What are your trademark character archetypes?

This was a conversation my friends and I were having earlier about our characters: everyone has certain character archetypes they're a sucker for-- or maybe ones that they can't help but keep making. What's your poison?

You can interpret this generally: maybe archetypes like "jerks with a heart of gold", personality traits like "smug", storylines like "friends who fall in love", whatever types of characters you love to see or create!

My characters:
a) idiots but they try
b) feelings are hard let's never talk about them
c) conflict resolution is hard let's never talk about it

All my forum games and threads

Graffiti

-stupid cute boys

-shy cute boys

-cute boys

-cute happy pure angels with no character flaws

-seems edgy/mean but is actually nice and just doesnt like socializing

-has one (1) friend

-ugly androgynous furry girls that definitely arent a reflection of myself

-The Weird Ocs

-older independent female character with traumatic past

-or any combination of the above tropes

Taiyaki

I am super a sucker for (and often end up making):

  1. aloof regal/divine ladies and those who worship them
  2. ladies who can kill u (or will at least fite u; sometimes overlap with 1)
  3. ladies in charge in general
  4. sweet adventure girls
  5. gay and A Mess
  6. stoic/charming and princely bishounen
  7. enormous nerds
  8. soft and curvy moe girls (of legal age)
  9. tricksters and shapeshifters, often androgynous and mysterious

There may or may not be some others, but I just did a quick flip-through and literally almost every one of my characters fits into at least one of those categories, so xD

  • My characters are usually about the same age I am at time of creation and age up in reuses. I don't really play kids under 16. A few older characters, particularly in my Mad Science tabletop game.
  • Most of my characters tend to be obsessed with the mind. Therapists, psychologists, hypnotists, psychics etc.
  • Character designs are always by either my wife or best friend as I do not draw, the number of images they have usually indicates how popular they are
  • A good 90% of my characters are "therapy characters" and exemplify an undesirable part of my personality ramped up to high degrees for catharsis such as suicidal tendencies, unearthed rage/resentment, home sickness, guilt over abandoning family etc.
  • Most characters are designed to be reactive, rather than leading they are there to entertain other characters in a game through the way they bounce off of others or situations. They are not driving characters by design
  • Verbose
Swifty-wish

I LIKE: Emo dogs, blindfolded characters, "insane evil" types of characters (that big expressive laugh gets me, know what I'm talking about? Go look at Neon Toxin if not)
