Hatto Sudo (須藤八斗 Sudō Hatto) is a major character in Corpse Party: Forbidden Rebirth. He is a student of Misato Municipal Brotherhood High's classroom 2-4, and a victim of Heavenly Host Elementary School.

Hatto is a supporting character in TRUE END, GOOD END, and BAD END, a main character in REVERSE END, and the true protagonist of LOST END.

Design

Hatto is a teenage boy of above average height and thin build, with auburn hair and one visible olive green eye. His right eye is a deep blue, and is always covered by an eyepatch when he leaves the house, as it was a subject of bullying when he was in elementary school. He has thick eyebrows and a sharp jawline. His pale skin can make him appear sickly to some, and the dark circles under his eyes add to this effect.

His fall school uniform consists of a white collared shirt with the first two buttons undone, revealing a gray t-shirt underneath, along with the black slacks and brown loafers of the uniform. He keeps a red pen in his breast pocket, and is usually seen carrying a pale green notebook to go with it. He has many uneven self-harm scars along his right arm.

His casual outfit consists of a black longsleeve shirt with a forest green military-style jacket layered on top, along with dark grey pants and a pair of black combat boots. His jacket has multiple patches sewed on in different places - the Japanese flag on his right shoulder, the German flag on his left shoulder, a black, red and white snake on his left breast pocket, an eye with a red iris on his right breast pocket, and two identical roses on either of the lower pockets. These patches were all sewn on by his older brother Daichi when the jacket belonged to him, and Hatto hasn't added any of his own since acquiring it.

"His style: Simple, military, neutral, formal, leather belts, rarely showing arms. Typically neutral colours, black, beige, browns, dark greens with red and white accents. Doesn’t care for fashion, but knows the importance of looking presentable. Snakes, eyes, roses, bugs, moths. Dark cardigans, button-up shirts, simple long-sleeves, bomber jackets, cargo pants, slacks, loafers, combat boots. He only wears t-shirts when the weather forces him to. Hates showing his arms, but will leave his shirt unbuttoned quite a ways down. Much of his ‘aesthetic’ is inspired by his older brother - his primary jacket, a military-style bomber covered in patches, originally belonged to him. Only takes his eyepatch off in water or at home. Almost always has his red pen in his breast pocket."

Personality

Hatto is a cold and intimidating boy from Misato Municipal Brotherhood High's class 2-4. A quiet and prideful person, he keeps his distance from others, and prefers to observe those around him from a distance rather than actually interact with anyone. His blunt way of speaking coupled with his typical scowl and towering stature often leaves even third year students feeling afraid of him, and as such, he’s rarely approached by others. However, this hasn’t stopped a few of his fans from leaving love letters in his locker, even if none of them could ever work up the courage to speak with him.

Hatto observes the world around him through a warped lense - a combination of childhood abuse, psychological trauma and untreated disorganized schizophrenia have left him to interpret his surroundings far differently than the rest of his classmates. He suffers from extreme memory loss, as well as frequent visual and auditory hallucinations on a regular basis. To deal with his trauma, he took up writing poetry and short stories as a hobby, and it remains his most effective coping mechanism to this day. He projects most of his emotions onto his original character, Miyu Akagi, a young vigilante woman living during the Taishō period who deceives any man who crosses her path and fights against the injustices of the world around her, ultimately until her demise. Despite his plain way of speaking, his poems are eloquently written, and are often described to be realistic enough to make the reader feel the same emotions as the writer did.

Although he intentionally comes across as aloof, he’s extremely loyal and caring to those who have made friends with him, often going out of his way to do favours for them without even being asked. He frequently makes lunches for his classmate, Yuma Misaki, after noticing she almost never had one, and always saves a seat for her on the train home. He’s also surprisingly good with children, and is always willing to watch his best friend Yoshiyuki Shinohara’s little sister, Ryoko, when he’s busy. However, he always makes excuses for himself to make it seem like he doesn't care as much as he does.

