PERFORATOR TIERS

NOTES
The tier system is likely a little different than what you're used to in CS-- but bear with me, I'll explain what's up.

Instead of having certain MYOs at set rarities, you can use any item that contains "Scyphozate" (a fictional substance that causes humans to turn into Jelveils) to make your Perforator. When making a single Perforator, you can combine multiple items, and if their Scyphozate amounts add up to a certain level, you can unlock another tier.

How much Scyphozate a Jelveil MYO contains depends on its rarity: 50mg for Common, 100mg for Uncommon, and 150mg for Rare. (This should also be printed on its label.) Veilthing MYOs contain 35mg. Other shop items have their Scyphozate contents written in the shop.

For example, I can combine two blue jelly packets for a total of 100mg. I'll write down the checkpoints for unlocking tiers below. To easily calculate how much Scyphozate a bunch of items would add to, use the official Kirchhoff-designed-and-licensed Perforator Calculator! (I absolutely intended that half-rhyme.)

SPIDER LEGS

NOTES
Spider legs MUST replace the knees and below of the otherwise human legs on a Perforator. You're free to have the spider parts take up the whole leg, or other parts of the body. You can also have extra spider legs appear anywhere else on the body.

The exact design of the spider legs don't matter too much, so long as they're visibly jointed and "spidery" and end in a sharp tip. There aren't much restrictions on how they have to look otherwise, and you don't need to follow any leg designs of existing Perforators completely. The freedom's up to you-- you're even free to make a "spider-taur"!

While these legs are canonically mechanical, you don't need to reflect this completely in your Perforator's design (ie. they don't actually have to look robotic), but it should be believable that there's machinery behind it nonetheless.

LEG TIERS

TIER 0TIER 5
Must look bug-like, spidery, end in a sharp tip, and be tangible and corporeal.

Do not need to look visibly mechanical or robotic, but should look capable of containing a mechanism otherwise.

Other than the restrictions above, shape, size, amount, and length are not traited whatsoever.
Similar to Tier 0, but the legs may be intangible/incorporeal, and visibly so. They should still be visibly present, however.
(NOTE: Tiers 1 to 4 will also follow this. They have no separate leg types for themselves.)"Ghostly" legs, wispy, etc.

CONTAINERS + FILLERS

NOTES
One glass (or clear material otherwise) container must exist on the torso of the Perforator. There is no maximum size, however, and multiple containers may be present. This is not traited.

While the container should remain clear, you're free to decorate it by etching/carving the glass, tinting it, adding cracks or holes, and anything of the like. The glass may also be shaped oddly, and do not necessarily have to resemble the body part that the container replaces.

All containers contain a "filler". Container designs themselves are not affected by tiers-- only their fillers are.

The container should not be "empty". Invisible or transparent fillers may be used, as well as the concept of emptiness/void, but "empty" in the sense that it doesn't really contain anything is not allowed. Multiple fillers may be used. If your Perforator has multiple containers, you're free to give each one an unique filler/combination of fillers.

FILLER TIERS

TIER 0TIER 2TIER 3TIER 4TIER 5
Liquids (includes semi-liquids, or substances that act like liquids but actually aren't).
Fictional liquids are allowed, but supernatural liquids are not.* The only "supernatural" liquid allowed is Scyphozate.
(Note: Tier 1 adds no extra fillers.)

Gases (includes substances with solid or liquid particles that otherwise resemble gas).
Fictional gases are allowed, but supernatural gases are not.* The only "supernatural" gas allowed is Scyphozate vapour.
Solids (includes organic solids such as plant matter or flesh, and complex objects such as machinery).

Fictional solids are allowed, but supernatural solids are not.* The only "supernatural" solids allowed are Scyphozate cubes.
Everything that exists and can be perceived in the physical world, regardless of if it actually consists of particles or not.

Fictional stuff is allowed, but supernatural stuff is not.*
Ideas, concepts, states, or "things" that otherwise only exist as subjective constructions and cannot be perceived as any one physical instance.

Supernatural properties are allowed.
Water, tea, Scyphozate, hydrochloric acid, perfume, bleach, lava, yogurt, slime, oobleckOxygen, chlorine gas, smoke, stardust, water vapour, phosgene, cloudsPlastic, flowers, eyeballs, stuffed animals, sand, metal, watches, rocky planetsShadows, light, fire, electricity, wind, heat, gravityLove, hatred, knowledge, math, science, religion, truth, happiness, souls, a video game or show (don't use actual titles please)

*NOTE: I define "fictional, but not supernatural" as a substance which can be reasonably seen as "scientific" with little suspension of disbelief required, regardless of whether this substance is possible or plausible in real life. A gas that gives you a certain hallucination and colour-changing fire would all fall under this umbrella, but a crystal that shoots lasers on its own and a potion that turns people into dogs would NOT. In other words, it doesn't need to be real, so long as it's reasonably realistic.

