Doctor Jordan takes the book, and opens it. Almost immediately, dust spews everywhere, causing Jordan to start coughing up a storm. A Dust allergy isn't exactly good here.

I'm kind of scared."

Sigurd gazes at the stars and wonders if that was a good idea.

"Look at me now. I'm covered in scars, missing an eye and an arm, and I still can't decide who was in the wrong. It looked like he was hurting someone, I was acting in defense, but...the guilt in his eyes, it tells me I misunderstood his actions. Maybe we were both wrong...we both have regrets, and maybe we'll find a way to make up for this someday."

We stood in front of the closed doors for a final look at the place. It was falling apart, anyway, with saggy bricks that crumbled at the bottom, and a roof that always leaked. Despite the knowledge that hung over us the entire time it was open that it would never solve any of our problems, that it was only a unique distraction in the chaos of W-8772f, each and every memory that transpired from that building was a pleasant one. I'm sure I would miss this, but with all the financial struggles we undergo on a day-to-day basis, it was only a matter of time.

AB hung a hand on my shoulder, "Well, that's it. It's over. We no longer own a restaurant. Good times."

Stories don't do as good a job as you'd expect for describing the woods at night. Everything smells like coyote urine, your surroundings are a low contrast gray scale, and the moon serves no light to guide you. It's awful. But, I have to be out here, for a client. Not for good reasons, either, as you'd might expect. They practically demanded it, then forced me out here to get lost and seek refuge in the victim of his disastrous murder plot. Christ, humans, right?

I placed my palms against the table, and pushed hard against it for what seemed like the millionth time, and grunted at the ache building up in my horns as I did so.
