ANNOUNCEMENT: THREAD CLOSING
People probably saw this coming from the increase in skipped/late weeks already, and while I really wanted to keep the thread running, I have come to realize it's just not something I have the time and energy to do. I have gotten increasingly more busy with IRL obligations and in turn used TH less and less, and after a little over 5 years it starts to get a bit more difficult to think of themes that haven't been used yet.
Nevertheless, it's been fun, and I have greatly enjoyed seeing all the characters people have posted here over the years! I didn't expect I'd keep up with this thread every week for this many years, with only a total of 3 skips (two of which are from the past few months). I would like to thank everyone who has posted their characters here and kept the thread alive!
Though I will no longer be updating this thread with new prompts, I'll keep it up & unlocked for people to post their characters if they still want to continue doing it - after all, this thread has always allowed people to post characters based on past prompts as well. I'm also cool with people remaking this thread on their own - just shoot me a message, and I'll link the new thread here. I still check TH daily even if I no longer have much of a presence around the forums.

I have a bunch but I'm gonna use this as an opportunity to show off Cyrus
His life turned upside down when he got into an accident that mangled his left knee beyond the point of it being able to make a full recovery, and so Cyrus had to say goodbye to rough outdoor games and basically everything that involves running or jumping, as his leg can no longer support him enough to participate in such activities. For someone like Cyrus who was always really outdoorsy and something of a jock it was a really tough spot physically and mentally, and even when his leg recovers as well as it just can it honestly takes years for Cyrus to really come in terms with the fact.
The accident really changes his life direction completely though because he initially planned on a very physical career like playing sports or something equally as physically active and demanding, but since he no longer can do that he's drawn first towards music and then eventually becomes a doctor as an adult
she used to be a princess about to be a queen, she pulled the 'if you wanna kill x then you have to kill me too' thing after someone blamed her old gf for ruining everything except it backfired and the angry mob was like 'well alrighty then'. and then she came back like 3000 years later and was really mad at everyone (understandably)
then she... realized she was being kind of a dick and just became a lonely ocean hermit who lives in a cave and she's surprisingly alright with that
.......90% of my character in this story fits this criteria a lot?? Because I guess the point of my plot is how a certain bad luck will change someone's life and that's how they'll get the "magic" or powers from it, and from a realistic standpoint it makes sense because my characters are young children that faced through their first "huge misfortune" where they're left with little choices in their life for that age and well...experiencing hardship and puberty is a part of their development or so :'D (that's why I don't have adults in this story much because why would they lean so much over one hardship on that age when they've prob experienced a lot-)
okay but back on topic, I could categorize on how much they changed like...
Drastic personality change: (Okay admittedly everyone in this story faced this at some point but I'll mention notable ones)
- Reika is one of the first character that shows this, she used to act like a normal young girl liking cute things and magical girls...but well, her parents' divorce and lack of attention towards her made her gradually become cold, distant and threw away all her childhood dreams.
- Spoiler for Takuto: Like Reika, he used to be a lot more energetic and happier...but then the time loop happened, he described that "the colorful yet pure white world I dreamed of...have turned into fade black since that day".
- Spoiler for Yunosuke: This one is more opposite, Yunosuke used to be a lot more gloomier and never smiled, it's his aunt who taught him to smile because it's supposed to be a good luck charm. It still does count that everyone that Yunosuke used to love, all passed away that made him slowly became afraid of himself, and even changed his life when his bad luck even took his own father's life-
Though, for the cases of these three, I think their life-changing moments were mostly as a part of growing up (especially Takuto and Yunosuke because they're 17 now and their past self was like looong ago) so the "drastic" is more of the huge contrast between their past vs current self, and not something they felt "forced" to change into...which will be the characters I'll mention in the next point:
Drastic life and identity change:
- Kagami, while keeping her identity, she was forced to live alone and remove anything that's related to her deceased twin sister because...well, she wants to stop being bounded by her now that she's gone (in a horrible way) :')
- Saki was treated as a famous teenage prodigy...that was until a certain accident happened and how his physical appearance was changed from it, making him quit his talent altogether and losing his fame and "friends"...
- Chiito ran away from home and lives in the boarding school after obtaining his powers...and decided to drastically change into someone honest, heartless and shows no remorse to anyone, ever. It was openly stated that he used to be a lot different before that, and well...he just couldn't forgive anyone anymore because of his past from being bullied and his weak-willed self to fight back... That's why he just changed himself into a completely different personality for the sake of fighting back those who hurt him, ahah
- Ah yes...Ayumu, probably the biggest offender of this prompt. I could show this artwork of her past self and it should explain enough :') Okay for some elaboration, she completely changed her name and appearance because of how her mother neglected her so much...she claimed that her past self never existed and think her new self is a completely new character, unrelated to the person she was before.
I guess Shizu went through a lot of change, from being seen as a slut, sleeping around with guys to make herself feel better and not lonely, now she’s found her true love. She’s in a better and happier place now.
In only months Pearl went from sweet little college girl to a ruthless and rude monster hunter, ambassador, and leader in her Hunting Organization, all due to her mother falling into sickness.
Another drastic change happened earlier in her life, when her mother finally got tired of the abuse from her husband and divorced him. After the divorce she took three of her children (including Pearl) to Atlanta from Washington, D.C.
I think most of my characters can fit this prompt to a certain degree, but I'll go with Dallas. He pretty much went from being your average high school senior to finding out he has telepathic abilities and becoming a key witness to a murder investigation all in less than an hour.
Kove used to live on the streets, raised their younger sibling and found themself involved in organised crime. They ended up being taken in by some nice folks after their sibling was injured, eventually becaming part of their family so now they have someone to rely on as well as much more wholesome employment.
