What's your preferred age range for OCs?

Pretty much what it says on the tin, as always! I was wondering about this since I see that many users seem to have a preferred age range, or sometimes an exclusive age range for their characters! What's yours? (I'm of course talking about physical/mental age here; keep that in mind if you mostly have immortal OCs)

Also, please stay nice in your replies! Having preferences is 100% okay, but don't insult people of a given age range (ie. "elderly people are ugly", "minors are boring"), whether you're referring to real life people or just characters. I want this thread to stay enjoyable to read for everyone, no matter their age or the type of characters they write.

Teenagers (14-17) to young adult (18-somewhere in the 20s), cause I can relate to them more since I’m 18 and still technically young

It honestly seems to shift with my own age. When I was 13, most of my characters were anywhere from 13 - 16. Now that I'm 21, the majority are 18 - 20s age range. Honestly most of my characters now are over 18 haha

I only have like, one character who's 16. I don't think I have anymore characters who are 13 or 14 and whatnot, as the characters that were I aged up as I grew older. I guess it's like, "Oh look at how my character is now, and they're older, they grew/character development," etc.

The only exception is when a character of mine is immortal. I usually seem to make them thousands of years old, like, more than 2,000 at least. Sometimes 200+ age range if they're old but not like, godly or something like that.

"20+" are my preferred OC age range, the OCs have a bit of my personality and experiences told differently so I tend to put it on an age I am. My youngest being somewhat more naive and oldest mature. "30+"

I tend to go 20-30ish, prolly cuz I'm in that age range lol. I've got a few in the 40-60 range probably because i hang out with a lot of old ppl.  I made a lot of teenage characters when i was a teenager but don't really make child characters unless I have to anymore :O

Guardy

Both 18-25 and 32-37 (using human AUs and similar for immortal characters).

The first age bracket are usually the plucky young'uns, who are still a bit green and going to do some serious growing up over the course of the story (they may be the protagonist, and if they aren't they probably think they are), while the second age bracket are the characters with the exciting and meaningful backstories.

I prefer to make characters ranging in age from 18-19 to 50s. Like, I just prefer to have my protags in my age range.

20-30! I sit in this age range, just barely, so that's prrrobably why!

Most of my characters are pretty young. It's partially since I'm still a youngun so I tend to write teenage/child/younger adult characters better given that's what I'm familiar with. One of my stories also largely focuses on the adventures of different groups of kids and teens during the summer holidays so that also lowers that age range of most of my main character. Another factor is that I am just the worst at telling how old someone is by looking at them so I have no clue how to age my characters unless it is obvious haha

ill .. put character name links in later im on mobile

like .. the complete age range for ALL my ocs is pretty wild .. it’s like  3-4 months(ragtime, who’s a kitten) to an eternity old .

though for my primary ocs i think it’s somewhere around 15-45 five or take - but it’s a very fluid age range , because characters have significant arcs when they’re younger than their current age . like, renee is 45 ish right now in the timeline , but her biggest character arc was when she was 25-30 . characters age as the timeline goes on, cuz that’s what happens in real life

there’s also a bit of teenagers because it IS in the pokemon universe , and teens running around and getting into fights with wild animals is just like . normal there djsjsiwjsh

though they will probably grow up someday because pearl started as  having 15 on her bio but now her more accurate age range is 17-18 because she’s gotten older in story

creepsheep

usually mine range from around 16 to 50ish? but a majority of mine are in their 20s

lilac-obsidian

most are between 16-mid 20s, some are like 40-50

Kogami

9~20. I can't draw older-looking characters and usually they're not needed in my stories/characters aside from parents so-- yep. It really does depends on the setting on my stories, I used to have those high-schooler centric characters but now I've expanded to a mix of elementary to high schoolers, I guess?

My friend commented that my OCs tends to be so young though. I never knew that is a rare thing until she said that ajhgdahd perks of liking so many stuff centered around kids, folks-