His sleep schedule and habits are both extremely bad, due to a mixture of trauma and insomnia that has plagued him for years. He finds that he becomes more creative at nighttime, and will frequently pull all-nighters, only to nap in the school’s library sometime the next day. Part of his sleep avoidance is due to vivid nightmares he has almost every night, and have resulted in him disliking sleeping alone or without a small light on. Despite his introverted nature, he prefers to sleep in the library where he knows other people are around him, and refuses to sleep in a separate bed when he stays over at Yoshiyuki’s.

Though his hair is often messy as a result of his poor sleeping habits, Hatto has impeccable hygiene and organizational skills - he thoroughly cleans his room and organizes his desk a minimum of three times a week, and occasionally even showers twice a day. He’s unable to focus on anything when the space around him isn’t clean, and he has a habit of cleaning up after Yoshiyuki whenever he spends time at his house.

Both due to genetics and his general affection-starved childhood, Hatto has an addictive sort of personality, as proven by his dependence on caffeine to get him through each day. He tends to get addicted to anything that makes him feel better, though in most cases, he’s able to get himself under control before anything terrible happens. His parents were both addicts in their own right, and as such, Hatto refuses to drink alcohol in order to prevent an addiction he may be predisposed to. However, the few times he has accidentally touched a drink, he’s been shown to be an extreme lightweight.

He cannot stand being touched by anyone he doesn’t trust, and even those that he's comfortable with cannot touch his head in any way - doing so results in intense flashbacks that can cause him to be sick instantly.

Plot

Backstory
For the first nine years of his life, Hatto was raised in an abusive household, in which his father was an alcoholic police officer and his mother, also an abuse survivor, was intent on raising her children the same way she was raised. Both him and his older brother, Daichi, had been accidents - their parents weren't married, and neither of them had ever intended to have kids.

Hatto was extremely isolated for these years, and had no outside contact with other family members. The only people he could trust and rely on were Daichi, who sheltered him and kept him safe during their parents' rampage, and his best friend Yoshiyuki, who had protected him when he was being harassed at school. Daichi made sure to keep him fed, while Yoshiyuki often invited him to sleep over, and between the two of them, Hatto was kept safe and as far away from his parents' abuse as possible.

There was an underlying secret in Hatto's family, one he never found out about, even in the present day. Hatto's bloodline from his mother's side held immense spiritual power, strong enough to even manipulate reality if used correctly. Both his mother and grandmother were unaware of it, but Daichi had figured it out - however, he had no idea how to use it. Unwillingly, Daichi would see 'snapshots' of the future in his mind, but these snapshots could not be altered, no matter how hard he tried - he could work around them to a degree, but whatever he saw would always be the end result. Although he detested the power, he used it to make sure Hatto would be safe whenever something bad was going to take place. This worked very well, until one day, the snapshot he saw was that of Daichi himself being shot by their father. Knowing already that there was nothing he could do about it, he gave Hatto a hug, handed him his jacket and sent him off to school for the day.

Later that day, Hatto was pulled out of school by police and questioned intensely about his brother and the state of his home life, as neither of his parents would talk. The investigation combined with the realization that the only 'parental' figure in his life was now gone forever traumatized Hatto so badly that, even with therapy and counselling, he would never be able to function independently again. He was placed in the custody of his grandmother on his father's side, who had no idea any of the abuse was happening due to being isolated from the family.

Unbeknownst to him, as a result of their bloodline's power, Daichi's spirit had still remained in reality throughout this time. Having watched the impact of his death on Hatto's mental health, he was heartbroken, and decided to absolve him of the pain by erasing the memories of his death from his mind. This was such an extreme task that, by the time he was done, Daichi had very little power left and his spirit disappeared

Although he did accomplish what he intended, the side effects of the memory loss were perhaps more major than the impact of the death itself. Because the memories were ripped in such an unnatural way, Hatto's reality became completely distorted. If he tried to ask someone about Daichi, or if anyone mentioned his name, strange things would happen. Sometimes it would be loud static ringing in his ears, or other times the person would be forcefully interrupted, unable to finish their sentence. In junior high, he scoured the graveyard in search of any remnants of a gravestone, only for him to black out and be found by police days later. Eventually, it became clear he would never get the answer, and he stopped trying to find it.

