Jaycee Pawman

ℹ️ Basic Info

• Jaycee is the great-granddaughter of Ella Pawman, a prolific film actress, adventurer and humanitarian. A lot of pressure and hope was placed on Jaycee at a young age. 
• Jaycee is the owner of a special forces organization known as the “Jaycee Pawman Squad”. The agents of JPS specialize in problem-solving situations for Toons worldwide. She is definitely not ready for the responsibility!  
• Jaycee struggles as a JPS Agent because she’s in a job that emphasizes conflict resolution, dangerous adventure, and occasional violence. However, Jaycee does receive support from her cousin Cat Canada, and her co-worker and tutor Wayne.
• Being a toon, Jaycee is resilient to some damage. She can pull random objects from behind her back, utilize cartoon physics, and can address the audience beyond the fourth wall… as long as it’s funny! 
• Jaycee has both human and cat-like mannerisms. She is very clumsy due to only having one eye. 
• Jaycee is fearful, shy and  anxious under pressure. She sometimes has child-like impulses that override her cowardice.  
• She was mostly homeschooled and grew up extremely sheltered. She didn’t have reliable internet, and mostly learned about the world through books, TV shows and films. As a consequence, Jaycee is very immature, timid and gullible for her age.

🎭 Personality

Jaycee is a naive optimist, and always believes the best intentions in others. She has a strong sense of morality, and she happily helps others unless it puts her in physical danger.  

The only thing that can shake her optimism is her extreme anxiety. She has dozens of random phobias, and worries about things that are out of her control. Jaycee has acting talents and a desire to perform for others, but has incredible stage fright. 

When alone in her room, she likes to play pretend with her toys and plushies. She pretends they are on a broadcast, and she role-plays news stories, talk show interviews, soap operas, sitcoms, documentaries, ToonTube videos and famous films. She is very self-conscious about this behaviour and only Ella, Cat Canada and Wayne know about it. 

Jaycee is aromantic asexual - she is not interested in a relationship  with anyone beyond a friendship. However, she really enjoys romance  stories. She's just uncomfortable if the romance involves HER.

Jaycee’s insular upbringing has made her naive to the rest of the world. She has a difficult time differentiating between fiction and reality due to learning everything from TV shows, books and movies. She struggles with standard school curriculum.

Jaycee is very suggestible to the will of others, and can be easily hypnotized, possessed or tricked. 

Jaycee does not like fighting or violence, and will run away at the first opportunity. If cornered, she will attempt to fight back with silly cartoon gags pulled from behind her back.

🧬 Biology

As a Tooniverse denizen, Jaycee has the typical biology and abilities of a cartoon character. Jaycee can pull objects out from behind her back… but only when it’s funny!

Jaycee has both human-like and cat-like characteristics and mannerisms. For example, she has good night vision and purrs like a cat, but bathes herself like a human. 

Jaycee does not have depth perception since she only has one eye. She has awful hand-eye coordination and is generally very clumsy.

Jaycee grew up sheltered, and has little experience against addictive substances and behaviours. Because of this abstinence, it’s very easy for her to overdose on sugar, gamble away her money, and buy micro transactions on video games.

She has the very rare ability of "Fourthsight",  a Tooniverse ability that allows her to address the audience outside of  the 4th wall (that's us!). Any Toon without Fourthsight cannot see this  audience, and they believe those with Fourthsight are hallucinating or  mentally ill.

🔍 History 

As of right now, Jaycee’s past is a bit of a mystery. Jaycee was born in Sillycon Valley, USA. She was removed from public life at a young age, and grew up in Canvasville, Canada with Ella Pawman as her guardian. 

Jaycee was in public school until partway through second grade. After an incident, she was pulled out and homeschooled. At some point in her homeschooling, she picked up learning American Sign Language. 

Jaycee does not like talking about her past. She will avoid any conversation about her family, upbringing and schooling. However, she loves to talk about her great-grandmother Ella Pawman. 

Due to Ella’s increasing senility, Jaycee became the heiress of Ella’s worldwide problem-solving organization through legal shenanigans. Cat Canada and Wayne become her co-workers, and help to guide Jaycee on this new adventure.

Jaycee knows basic American Sign Language.

Jaycee’s name combines both of her parent’s names - Joy and Tracey. Jaycee’s middle name “Ellanore” is named after Ella Pawman.
