Things You Liked Before They Were Cool

Exactly what the title said. What popular and mainstream things were you (and still are) a fan of before they hit the mainstream and exploded into popularity?

I'm admittedly curious about what things you guys are the OGs of.

cookie run. i waz into it in 2018 after the death of cookie run line when the fandom waz fairly dead. it feelz so weird to see cookie run get insanely popular and get drama and all my friendz and everyone ik iz talking abt it when im not even into it anymore but waz into it in 2018 when it waz super dead. itz like divorcing someone, not hearing from them for 3 yearz, and then all of a sudden finding their new partners instagram acc.

I’m never really an og to any fandom really.  But I was pretty much an og when it came to Nyanko to Mahou no Boushi  (Petz Catz 2) here in english speaking counties!

Krita's way more well known than it was in 2014. It's really cool there's more resources & tutorials. And that it's somewhat respected as a Professional-level program outside of the FOSS & Free software communities (and thanks to Adobe's many screw-ups over the years Krita gang keeps growing lmfao 😂😂😂)

Minecraft! It had a pretty big boom when the big YouTubers started playing it, But I got it as a birthday gift from my IRL best friend for my 12th birthday (2012) so the game was still pretty young then and not too many people were playing it, I still play it to this day but not too often.

hozier's music, i've been listening to his music since 2017-2018 and he's gotten more a lot more popular since then!!

Rick and Morty is def one, I've noticed about the past year some of the girls at school wear Rick and Morty shirts and some even have stickers and tapastries. It's annoying cuz I'm sure they don't even watch it. I've been watching it since I was younger.

another one is LPS. Not any more but as a very young child, like 4, 5, 6, and 7 I loved my LPS toys and then I fricking donated them. but around 2016 I got back into collecting and playing with them, then 2017 came and "LPS tube" was like a really popular thing and LPS Amino- holy shit can't forget LPS amino. *dies from cringe*

back when he was just a narration channel, I was obsessed with corpse husband and he was by far my favorite of those kinds of channels. I listened to every single one of his videos at least 3 years before he became really popular and mainstream for different things like he is now XD

I remember hearing everyone talking about him on twitter one day and being surprised, like "wait... THAT corpse husband? the scary story narration channel? no wayy" lol

vocaloid definitely (at least in the western community)

i think since vocaloid is a lot more software-oriented there are cool things i know that a newbie wouldnt really understand

Danganronpa. Back when it was just the first game out, it was very niche in the western community. I don't mind mainstream stuff but the Danganronpa fandom is very different from what it was in the beginning, and I find it to be a bit annoying even though I loved the games. I think I just had a fading out of it.
