show your mentally ill characters

any type of mental/emotional disorder counts! no matter if it's diagnosed or not, you know your characters the best.

i have this boy who suffers of did, ptsd and other undiagnosed disorders :^(

Cecil Aoun Ricci polvo

Cecil had bpd (borderline personality disorder) and depression. I pretty much based his mental illnesses off mine, although I never had problems with alcohol and he did.

Also Abel, his SO, linked in his profile, has PTSD that can be triggered by any small amount of pain due to the tortures he suffered.

Alfard endiria

Alfard first came to my mind, this man is just mad, does self harm and is addicted to drugs

also, due to her horrible past, Taris definitely has a PTSD and even becomes mentally unstable

and there is something really wrong with Saida, this lady is a cruel sociopath and sometimes she acts like a schizophreniac, she really should visit a psychiatric hospital

Raven sillydoodlez

Raven suffers from severe PTSD and depression ;; Anyone who unexpectantly touches him will cause him to flinch violently, and surprises in general can drive him into a panic attack. He thinks very little of himself and can't really process pain anymore since he's been tortured for so many years. His depression has also led him to try to commit suicide many times v.v

Kurama Chordata

All my bois are mentally ill but this one takes the cake. He has undiagnosed ptsd, adhd, autism, and bipolar disorder which is mainly mania.

yngvar virtanen hokkaiido

yngvar is actually based on my mental health issues. he suffers the same mental health issues just like i do. he suffers from severe depression the most. he's trying to get make himself feel better and such, but he absolutely refuses to go to therapy again thanks to his terrible experiences with them in general.. especially his last therapist. yngvar's depression is heavily impacted by the events that has happened in his life. his first relationship and drug abuse are the major keys of him being like this present day. yngvar used to suffer from terrible drug abuse, but he finally managed to recover from it and is completely sober now. in his relationship, he went through a lot of emotional abuse, as well as sexual assault. those moments in that abusive relationship left him covered with the scars that he has today.. he may also suffer from anxiety. yngvar has attempted suicide a few times because of his depression, along with him being under the influence of heroin. he still has a lot of work to do in order to recover from his traumatic past experiences that he has received. he also struggles a lot with self harm and now uses it as a coping mechanism in order to ease himself down when he is in distress, or as a way of what he calls to "punish himself"

Sunset Carnelian SunsetCatto

Schizophrenia, Megalomania (NPD) , and I guess some level of Sadistic Personality Disorder

 Nobu Osovo

That is... almost all of my characters xD

I'll put this boy down for depression though as well as just having a deep and intense desire for someone to kill him in an elaborate way.

And then there is my sweet precious boy with ADHD who is a much more lighthearted character that I adore (profile linked in pic) to kind of give a range.

I love psychology and kind of can't help making most of my characters mentally diverse like that.

Vapor

i'll drop a couple of mine under the spoiler! cw for abuse / traumatic experiences / the like. it'll be blacked out tho.

// none of these are formally diagnosed in-story due to mental health fields being severely underdeveloped in the setting btw

Gregory has PTSD combined with an altered sense of self due to a brain injury. He also suffers from an eating disorder, less because of self-image issues but more so as a way to regain control over himself. He is also deathly hydrophobic. His fear of water is so bad that he is even unable to take baths.

Hala has postpartum psychosis, made worse by the fact her son was stillborn. She blames herself for not having been a good mother and wife. After labor, she became deeply depressed, confused, and obsessive over her husband and son. Her depression only grew worse upon divorce. In the years leading up to her death, she couldn't work properly.

Maribelle has PTSD as a result of both war time and abuse at the hands of her father. As a child, she was also very isolated, and didn't have any friends her own age, which is... very important for a developing kid. This left her socially underdeveloped, fearful, and unstimulated throughout her childhood.

Noel has depression and a mild case of PTSD as a result of war time. He is also an insomniac and an alcoholic, though of course this just makes the former conditions worse for him.

Otto has HPD. He prefers to be at the center of attention, and tends to make rash, impulsive decisions. And, again, because he is entirely untreated/undiagnosed, his illness really just... tears him up and gives him more reason to act inappropriately and harshly.

 Huang Meigui Oxyhocin

He is the only character that I have where I created him with the intention of writing/researching a disorder!

I'm trying to write him as a High-Functioning Psychopath that is Pro-Social and Charismatic, so not someone who is actively malicious in the traditional sense. (ie. he's not out to destroy things for amusement). The hardest part about his character is remembering that he cannot feel certain emotions and writing him to reflect that ;7;
