rules are easy; you can disagree with ppl but be respectful, this thread isnt the place for debates. its an opinion thread, not a life or death thread. got it? thanks, loves.

got a music opinion you feel is unpopular? post it here

ill go first; glass animals wouldnt be underrated if yall actually bought their albums instead of pirating that stuff from animation memes

ok have fun im gonna crash now if this thread has been done before rip ill remove this one

i will always prefer when a song has no 'chorus' or repeating verses. maybe its just me but listening to a chorus after ive heard it before is boring, ive already heard this i wanna get onto the next part 😭

an example from my fav band

when theres no repetition of verses/choruses i also find my attention is captured a lot longer. i notice myself skipping a song i like a lot once it gets to the second time the chorus plays just cause i get bored of it

i actually enjoy muzak …. yknow… generic corporate elevator music…

good tunes to put on in the background of doing something yk

^^ I don't do the same thing tbh, but songs without choruses are super cool and I wish they were done more. It's insane the amount of songs nowadays that have the same verse -> chorus -> verse -> chorus -> bridge -> even BIGGER chorus layout. It's not a bad layout by any means and I understand why it's popular, heck I can name several songs I like that use it, but god it's so overdone. It's almost becoming tied in with the definition of a song now, it seems.

I guess this counts as an unpopular opinion, but Klaatu's music deserves so much more attention than it gets. If you're lucky most people you ask will just know about the rumor in the '70s that they were the Beatles, and although that's pretty interesting and all, they still released 5 amazing albums! Great song writing, recording, orchestral backing, and don't get me started on some of those bass lines. Those three had a ton of skill and I don't think the group gets enough credit for it tbh. Anyway, if you like the Beatles go check them out, I think it's worth it.

Country is extremely generic imo (everyone sounds the same except for slightly different pitches) I won’t say they can’t sing, though, because they definitely can and I applaud them for not using autotune. The songs themselves are all about drinking and girls and love and it’s just… redundant.

The 2018 cover of Zombie is 10x better than the original. Same thing with Bastille’s cover of Dreams. The original lady that sings Dreams make me want to pull my hair out.

Oh, and if I hear Stay by Kid Laroi on more time I’m going to lose it.

Also forgot to add this but both daycare and nightcore are amazing in their own way. Nightcore is nostalgic and daycare is awesome for the edginess factor in audio edits and all that stuff. Take a Hint and Bad Boy and Welcome to the Club Nightcore just hits different. I can’t even listen to the original pitches of those songs anymore because they sound too slow and deep.

Sia is good at singing, I love her music but I do not like her as a person. Her “movie” ruined my taste for her as a person sadly.

Male/Female Covers of popular songs are usually not great, I also hate unplugged versions of songs. That or acoustic versions, why ruin an upbeat song just for the aesthetic.

Not sure if this is unpopular or not, but I feel like people miss out on a lot by only listening to songs and not albums. There’s so much song-to-song flow and unity that you can only get from albums and personally, I’ve tried putting my library on shuffle and it didn’t work for me. I can’t imagine just listening to songs in a playlist or something cause I always love listening to albums all the way through, but maybe it’s not for me.

Why do ppl ignore classical as a genre 😔 sometimes the only thing that can scratch my brain right is vivaldi or something idk

Taylor’s new music is good

^ YEAH, people actually do that?? That sounds insane to me pfft. Maybe if I wanted a very quick peruse to see what they were about I'd do that, but if I really want to get into them I'd just listen to them album by album. Also I forgot to even to mention some really cool transitional songs out there, as in when songs in an album connect to each other. They make listening to an album 10x cooler and I love them.

Anyway, mobile Spotify is really bad. That's why I ended up giving to their money-making schemes and going premium, only thing you can really do aside from having to buy the music yourself. Capitalism can be a cruel mistress sometimes but I guess it is what it is.

Classical music is extremely underrated. It has differences much like any other music genre. It has its highs and lows. Its popular and unpopular composers.

mother mother is not great. sorry it just does . the vocals are ... blech i used to listen to them in 7th grade (before they blew up) and honestly that was one of the worst periods of my life anyhow so my dislike of it makes sense but still . i hate that it's everywhere
