School and education system

School and education

FOREWORD

★ *The hours, months and seasons mentioned in this info is based off of Ditee-ath time, months and seasons. Please look in the info of Ditee-ath to see how time, months and seasons work.

★ Ditee-ath has a school and education system, with the purpose to teach and educate Gems. School and education is free on Ditee-ath, since it is paid through their taxes. The system is setup like this:

1. Preschool (5-6 years old)
2. School: 1st grade to 10th grade (6-16 years old)
3. College (16-19 years old / ages can very)
4. University (Ages vary)

★ Gems can alsobe home schooled by their parents, if the parents stick to the schedule that will be given to them by the government. The parents will have to send in a monthly report to the government about the child's progress.

PRESCHOOL

★ Preschool is like kindergarten, but is called preschool, because it is a one year school they go to, to get prepared for school, while still having time to play.

★ A preschool year starts on the 21st of Tuidri (Last month of Saiwhar) and ends on the 8th of Sadri (first month of Saiwhar). They have four breaks from preschool during the year:

- Lhanar break: One week from the 8th of Adri to the 13th of Adri. (Autumn break)
- Yelwhar break: Two weeks from the 22nd of Nimadri to the 8th of Udri. (Winter break)
- Fhranar break: One week from the 16th of Kaahdri to the 21st of Kaahdri. (Spring break)
- Saiwhar break: Six weeks from the 11th of Sadri to the 20th of Tuidri. After this they start 1st grade. (Summer break)

★ Preschool starts at 9am and ends at 15 four days a week from Uradas to Vendas. While being in preschool, the kids have three subjects that they have to study, which are their language and their traditions and mythology.

★ They learn what the symbols of their alphabet look like, how they are pronounced and how to write them. They learn this in preschool, so they won't have a hard time with it when they start 1st grade.

★ Traditions and mythology are taught together in one class, since some of their traditions are linked to some of their mythology, so it is easier to teach them together in one class, rather than in two separate classes.

★ A day in preschool looks somewhat like this:
9 -10 = Play time
10 - 12 = Ditathee study
12 - 13 = Traditions and mythology
13 - 14 = Snack
14 - 15 = Play time

Some days can also be more focused on Ditathee without having traditions and mythology on the schedule, and the other way around.

SCHOOL

★ 1st grade to 10th grade are all kept in the same school. They are not split into three different schools like primary, middle and high school. However, the different grades are split up within the school. 1st grade to 3rd grade are kept together in one part of the school, 4th grade to 7th grade are kept together in a second part of the school, and 8th grade to 10th grade are kept together in a third part of the school.

★ The school year starts on the 21st of Tuidri (Last month of Saiwhar) and ends on the 8th of Sadri (first month of Saiwhar). They have four breaks from school during the year:

- Lhanar break: One week from the 8th of Adri to the 13th of Adri. (Autumn break)
- Yelwhar break: Two weeks from the 22nd of Nimadri to the 8th of Udri. (Winter break)
- Fhranar break: One week from the 16th of Kaahdri to the 21st of Kaahdri. (Spring break)
- Saiwhar break: Six weeks from the 11th of Sadri to the 20th of Tuidri. After this they start 1st grade. (Summer break)

★ Gems go to school four days a week, and depending on what grade the Gem is in the length of the school day varies, but they go to school four days a week from Uradas to Vendas.
1st grade to 3rd grade = 9 - 15 (6 hours)
4th grade to 6th grade = 9 - 17 (8 hours)
7th grade to 10th grade = 9 - 19 (10 hours)
*Those are the longest recorded days. Some days may be shorter.

★ The subjects that Gems are taught in school are similar to those on earth, but these subjects are mandatory to learn while they are in school, as they are building-blocks for when they move on to college. The subjects are:

All of these subjects are mandatory to learn while they are in school, as they are building-blocks for when they move on to college, where the teaching system is different.

★ Gems don't have exams until the end of 9th grade. They have a two week study break, which starts on the 20th of Iimadri (last month Fhranar) and ends on the 7th of Sadri. Their exams are scattered out on the days during their study break, and they usually have 2 written exams and 3 oral exams. The last exam is always the day before the last day of school.

COLLEGE

★ A college year starts on the 21st of Tuidri (Last month of Saiwhar) and ends on the 9th of Sadri (first month of Saiwhar). They have four breaks from college during the year:

- Lhanar break: One week from the 8th of Adri to the 13th of Adri. (Autumn break)
- Yelwhar break: Two weeks from the 22nd of Nimadri to the 8th of Udri. (Winter break)
- Fhranar break: One week from the 16th of Kaahdri to the 21st of Kaahdri. (Spring break)
- Saiwhar break: Six weeks from the 11th of Sadri to the 20th of Tuidri. After this they start 1st grade. (Summer break)

★ Gems go to college four days a week, from 9 - 6, so they are in college for 11 hours, but some days may be shorter. When they are working with internships, they might start at work earlier and end work later. A work day can be 10-16 hours long.

