[IC] Association rambling

Posted 6 years, 6 months ago (Edited 5 years, 5 months ago) by Caine

Basically this is an IC game where the characters get to ramble about something they associate with what the OC above them has talked about!

This can be anything from really straightforward associations (A talks about Christmas and B proceeds to talk about how they never believed in Santa) or something more vague (Character C talks about their relationship with their parents, character D talks about what their childhood home used to smell like).

The point of this game is to just have fun and get to know your own and other people's characters through their small ramblings!

  • Your post can be any length you want! Just keep it short enough other people will have the stamina to read it to pick an association from there for their own OC
  • Make sure to claim your spot so nobody will snatch it while you type!
  • Your character doesn't have to respond to the character above in any way! However, they can do that if you want.

How this game works:

Character A: [talks something about flowers and how they like roses]

Character B: My father used to own a flower shop and I used to spend a lot time there [description about the shop and things they liked there]

Character C: I love shopping clothes but I don't usually have much money to do that!

Since there is no first post, how about the first poster's character talks about music! (what they like, if they play/sing themselves etc, anything they find relevant)

"Oh, I  write a lot too! Well.. maybe not fantasy or fiction works, but, writing stuff is seriously fun- I get it! I mostly stick to writing about chemistry or experiments- scientific journals to be honest. I love trying out new experiments and chemical reactions to see what fails or succeeds and how to go on from there. I know I know.. it's really nerdy but, I've developed a lot of gear through trial and error and it really helps having a journal on hand to scribble something down to and have it ready any time I need it. It's kind of like curating my own personal, scientific, library in a way... ohgodI'mrambling, what about you?"

Robyn usually found it hard to pay attention when it come to conversations, but she couldn't help taking an interest in Candy's ramblings. "Journal?" She perked up. "I love having one of those, too. Recently I've been going through tons because, sort of like your situation, it's always nice to have a place to store any loose thoughts that come to mind. Er, I have a lot of those... but not for science. They're all art experiments and bad poetry, haha.

"You mentioned the journal being like a library, right? Speaking of, I've also realized how amazing libraries are. I found this nice book about the histories of pastries and all this cooking stuff. Just like poetry, baking and cooking isn't my cup of tea...but seeing all these recipes makes me want to try it out."

"Those cooking recipes do look good! Once in a while, I like getting cookbooks so I can make some treats for my kids, but...wait, you mentioned poetry as well?! I love poetry, most of the books I have are full of poems! Poetry has always been the one thing that allows me to come out of my shell! I've always loved reading in general, but for whatever reason, poetry just fascinates me. I'm not really sure why I like it so much, though...maybe it's because it makes me feel smart or something. People always tell me that I give great advice, but the advice I give mostly comes from some of the poems I've read. I'd love to be a poet myself someday, and I do write poems on my own time...i-it's just that my anxiety stops me. It's the thought of becoming more well known and coming face to face with more people I don't know that makes me nervous...I can hardly make eye contact with anyone unfamiliar because I feel like they'll make fun of my face! ...O-oh, did I start rambling there? Sorry about that..."

"Oh, I just adore poetry! One of my favorite things in the world is to just sit down and write down a poem about any little thing that comes to mind- Actually, I just love writing every little thing that comes to mind! I have so many books and fanfictions out on the internet, all of them completed! I have six published novels and- Well, I lost count of how many fanfictions I've written. Don't you find it so relaxing to just sit down with a cup of coffee and write down a short one shot of your favorite characters falling in love? Oh, how about making a whole book on them falling in love in an alternate universe? Those are some of my favorite stories to write. Of course, those do have some bad sides. Once I start a long story, I'll fixate on finishing it and ignore everything else. One time, I was writing a long fanfiction for an anime about children and survival. It was supposed to be a very dark and depressing story based on a 'What if they never made it' you know?  Then out of no where, my roomate decided to show me the ENTIRE pilot of some indie animated show going around YouTube. Next thing I know, the entire plot of that fanfiction was changed halfway through and I accidentally created a crossover fanfic that had a very happy ending. the change happened during halfway throgh the third chapter and before anyone actually say my fanfic so I still ahd time to change the outline and- Actually, lemme stop ranting and show you the fanfic."

"Oh wow, fanfiction. I have a friend that writes fanfiction... Er, actually, I don't know if I'd call him a friend. He's just... there. I haven't read many of his stories because they're so edgy. It makes me roll my eyes, honestly. He's always boasting about how he's this amazing writer but I don't know, I've never really met a prodigy that's had to show off, y'know? Does that make sense? Like, usually people with the big skills, well, their work speaks for themselves. In my opinion, if you need to tell me constantly how good you are at something then maybe you're not as good as you think?

"Sorry, I guess I ended up ranting more. I didn't realize how much irritation I had pent up. Funny how things like that happen, huh?"
