Random OC ramblings

Posted 5 years, 3 months ago (Edited 2 years, 10 months ago) by Kogami

I wanted a thread like this but couldn't find any? Let me know if there's already one.

This thread serves as the lovechild of What are you thinking [IC] and General comments thread! As in, you want to make a general comment, or any random thoughts + ramblings (and as OOC) about your characters but doesn't fit in others character discussions thread and felt like the general comments thread doesn't fit either :'D

Just share anything you want as long as it stays within this guideline:

  • This is for OOC comments only, go to the original thread this was inspired from if you want to post your thoughts while roleplaying!
  • You're free to post as OOC or IC as long as your comment is OOC.
  • Questions, advices, suggestions or just any conversations are always welcomed~
  • Advertising your new character or projects related to your characters is fine, but try to minimize advertising anything for the purpose of profit/money like adoptables, character purge, etc.
  • No vaguing or namedrops, the latter one is only allowed if it's a positive thing.
  • I'm not sure if I would allow sensitive contents or venting/complaints here for now but at the very least try to keep it minimum or put it under spoiler or black text. Label it for safety. (NSFW automatically not allowed.)
  • Be nice and respect each other!!
  • Post as often as you want as long as it doesn't clog the thread!

Julia Wright/Henry Newman Cliodna

Julia/Henry died in hir roleplay recently. I'm currently taking a time-off to draw a backlog of headcanons and figure out what to do next.

It was a pretty good death. S/He'll be remembered positively and become a bit of a martyr, but it was still unexpected. I should've realized something was up when The General gave hir all the various honors s/he'd been missing from serving in WW II and a promotion for the deeds done in Wyderia. The game master was tying loose ends together.

And it's not like s/he can't be brought back. S/He's at a point in hir personal afterlife where s/he's technically capable of sauntering back to hir old body and returning as a self-aware zombie. Also the other players' character possesses the ability to turn back time - she could undo the whole fancy, heartfelt funeral and save my characters life, but our characters don't get along at all so...

Third option, offer up the entity s/he's become in the afterlife as an NPC and either end the roleplay or return with new characters. This One feels very...narrativically satisfying in a way, even if it isn't exactly canon right now.

I mean, I know I shouldn't bring hir back to life because s/he died at such a good point so as to have come out with all hir personal secrets and get all hir honors but not have to stay to deal with the consequences (also hir profile only supports up to four tabs so there's not enough room for any more character arcs :D). But there's still this sense of...you know, curiosity. Imagining how emotional the reunions could be, what s/he'd be like if s/he did become the mechanical-armed electromancer that s/he'd been aiming towards at the start of the roleplay and whether s/he'd become embittered and obsessed with demons, taking over the place vacated by Samson.

I just...I just miss hir.

That said I do have two character concepts for that roleplay. One's an investigative reporter, Christine Evelyn Anderson, who writes all sorts of ghost stories and spiritualism stuff until one day she stumbles on something that isn't a hoax. Could be interesting as a fresh character who's not emotionally numb and isn't afraid to act "feminine" might be a breath of fresh air. Then again her basic character arc WILL be identical to Henry/Julia i.e. "good character gets broken down, toughened up and turnt cynical because war-war-war".

The other is a demon possessing a human body, so the character arc could be less "good character toughens up or gets broken" and more "evil character learns to feel empathy". The idea has merit but I'm not sure I'd be comfortable roleplaying an entity who, at the start of their arc, would feel no emotions and feeds on fear. I'd be afraid of what my own imagination would cook up with the premise.

Plus I doubt either of them would grow on me the way Henry/Julia did, they'd just be vehicles for finding out setting information that my character never got around to figuring out.

two of my friends were talking abt one of my favorite ocs at 2 in the morning last night and honestly i've never been more flattered in my life

PS-X

I need to stop making characters, because I have too many owo

Blair Aarix

hmmmm thinkin 'bout.... blair

I really need to redesign him because his current design is A) not very appealing an B) kinda shitposty (I mean he still is like 40% shitpost but the other 60% is too serious for him to keep looking like a bad cosplayer of himself forever)
I'm not so good at thinking of high fantasy aesthetics tho 🤔
also I probably should get rid of all his dumb piercings & find other more sensible visual signifies of being quirky & alternative

artfight's soon that means the time to do refsheets is now! gotta get my life 2gether :0

Tegmelko

There is this old character that I want to bring back due to being a childhood character I loved deeply back then (even if he is a mary sue), but exept some facial and a bit of personality changement, I don't have any idea of revamp for him :(
No even an idea of what could be his universe, he wouildn't fit any of my 3-ish universes :/

Oh well ^^'

I don't always remember my ocs birthdays, but when i do I ruin their lives even more as a gift.

 CV-16 Liaoning Ledokol

Making a plot which real life events can either unexpectedly add interesting turning point or simply ruin the progress you already planned is a pain. And that's why Liaoning still has a blank profile to this day.

But I caught an interesting news of an upcoming event which will, for the first time officially, put Liaoning in the same place as Varyag. Yep, this likely leads to plot development between both of them but there's also another condition that isn't yet concluded regarded the future of Liaoning. If Liaoning got sold to Pakistan as rumored a couple of months ago then Varyag is likely going to initiate a conversation that will reveal Liaoning's past during the 90s.

On the other hand, if in the end Liaoning still serves in the Chinese Navy then Varyag will just keep his mouth shut. If Liaoning will leave for Pakistan, the possibility is Varyag may see the conversation as the least he can do for a farewell to his old 'friend'.

Warning - mention a bit about a very recent aviation tragedy. I hope this is still okay to post here. If not please let me know and I will remove it!

I'm extremely saddened by the tragedy in a Russian airport yesterday but it also makes me take a long, hard look at the plan I have of a future OC. Yes... I have planned to design a personification android of Sukhoi Superjet100 for some time. While this isn't the first accident with fatalities involved this model of aircraft, it's the first as an actual commercial flight.

I don't like making OC out of something that directly involved in tragedy so now I admit I'm wondering if I'll still create this OC. His role is minimal, nothing more than a background extended family member of Sidor and Tikhon, though it's not like I'll make him involve in this accident or mention it in the plot anyway. It just doesn't feel right to me right now.