This memory loss made therapy sessions difficult, as he couldn't talk about Daichi's death at all, not to mention much of his childhood was blurred together. The only way his therapist found that she could get him to discuss his trauma at all was through the writing he did. It had begun as a way to vent, but many of his experiences were subconsciously being revealed through his poems, which made it easier for her to work with him. Despite this, Hatto began suppressing more of his feelings, and he was eventually discharged from therapy at the beginning of high school, as he claimed he no longer needed it. However, that was far from the truth - he just hated sharing such personal feelings so openly with a stranger.

Now in high school, Hatto adjusted well to living with his grandmother, and felt safe in her custody. She taught him how to cook proper meals and take care of himself, allowing him to be self sufficient. Despite her feeling terrible for not being able to remove him from his living situation much earlier, he easily forgave her and is simply content to be living with her now.

Heavenly Host

If you know nothing about Corpse Party, be sure to read through this quick glossary first! It'll make a lot of terminology easier when reading this section!

Prologue
Though not initially invited, Hatto heard that Yoshiyuki was going to classroom 2-4 after school by Tomoe Mizuki's request and tagged along, since they normally went home together. Once everyone had gathered, she presented the Sachiko Ever After charm and explained its' significance to the group, before inviting them all to perform the ritual with her. The ritual involved holding a paper Sachiko doll in a circle, chanting and tearing the doll to pieces. Once everyone agreed and understood the rules, they tore apart the paper doll, and Hatto put his scrap in his pants pocket for safekeeping. Shortly after the ceremony, an earthquake occurred and opened a gaping hole in the floor that he and the others all fell through, leading them to Heavenly Host Elementary School.

TRUE END
A short while later, he awoke in the school's principal's office with no idea what had just happened. Due to his spiritual power, he was more susceptible to the darkening than any of his classmates, and it began to develop almost immediately after he regained consciousness. Despite not being aware of it, the darkening built up further the longer he stayed inside Heavenly Host. It eventually peaked when he ran into a group of six junior high classmates, resulting in him losing control of his body and taking all of their lives with his pocket knife.

It wasn't long after this that a sudden earthquake occurred, large enough to shake the whole building. Unbeknownst to him, these earthquakes enabled him to shift through the different closed spaces of Heavenly Host, and when the dust settled, the hallway he was in looked completely different than before. Although the earthquake had knocked out a few lights in the hallway, there was just enough light for him to make out a figure at the end of the hall, which he quickly matched to his classmate, Akihiko Kagurazaka.

Luckily for him, the darkness of the school concealed both his weapon and the blood on him, so Akihiko took no notice of it. While he was distracted trying to make small talk, the darkening took hold of Hatto's body again, and he plunged his knife into his classmate's stomach. Due to the haze over his eyes and the awkward angle, it wasn't a well aimed attack, and Akihiko was able to attempt an escape. However, it was short-lived - after collapsing at the end of the hall, Hatto approached him and flayed open his stomach in silence.

Following the kill, Hatto left his body at the side of the hallway and continued his exploration of Heavenly Host. As a result of the fluctuating time in the closed spaces, he was there for several days, allowing the darkening to gain almost complete control over his body - however, because he wasn't experiencing any true negative emotions yet, it was unable to actually kill him on it's own. Instead, he roamed the school in a daze, collecting any hidden 'treasures' from bodies and classrooms along the way.

Eventually, he finally saw a familiar face - Yoshiyuki, looking shabby but alive, greeted him with an unexpected hug. He told him he'd spent all of his time searching for him and Shin, and was happy to find someone alive. He mentioned he'd found Yuma's body a short while ago, and Hatto informed him that Akihiko had died as well. After a brief moment of silence, Yoshiyuki asked to see his body and pay his respects, and Hatto obliged and led him to his remains.

