to pry them apart but Garland refuses to let that happen. He has no right, being absent his whole life, and then acting like he can control every little thing he does...?! That's HIS best friend.
Garland is his dearest most precious friend. They grew up together, they’ve been glued at the hip for as long as he can remember in the small chilly mountain village. Of course if one goes to Garreg Mach they BOTH go to Garreg Mach. What he hadn’t expected was the reemergence of his father in his life… along with a horrid secret. He wants to maintain his precious connection with the one he so dearly calls “Parsnip” but as things progress at Garreg Mach he unintentionally finds himself pushing Garland further and further away, hurting him in the process. Is this secret and his father worth more than his relationship with his best friend?
Corvis is a good sparring partner. He’s quiet… and he finds it equivalent to a breath of fresh air. Just the clanging of their weapons filling the air and their comfortable silence. Corvis is a fine sparring partner… he respects his ability to keep his emotions muted and under control. It’s a feature he strives to learn from more rather than their sparring.
They spar together. Phyllon is one of the few that takes it as seriously as he does, and he believes he is a fine warrior. Though he hesitates to get closer, given his past of fighting Empire forces.
Anxious around him. He can see right through him, can't he? He can see that this is all just a ruse, right? He should stay far from him.
Kellen is strange. Just as every Black Eagles member is to him. They all have secrets. They all give one another a sense of distance most house members don’t have. But he gets it. He’s civil with Kellen but he feels they both know the other is hiding something and will respect the fact it will always remain unsaid and unshared.
