Ok, I hate this dumb mainstream way of singing where the singer sounds like they're half asleep and barely trying, I hope I'm coming across on what I mean. One artist that sings like that, that I can think of from the top of my head is Billie Eilish. It justs comes off as uninspired and insincere imo. The instrumentals in those songs are also usually lame and repetitive.

Though, to be fair, I'm very biased since the kind of music I listen to is loud, cluttered and not made with general audiences in mind unlike these ones. :L

More music should have lyrics/vocals as usual but with orchestral backings. Don't they ever get tired of just guitars and drums?

I have a few (probably unpopular? Maybe??) opinions. Maybe they’re popular opinions, but uhh.. I don’t really keep track of that stuff.

- People shouldn’t defend artists that have done horrible things/admitted to doing said things (I could name off a few but I won’t), only because the musician is part of a fandom, “popular”, their “favorite”, or because of the artists gender/race/sexuality/etc. Those things don’t cancel out what horrible stuff they have done. This also goes for artists who write songs that have really problematic (racist, sexist, homophobic, ableist, etc.) meanings and lyrics behind them. Honestly, those types of songs shouldn’t even air/be created in the first place, and artists who have done/admitted to doing horrible things should suffer the consequences for it regardless.

- Instrumental/remixed works deserve just as much love as the original/lyrical versions. It’s really relaxing esp when you find the right ones.

- Hmm.. not sure how popular or unpopular this one is, but honestly, 80-90s pop slaps.

judging by the state of this thread this is a very unpopular opinion 😳

billie eilish makes really good music. legitimately THE ONLY mainstream artist I’ve ever connected to the music of so deeply before. some of her songs make me cry every time I listen to them because the lyrics resonate with me and her voice and the instruments are so hauntingly beautiful and the sounds and the aAAHH just so good. listen before I go makes me sob every time, so does everything I wanted sometimes. they remind me of a darker time and just. just hit me with emotion. lovely is also a work of art, though I usually listen to a cover of it by lauren babic (which was my number one most listened to song on spotify too SHDJDHXKM).

idk bro I think her voice works well with her music. very good stuff.

👏 orchestral covers of game sound tracks are very cool. but they are not always better. The music in pokemon BDSP comes off as incredibly bland noise and sometimes even outright Shitty compared to the original soundtrack. (along with the whole game but thats not the point of this thread SDHGI)

100 gecs is unironically good, Dylan Brady does amazing remixes!!! Yeah it sounds like a clown getting trampled sometimes but maybe thats what I need in my life!!!

Downloading/Buying music >>>>> streaming music

No worries about platforms deleting songs on random, and less streaming-related compression. + not needing to rely on wifi for music is great

Also, dedicated music players are still great & really useful imo. My walkman (mp3 player, not the cassette) plays audio clearer than my other devices + it's convinent for things I don't want to whip out my phone for, like classes or exercise.

I have not and will not and will consistently refuse to exit my blackbear ‘phase’. That man puts out consistent bangers and it sucks that his popularity boils down to ‘hey he did hot girl bummer once right?’ and ‘do re mi was okay’ when those aren’t at all like the majority of his other songs.

much love blackbear i’m not leaving that phase anytime soon </3