Once Yoshiyuki's back was turned, he took advantage of his vulnerability and shoved him, causing him to hit the ground hard. At the same time, one of the bear traps that littered Heavenly Host triggered, catching a large chunk of Yoshiyuki's calf in its' jaws. Hatto leaned in, ready to deliver the final blow, when a sudden strike to his head caused him to crumple. In the commotion, neither of them had noticed Yoshikazu Yanagahori at the end of the hall, who ran in to strike Yoshiyuki - but when Hatto moved, the hammer struck him instead, splitting his skull and killing him instantly.

Epilogue (TRUE END)
After Hatto's death, his spirit was briefly freed from Heavenly Host's grasp, and he found himself alone in an empty void with no memory of what he'd just done. To his surprise, he encountered Daichi, who tried to play it off like everything was normal at first. He talked to Hatto as though he'd just run into him on the street, commenting on how much he'd grown over the years, and that he was sad he covered up his eye now. However, when Hatto admitted he knew this wasn't real and he had figured out that Daichi died, his whole demeanour changed. He apologized profusely to him, and explained how he'd taken his memories in order to give him a good future, and never intended to leave him feeling so lost and confused. In return, Hatto apologized for causing him so much trouble as a child, and Daichi told him he never did, and he loved him more than anything.

After a moment of silence, he told Hatto this was the last time they were ever going to see each other. He'd used any remaining energy he had to see him one more time, and he knew his grip wasn't going to hold for much longer. With no time to spare, they were forced to rush their final goodbyes as Hatto's spirit was forcibly returned to Heavenly Host.

When he awoke inside the school again, this time as a red spirit, he retained no memory of his encounter with Daichi. He made his way down the hall, collected Yuma’s head, and proceeded to the principal's office, where he barricaded himself in and rendered the room completely inaccessible.

GOOD END
Similarly to TRUE END, Hatto was afflicted with the darkening almost immediately after waking up in Heavenly Host, and it continued to grow the more time he spent there. However, his mental state was considerably better, as he wasn't given the chance to kill Akihiko, and Yuma didn't end up dying. This hindrance allowed him to retain his sense of self much longer.

Though he wasn't aware of it, a few of his classmates had appeased one of the child spirits, Ryou, which resulted in an earthquake that caused some of the dimensions to merge together. During this earthquake, Yoshiyuki fell through the floor from above and landed close by. When he noticed Hatto, he greeted him with an unexpected hug, and Hatto, fully conscious this time, told him about some of the things he'd seen around Heavenly Host so far. Out of habit, he slipped his hand into his pocket as he spoke, but paused when he felt something in it. He fished out a small key labelled 3-A, and, despite being confused about how the key had gotten there in the first place, decided to investigate the classroom with Yoshiyuki.

They unlocked the classroom door, and were shocked to find Shin inside, alive but exhausted. At the sight of them, she began to cry and hugged Yoshiyuki, explaining through tears that she'd been trapped for hours and was sure she was going to die there. Yoshiyuki spent the next few minutes comforting her, as she refused to let go of him, while Hatto investigated the classroom for anything interesting. Once she was ready to go, the three of them made a plan to try and find the rest of their classmates and escape the school.

A short while after Shin was freed, another earthquake, this time caused by their classmates appeasing Tokiko, occurred. Once it was over though, Hatto suddenly became violently ill, and the group was forced to stop momentarily when he could no longer stand. He vomited up a black tar-like substance, which he initially thought was blood - however, it was actually the darkening purging itself from his body. Though Yoshiyuki and Shin were concerned, he told them he felt better now that it was out of his system, and with no other options, they continued pushing forward.

While wandering the halls, they came across an old, torn-up plush that resembled a black cat. Despite Yoshiyuki telling Shin not to pick it up, Hatto watched her sneak it into her backpack, but decided not to say anything since it seemed harmless enough. However, just a few moments after, a large earthquake occurred that shook the whole school. He thought it might be related to the plush, but what actually happened was their classmates had appeased the third child spirit, Yuki, and the closed spaces were merging together. Not long after, all ten of them were reunited at last.

