Kagerō's friend. He comes by with him sometimes and she's snapped at him a couple of times for trying to get too close too quickly. She wishes he'd just leave her alone.
It's not often that he meets someone he has trouble talking to, but with her he struggles. His attempts at being friendly have only gotten him growled at or met with a cold silence. He considers her a challenge to one day overcome and befriend, or at least be able to be civil with.
He values the kinship that she has with his grandson, Nué, and shows her kindness whenever possible. She doesn't generally say much around him but he will bring her a trinket from his travels every now and then as a token of his good will.
She's wary of him, not knowing how to handle him being so energetic and overbearing. She doesn't know how to act around him but does her best to be respectful due to his connections to Suiko and Nué. She usually feels very awkward and embarrassed in his presence.
They haven't interacted much and he doesn't know much about her outside of what Nué has told him about her. He's generally indifferent and cordial towards her but does find her very beautiful.
She sees him on occasion with him being another of Suiko's sons. They've barely spoken to one another but she's always had a curious interest in him. She secretly wishes they could get to know each other better, though she would never be the one to admit it.
She's very special to him and he knows she feels the same way towards him. He feels like he's the only one who truly understands that she's simply hurt and wounded inside and needs to be shown kindness and understanding. Though it's hard to convince others of this since she's too scared to be vulnerable in front of anyone else. He loves and treasures her deeply, but he also hopes that she can rely on more than just him one day. He genuinely wants to see her blossom and flourish, even when he gets frustrated at her callousness towards others.
The only elnin she's comfortable enough to show any deeper affection and warmth towards. She is fiercely loyal and protective of him, willing to lay her life on the line for him if it ever came to it. She considers him responsible for saving her and changing her life and would do the same for him without question.
When she looks at her she can only see a tortured soul trapped in her own cage. All the hurt behind her eyes seems so plain to see. She pities her a bit, but is extremely careful to not let it show. And instead makes an enormous effort to show her that there is good in the world and to include her whenever possible. She's internally overjoyed at any reciprocation she receives, but doesn't make a big deal about it. She understands that she must go at her own pace and is not eager to push her, lest she undoes any progress.
She's so proud of her son for what he was able to do for her. And she's dedicated to doing her part in contributing to encourage the two of them to grow together.
Her relationship with Nué's mother is an interesting one. She has trouble trusting adult elnin the most but Suiko has been nothing but kind, supportive, and patient with her. She wants to open her heart to her but is stuck with only a door ajar. Though rarely she'll feel bold enough to show her her happiness and gratitude, even if it's quick to recede.
