WRITTEN NOTES

TIERS AND CREATION

  • The amount of Scyphozate required for a certain tier is as follows:
    • Tier 0: Any amount of Scyphozate will do.
    • Tier 1: 75mg
    • Tier 2: 125mg
    • Tier 3: 175mg
    • Tier 4: 200mg
    • Tier 5: 250mg
  • Your Perforator's tier (or in more common CS terms, their rarity) is determined by the total Scyphozate content of the items used in their creation.
    • Scyphozate is the fictional substance that turns a human into a Jelveil.
    • For example, a Perforator made from a 50mg pill and two blue gelatinous cubes would be Tier 1, as there's 80mg of Scyphozate total in those three items.
    • How much Scyphozate an item contains is written in the shop, or on the label of the pill.
    • You can use any item that contains Scyphozate, including Jelveil MYOs. You may also use duplicates of the same item.
    • Determining your Perforator's tier will take a little bit of math, so I've engineered you a wonderful [PERFORATOR CALCULATOR!] Use this tool here to figure out how much Scyphozate a bunch of items will add to.
  • If you're just going to make a Tier 0 Perforator, your most cost-efficient bet will be just buying a small Scyphozate bottle. They cost 1 SC, and have just enough Scyphozate in them to make you a Tier 0.
    • Do note that the amount of Scyphozate that this item contains is so little that it does not contribute whatsoever to the Scyphozate total if you're hoping to make a Perforator of a higher tier. (If you want an exact number, let's say they've got 5μg... which means you'll need 200 of them for one milligram. 200SC for 1mg. Why.)
  • You CANNOT split a single item to make two or more Perforators, even if the Scyphozate amount "overflows".
    • For example, if you use a SINGLE blue gelatinous cube, you can only make ONE Perforator.
    • For this reason, please get your Perfs approved with separate forms.

ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER

  • Yes, it's fine if you want to make your Perforator an AU of an existing OC. It can even be an AU of a Jelveil!
  • Like the Jelveils, you're free to give your Perforator a codename. Again, this isn't required, but it's fun and thematic, so I do encourage doing so.
    • Some examples: "Citizen Erased" for Azami and "King Nothing" for Null (and by the way, those are both songs I like).
    • This nickname doesn't need be to unique. It's okay if two or more Perforators share a nickname.
    • Yes, it can be a little silly if you want. No need to adhere to the "dark" atmosphere if you don't want to, just have fun.
  • Perforators, unlike Jelveils, typically have never been human (or even living/conscious whatsoever) before their creation.
    • Eviscerators are an exception, where they may form from memories, thoughts, or even a literal ghost of the deceased.
  • While most Perforators are made by and are loyal to the Undertow, a good amount of Perforators aren't affiliated with the organization or are even aware of it at all.
    • The blueprint on how to make a Perforator was canonically leaked, so it's completely possible for one to be built by a third party or even another Perforator. In the case of Eviscerators, they can come into existence entirely by themselves.
    • If your Perforator was built by a third party, it may be useful to consider what purpose they were intended to fulfill and how their filler relates to it.
  • Perforators are not "inherently" hostile, but may be conditioned or programmed to be. It's possible for one to go rogue and rebel against its creator, though it may also be useful to consider what exactly prompted them to do so. The "data" they compute off of are their memories and experiences, after all.
    • Eviscerators are generally hostile, but this isn't always the case. In the case of "positive" Eviscerators, though, too much of a good thing can turn into a bad thing.
  • You really don't need to follow the lore if you don't want to. It's okay to disregard parts or the entirety of the universe.
    • If you choose to disconnect your Perforator from the lore, you may face restrictions in some lore-based events. Feel free to make "AU" bios for these events, though!
    • Also, non-Scyph characters may still participate in the universe (have connections to either SCYPH.co or a specific Scyph character if you so desire. They may face restrictions in species events, however.

DESIGN NOTES

  • "Can I..." yes, you probably can.
  • Reaching Tier 1 or higher doesn't mean you HAVE to make a Jelveil crossbreed or use the new fillers unlocked. (You should probably do one of those things though... otherwise, there's just no point in unlocking that tier.)
  • All Tier 5 Perforators automatically become Eviscerators, regardless of whether they use the new filler unlocked or not. (Nothing else is unlocked in Tier 5, just the special filler and the Eviscerator subspecies.)
    • Thus, all Perforators with Tier 5 fillers are Eviscerators, but not all Eviscerators have Tier 5 fillers.
  • The spider legs do not necessarily have to look mechanical or even made of metal. They can resemble anything in terms of material... within reason, of course. They still are mechanical, after all.
  • The only hard requirements on how a Tier 0-4 Perforator can look are a general human upper half (this does NOT have to be 100% human AT ALL, you are free to do stuff like extra heads, inhuman faces, growth like wings and such), the filled container, the spider legs, removable head, and being physically tangible. Tier 5 Perforators (Eviscerators) do not need to be physically tangible, and can exist as merely concepts or ideas.
    • You're free to do stuff like "centaur-like" bodies, having the Perf walk upside-down, all sorts of wacky stuff so long as the basic conditions are met.
    • You're even free to make "hive-minds"-- connected systems of multiple Perfs (that would count as only one in terms of masterlisting and approval). In any case, the freedom is yours!

REDESIGN NOTES

  • You may edit NON-TRAIT aspects of the design freely without an edit item, but the general theme and design flow should remain consistent with the original. (In other words-- please do your best to keep the design visibly recognizable as the OG!) You should still submit this redesign for approval though, even if you didn't use any item.
    • The only things that you would need a redesign item to change are the container filler (including adding a new filler), changing the Tier, turning the Perf into a Jelveil crossbreed or removing Jelveil traits.
    • Once a character is redesigned, the old design is considered discontinued and can no longer participate in species events.
    • However, you can make another "version" of the character with another ticket and have them both be active.
    • You may reinstate discontinued designs-- just try not to do it too often.
  • If you are not the original designer, please refrain from redesigning a Perforator unless you have explicit consent (either from messages or a TOS clause) from the original designer to redesign their work. Please check in with the OG artist regarding to what degree they are comfortable with their design being altered.
  • There is no limit on how many outfits or hairstyles you can give your character.
  • Alternate colour palettes are allowed, even for traited design elements.

  • Any changes to traits will require an item.
    • This does not count for minor changes like colour and size/length.
    • This does count for changes to what trait it is, such as the material of the veil, what the tentacles resemble, the lucid mark shapes, EVEN within the same rarity tier.
  • Designs should not be altered to include hateful imagery.
    • Furthermore, take care to respect the original design's identity, including race, sexual identity, religious identity/clothing, body figure, or disabilities.
  • The redesign item is the Reconstructor. The Jelly Mix can also be used, but the Reconstructor is cheaper.
    • Keep in mind that the Reconstructor does NOT have any Scyphozate of its own. It can, however, be used in conjunction with Scyphozate-containing items to upgrade a Perforator's tier.
