June 6th-The Choice

Virtue thought long and hard about what the ancient dying tree god just told everyone. She glanced at Vice, only to see him looking at the decaying soldiers warily.

On the one paw, she was an assassin. It's literally her job to kill people. But on the other paw, if no one died, then no one would have to go through the pain of losing a loved one. A pain she knew all too well. Now that she thought about it more, making the entire world immortal sounded like a curse. If a predator couldn't hunt the food they needed to survive, would they spend the rest of their eternal lives feeling the pain of hunger, but never able to let it overtake them so they could be freed from it?

Sighing, Virtue made up her mind. She needed to defend this tree with everything she had. The entire world depended on it. She stood up, surprising Vice slightly, and started walking towards the tree, attempting to appear as non threatening to his army as possible.

"Virtue, what are you doing?!" He whisper called.

"Making my choice, Vice," She said simply, "I can't, in good conscience, let that goddess do that to the innocent creatures in this world."

Vice looked after her in dismay, before sitting back down, torn between what he believes in, and the cat that he loves.