There are two types of colleges on Ditee-ath:

Option 1:
The first type of college is sort of like school and targeted towards Gems who want a higher education at a university, for example: astronomer, engineer, lawyer, doctor, etc. They go to college and study the subjects that are relevant to the subjects they would have to study at university for their education, but at a lighter level before they're faced with the high level subjects. This college system takes three years.

The level of the subjects are higher than when they went to school, and the higher the level, the more difficult the subject is.
- First year: Subjects are level C
- Second year: Subjects are level B
- Third year: Subjects are level A

Gems who wish to take a new education can read up on the subjects relevant to their new education before going on to university. This can be done in two years instead of three, if the Gem already has graduated some of the relevant subjects once. When they start at the new university they have to do all of the years required there.

Options 2:
The second type of college allows a Gem to start on their education right after their Saiwhar break from 10th grade. Examples of educations a Gem can start are: confectioner, baker, chef, plumber, electrician, retail, etc. These types of education are typically 4 years long.

When they are working with internships, they will have fewer breaks:
- They won't have the break in Adri. (Autumn break)
- Their Meridee-ath break starts on the 24th of Nimadri and ends on the 4th of Udri (Winter break)
- They won't have the break in Kaahdri, since that is close to the exam time, and they keep their break during Saiwhar. (Summer break)

The first year will be dedicated to study the subjects that relates to the education the Gem is taking and will be looking for an internship within that field. On the 21st of Iimadri they study for two weeks, do exams and then have break until the new school year starts.

The second year they'll be working where they have their internship for three months, then back to school for one and a half months, and then they work with their internship until the 20th of Iimadri. Then they have two weeks to study for exams, and then they have Saiwhar vacation until a new school year starts.

The third year they work with their internship. They have six mandatory courses to attend that relate to their education. On the 20th of Iimadri they study for two weeks, do exams and then have Saiwhar vacation until the new school year starts.

The fourth and last year of their college life. The entire year they work with their internship without returning to college for classes, or go to courses. On the 21st of Iimadri they get their big exam project, which is decided by the place they intern at, along with their college. They have two weeks to finish a written project, as well as making a visual presentation of their project, to show off the skills that they have learned during their time studying and working at the internship. For example: Gems who take an education related to food have to bake/cook a dish from the place they interned at. The owners, two workers, and three teachers from the college decide if the Gem passes or fails. If they fail, they have to redo the last year.

Gems can take a new education if they wish to do a career change.

UNIVERSITY

★ A university year starts on the 20th of Tuidri (Last month of Saiwhar) and ends on the 9th of Sadri (first month of Saiwhar). They have four breaks from university during the year:

- Lhanar break: One week from the 4th of Adri to the 10th of Adri. (Autumn break)
- Yelwhar break: Two weeks from the 22nd of Nimadri to the 8th of Udri. (Winter break)
- Fhranar break: One week from the 9th of Kaahdri to the 15th of Kaahdri. (Spring break)
- Saiwhar break: Six weeks from the 10th of Sadri to the 19th of Tuidri. After this they start a new year. (Summer break)

★ Gems go to university four days a week. They don't have classes from early in the morning to late in the afternoon as they do in college. They have lectures that are spread out throughout the week. Some days they might have three lectures, while other days they may only have one, or none at all. It all depends on which lectures they are required to take for their education. The length of the lectures can vary from 1 hour to three hours.

★ They have tests and minor exams every second month, and until their study break starts on the 20th of Iimadri. Then they have two weeks to study before their big exams. After that they have Saiwhar break before the next year begins.

★ Some university educations do require some internship work as well, for example teacher or doctor. Usually the internship work doesn't start until halfway through the second year, or when the third year begins.

★ University is the highest level of education a Gem can take, and the time it takes depends on which level of university graduation a Gem wants.
- Bachelor: 3 years in university
- Master: An additional 2-3 years in university.

JOBS

★ Just like on earth there are all sorts of jobs. Baker, chef, police officer, salesman, retail, flower shops, teacher, doctor, lawyer, judge and so on. (If you want to know more about jobs on Ditee-ath, please look at the "Jobs" document).

★ A typical work day starts between 8 or 9, and ends between 19 or 21, so a 10-13 hours work day. Grocery stores are usually open from 8 to 25, so they are open for 17 hours.

★ Working Gems do not have the same amount of breaks as a student has.

- Lhanar break: One week from the 4th of Adri to the 10th of Adri. Not all working Gems has this break. (Autumn break)
- Yelwhar break: From the 24th of Nimadri to the 4th of Udri. (Winter break)
- Fhranar break: One week from the 9th of Kaahdri to the 15th of Kaahdri. (Spring break)
- Saiwhar break: Three weeks break during Saiwhar. They decide for themselves when they have their Saiwhar break, but they have to notify their boss 1-2 months in advance, so it won't clash with too many other workers. Stores, malls and companies usually don't close entirely through the Saiwhar break, so there always have to be some workers to take care of stuff.