HEADS + SPINAL CORDS

NOTES
A Perforator's head is detachable. You aren't required to draw a separate form with their heads off or give a visual indicator, but this is good to know. You're free to add a "tether" between the head and the body so they don't fully detach, but this isn't always required.

Furthermore, Perforators are able to spray out their fillers like a perfume bottle's aerosol. (If the filler is a non-sprayable solid, assume that it can be powdered or otherwise ground up.) The spray may come from the throat or hidden fangs, but you don't need to draw out where the spray comes from. Just know that your Perforator can do it.

Perforators have a "spinal tube" that replaces their spinal cord. It acts like the plastic tube in any spray bottle, bringing the liquid from the container to the nozzle. You're free to customize how this tube looks, and it can be completely transparent if you so wish (so you don't have to draw it), but it will always exist.

HEAD + SPINAL CORD TIERS

TIER 0TIER 5
So long as it's physically tangible and corporeal, go nuts.

(NOTE: Tiers 1 to 4 will also follow this. They have no separate traits here for themselves.)
Nothing needs to be physically tangible or corporeal.

JELVEIL CROSSBREEDS

NOTES
If you have enough materials, you're free to make Jelveil crossbreeds WITHOUT needing to expend another Jelveil MYO or any additional items. Please also note that this is THE ONLY WAY to make a Jelveil-Perforator-- you CANNOT just use a mutation trait on a Jelveil MYO to make a Jelveil-Perforator. Also, crossbreeding is totally optional.

If you'd like, you can also use Jelveil trait upgrades and they'd function as normal (it would just give an upgrade as you'd expect the item to work on regular Jelveils). Items used this way WILL still count towards the total Scyphozate amount.

A Jelforator (I will call them that now) doesn't have to always have both Jelveil and Perforator traits active. You're free to make them look like a regular Jelveil for the most part, but have them reveal their Perforator features in a distorted form, or vice versa. HOWEVER, both sets of traits should be drawn in the initial reference for the sake of approval. And of course, you can have both sets of traits always visible if you wish.

Due to the high amount of freedom allowed with Perforators, consider most of the Jelveil add-on traits already "paid for" by the character's Perforator status. (EG. Perforators can freely have wings, so even a common Jelferator can have them.) This doesn't work for the Jelveil base traits, however. A common Jelforator can't have spider leg "tentacles" without needing an upgrade, and has to have a separate set of common Jelveil tentacles. The spider legs are still allowed to be present, of course. They just won't count as "tentacles" for trait purposes.

CROSSBREED TIERS

TIER 1TIER 2TIER 3TIER 4
(CB-ing is not available in Tier 0.)

Jelveil crossbreed with Common traits only.
Jelveil crossbreed with unlimited usage of Uncommon traits (and below).Jelveil crossbreed with unlimited usage of Rare traits (and below).Jelveil crossbreed with unlimited usage of Mutation traits, as well as Rare traits (and below).

(NOTE: Some Jelveil mutation traits allow for non-tangible tentacles and veils. This is allowed for a Tier 4 Perforator, but do keep in mind that NOTHING else aside from the veil/tentacles should be intangible.)

OTHER TRAITS

NOTES
Since Perforators are supposed to be built by YOU-- yes you-- or at the very least an in-universe representation of you, I've deliberately allowed many liberties to be taken with the design!

Aside from the listed traits, another requirement for a Perforator is a vague human shape for the upper body-- keyword VAGUE. So long as it has an upright head and torso, you're free to do quite a bit, such as giving your Perforator multiple heads or arms or even a non-human head.

Are long, centipede-like lower halves allowed? Sure! Can I make my Perforator upside-down? Go for it! Is it fine if I give them an army of a whole bunch of flying drones? Absolutely! You name it, it's probably going to be okay... for the most part.

Crossbreeding with a species that ISN'T Jelveils is exclusive to Tier 5. You will still need the appropriate items and permission from the other species, of course.

There is one last limitation for Tier 0-4 Perforators that I'll detail below. I've mentioned this a few times earlier on this page so you might be able to guess what it is, but I'll write it out anyway just to make it clear.

OTHER TRAIT TIERS

TIER 0TIER 5
(Also applies to Tiers 1-4.)

The Perforator must be PHYSICALLY TANGIBLE, CORPOREAL, and have their existence confined to ONE instance (eg. they cannot exist in multiple locations all at once, and must have a "form"). Like all living creatures, they must have one specific physical form, occupy one specific point in space, in a specific point in time.

For this reason, extreme shapeshifting is also disallowed (aside from Distorted forms for Jelforators). Changing stances or physical shape is allowed so long as matter is not transmogrified, destroyed, or created in large quantities. Following the "fictional, but not supernatural" rule, most things are allowed should they be reasonably scientific enough.
A base or "default" form is still required to contain species traits (spider legs, glass container, removable head, vague human shape etc). Otherwise, there are no restrictions whatsoever.

You're free to crossbreed with a non-Jelveil species, given that you have permission and the appropriate items.
