Appearance

All Aviasaurs have an ostrich-like body, with strong scaly raptor-like hind legs.

Their arms are covered in feathers and appear as wings when folded.

At the end of their arms they have 2 sharp claws and a “thumb” claw.

They have a large serrated beak with a pointy end and a split tongue.

Aviasaur anatomy by Metalharpey

Males have a rubbery, hard crest that comes in different shapes.

Females have feathery crests instead.

They don’t have ears, but there can be somewhat larger feathers around the ear holes or a small bit of skin similar to a chicken.

Their neck, back and tail can have all sorts of feathers which identify them individuals.

Behaviour

Aviasaurs tend to live and hunt in small packs of 3 to 4, which consist of both females and males with it being rare to see a pack with only 1 gender. Aviasaurs are nomadic and don’t stay on one spot for a very long time, the only exception to this being a few weeks during late spring and early summer when they reproduce.

Aviasaurs are predators and don’t shy away from any prey they can fit in their mouths, including Skivets. Even creatures larger than them aren’t safe. Sometimes it requires a bit more help to take down large prey, therefore they have a special hunting call which notifies any Aviasaurs nearby for help.

Reproduction

Females can take multiple mates during their heat in late spring. During heat, the crests of males become more colorful.

After a small period, the female will lay eggs in early summer. When the pack notices one of their females is about to lay eggs, they will all help make the nest.

Once the eggs are in the nest, the adults will take turns brooding. After all the eggs hatched, the pack will stay for about a week before moving on, giving the chicks time to strengthen up.

Mutations

Originally, we weren’t sure if we should add a long tail or not. After some consideration we decided it should be a mutation. That means it’s a closed trait.

So how do you get one?

On the Skivets Discord, in the Unbelievaboat channel, you can buy a Mutation Potion with Skivet coins. Full explanation can be found in the channel!

Long Tail

Your Aviasaur will grow their tailbone to your preferred length.

This can be any kind of tail, as long as it’s deadly!

Raptor Arms

Your Aviasaur will lose the feathers on its arms, giving them a more raptor-like appearance.

Scaled

Your Aviasaur will lose some feathers, and the skin beneath will be covered in scales the same color of the feathers that fell out.