Once regrouped, they discussed everything they'd found out about the school, from its' many closed spaces to the child spirits that made it up. Tomoe explained to the group that they'd performed the initial chant incorrectly, and to get back home, they needed to perform the ritual the right way this time. In order to do it correctly, they had to chant once for everyone in the group plus Sachiko herself - and, since it seemed like all the spirits had been appeased, everyone agreed that now was the time to perform the ritual again. However, in the middle of performing the chant, there was an ear-piercing scream from the outdoor walkway that made everyone jump. Forgetting about the ritual for the moment, Hatto and the group ran outside just in time to witness the principal fall from the school rooftop, stuck in a suicide loop. Hatto studied the scene intently, and realized he had a weird sense of déja vu. Without realizing what he was doing, he climbed over the fence, waited for the principal to fall again, and picked up a key that had fallen on the ground next to him. The key was too small and dull to be visible, and he had no idea how he'd known it was there, but he pushed his concerns to the side to pursue what was really important.

Tomoe reminded everyone of the principal's office in the second wing, and they set out to see if they could get in. Unsurprisingly, the key worked, but the room gave Hatto such an intense migraine that he couldn't bring himself to explore, and left the investigating to his classmates. While checking things out, Mitsuharu noticed a hidden switch in the space heater that opened a secret passage, and Ken found a fourth tongue inside the principal’s desk drawer. He told everyone that touching the tongue caused him to experience a flashback to another child’s murder, and Tomoe confirmed there was a fourth victim in the case, although she was said to have survived - however, the tongue most certainly belonged to her. Filled with questions, the group descended the secret passage's ladder to get to the bottom of the story.

The passage led them to the abandoned bomb shelter, where Sachiko herself awaited them at the end. Ken tried to offer her the tongue, but it only seemed to anger her further. They found themselves frozen in place, and she raised her scissors to Kokuhaku, ready to strike. Ken pleaded with her enough for her to stab him instead, but in the split second she struck him, her power wavered enough for Shin to pull the black cat plushie from her bag and throw it at her. The tongue combined with the plushie was enough to make Sachiko repent, and her spirit was freed. Akihiko and Kokuhaku checked on Ken, while Tomoe urged the group to get out of the basement, as this was their only chance to escape. With barely any time to spare, he and the others made it to the outdoor walkway in time, and were freed from the school’s dimension.

Epilogue (GOOD END)
Once he got back to reality, Hatto's life went back to normal fairly fast. He ended up taking a lot of his experiences from Heavenly Host and channeling them into his writing, allowing him to develop on his character, Miyu Akagi, even further. Although he told himself that Heavenly Host didn't traumatize him and that it was actually quite interesting, he suffered nightmares more frequently than normal for a few weeks afterwards, as well as migraines and intense nausea. These physical side effects were the result of his exposure to the darkening for such an extended period of time, and although they didn't threaten his life, he still found them annoying.

In his third year of high school, his grandmother suddenly became very sick, and after a little while, it was clear she wasn't going to get better. A few weeks later, Hatto had to take her to the emergency room, where doctors confirmed she didn't have a whole lot of time left, and it would be best to just spend time together and enjoy what they had. Since she didn't have a contagious illness, and there was nothing to be done for her health, the three of them came to an agreement that she would stay in her own house until she passed away, with Hatto acting as her caretaker. He knew this day would come eventually and had mentally prepared himself for it, though he hadn't expected it to be so soon. He kept his composure and followed the doctor's orders, not wanting to worry his grandmother more than he had to.

One night, he and Yoshiyuki were sitting at her bedside in silence, taking in the atmosphere and getting lost in their own thoughts. As his mind wandered, Hatto began fidgeting with his hands, trying to work up the courage to say something. After a few minutes, he asked if he could ask her a question, and she nodded in reply. He hesitated and stalled a bit, but eventually asked if she could finally tell him what happened to Daichi, and give him the truth this time. She sighed and went quiet for a moment, but agreed to tell him the whole story. However, before she could get a word out, she suddenly went into cardiac arrest. Yoshiyuki began to panic and tried to help her, but Hatto froze, unable to bring himself to move at all. Despite Yoshiyuki's best efforts, she was dead within minutes.

Once he realized there was nothing he could do, Yoshiyuki collapsed onto his knees next to Hatto and apologized profusely for not being able to help. He was still frozen in shock as he tried to process what just happened. With his parents' status being unknown to him, as far as he knew, he had just lost his last living family member - and even though he knew it was impossible, it almost seemed to him like he'd caused her death. Before he could stop himself, he broke down in tears and began to sob loudly. Yoshiyuki wrapped his arms around him in an attempt to comfort him, and he didn't resist at all this time.

Following his grandmother's death, Hatto's demeanour became slightly softer as he began to isolate himself more again. He made the decision to move into Yoshiyuki's apartment for the remainder of the school year, and once he'd graduated, the two decided to move out together. They found a one bedroom apartment that was both cheap and closer to Yoshiyuki's college and part-time job, and thought it was perfect - they'd already been sleeping in the same bed since they were kids, so it didn't make sense to them to waste extra money on a two bedroom place. By the end of the month, they'd collected their belongings and officially made the move.

Between Yoshiyuki going to college, working his part-time job and still going home to spend time with his little sister, Hatto found himself alone in the apartment often. He had no interest in attending post-secondary school, and the inheritance he'd gotten from his grandmother was paying his rent each month with ease. Since he had no reason to go outside, he simply stopped - he would wake up, sit at his desk, and write until he fell asleep again. This became an unbreakable cycle for him, to the point where he would forget to eat or take care of himself. His workspace, once his source of pride for its' organization, became cluttered to the point he couldn't see the desk beneath the mess. His hair grew longer, as he would forget to make appointments to get it cut. Over time, he became almost completely cut off from society, and would only leave the house after dark when it was absolutely necessary.

As he isolated himself, he became less stubborn and more submissive to the things around him. While he'd normally instruct Yoshiyuki not to make breakfast for him, as he didn't want him to waste his time, he eventually stopped fighting it and just let him do what he wanted. It was almost like he was a different person, and it was concerning Yoshiyuki more than anything. It got to the point where he couldn't bear to watch it anymore, and essentially forced Hatto out of the house one Friday morning to get coffee with him. Although this was only because it was the first thing he could think of to get him outside, it became a routine that they would get coffee together each Friday morning from the same café. Despite it being so minor, the addition of a bit of sunlight into Hatto's daily cycle helped him feel just a bit better.

Nine months later, almost all of the employees in the café knew them by name, and would have their orders ready by the time they got there. As they went to pick up their usual drinks, a black coffee and a mocha frappuccino, the barista offhandedly referred to Hatto as Yoshiyuki's boyfriend, taking them both by surprise. They quickly clarified that that wasn't the case, but as they sat down at their usual table, Hatto could tell Yoshiyuki was lost in thought. He decided not to mention it for now, but once they were back at the apartment, he asked if the comment had bothered him. Yoshiyuki hesitated, but eventually asked if he thought that maybe the barista was right about their situation - with them living together and how close they'd always been, it really did seem like they were a couple. Hatto thought about what he said for a minute, and realized that in a way, he was right. He'd never felt the kind of bond he had with him with anyone else, and he could never see himself being so vulnerable with a woman either.

After what felt like an eternity, he replied by saying that he wasn't sure. They sat in silence for a few minutes, before Yoshiyuki asked if maybe he wanted to try being something more, and they could just go back to being friends if they were uncomfortable. He took a second to process the magnitude of the question, but decided he didn't really have anything left to lose, and accepted.

They eased slowly into their relationship, since neither of them really knew how to date properly or where the other person's boundaries lay when it came to affection. Despite this, they made small changes each day that added up over time. He learned more about Yoshiyuki's comfort levels, and quickly discovered how much he loved having his hair touched, which became something he would do absentmindedly. In the same way, he learned things about himself - he already knew he hated having his head touched, but he learned that he liked having his hands massaged, something he wasn't aware of before their relationship. It was a few weeks before he could bring himself to tell Yoshiyuki he loved him without getting too embarrassed, but despite this, he felt more comfortable being with him than ever before. They took care of each other and always made sure they were feeling alright, and even though Hatto was still fighting against returning to society again, the support Yoshiyuki provided him allowed him to recover from his trauma a bit more and cope with things in a much better way than he had in the past.

Relationships

Yoshiyuki Shinohara44791df05dc2c9094b353844b3e75a395549dde8
Yoshiyuki is Hatto's best friend, and the one person he trusts more than anyone else. After Yoshiyuki protected him from bullies in elementary school, they became friends quickly, and even in the present day, Hatto is almost always by his side. Their differences allow them to mesh well together, and Hatto could never see himself being closer or more intimate with anyone other than him, especially since Yoshiyuki is the only person he's okay with touching him. Although he's more than capable of taking care of himself, Yoshiyuki always makes sure to check on him when he's been quiet for too long, and is generally the one to drag him out of his room when he hasn't left the house in a while, something that gets more frequent after he graduates high school.

Two years after the events of GOOD END, Hatto and Yoshiyuki move in together. A year later, they end up in a relationship.

Yuma Misakic5358421ec3906dc2f7781366218736608518055
Hatto has something of a fascination with Yuma, and tends to observe her behaviour and mannerisms from afar. In their first year of high school, he asked her if she would be able to repair the rips in Daichi's jacket, resulting in them becoming better acquainted with each other. Since they ride the same train to and from school every day, they usually sit beside each other in semi-comfortable silence. While his interest in her isn't romantic in nature, he does use a lot of her influence when writing about his character, Miyu. In a way, he considers her to be his muse.

Shin Aichi669bcd7e8d0b00211c40af06095e6df7e81ea375
Shin and Hatto aren't exactly close, and they more or less spend time with each other solely because they're both Yoshiyuki's close friends. In saying this, Hatto doesn't dislike her at all, and actually finds her quite tolerable because of how quiet she is. She's also the only person who has ever made him like sweet things, as she sometimes bakes some suited to his tastes (thanks to help from Yoshiyuki in choosing flavours).

Akihiko Kagurazaka14f2c7e2be49f96bcfc3555a0291635692574f02
Hatto heavily dislikes Akihiko, and considers him extremely annoying and far too rowdy for his liking. Akihiko often bothers him during class by throwing things at him or poking at him, which is made easy, as the two sit next to each other.

Trivia

  • His favourite colour is forest green.
  • His favourite foods include goya chanpuru, salmon, edamame, miso soup, and salmon onigiri.
    • His favourite food is his grandmother’s goya chanpuru, but besides that, he enjoys simple Japanese foods above all else. He’s okay with a bit of spice, but ultimately prefers mild, even bland foods that are easy to eat. His food choices are less about the taste and more about him simply needing to eat.
  • His favourite drink is black coffee.
    • He’s extremely dependent on caffeine to get through the day. Black coffee is his favourite, whether it’s hot, cold or iced, and he hates ‘spoiling’ it with any kind of milk or sugar. Black teas will suffice if coffee isn’t an option, but they aren’t his first choice.
  • His least favourite foods are sugary things.
    • For the most part, he simply doesn’t care for sweets because they’re too sugary for his tastes. There are a few exceptions to this, such as coffee-flavoured desserts and the occasional Japanese sweet, but they’re few and far between.
  • When it comes to his meal habits, he takes turns preparing meals with his grandmother, and his cooking is above average. While his grandmother specializes in Okinawan cuisine, as she lived there in her childhood, Hatto’s meals usually consist of Japanese staple foods like rice, grilled fish and miso soup. He’s perfectly content with the simplicity of his meals. His eating is a bit disordered and he sometimes forgets to eat altogether, but he often snacks on onigiri during the day.
  • When it comes to his sleep habits, he rarely can. It takes him hours to fall asleep and he almost never sleeps for more than a few hours. Frequently plagued with nightmares that wake him up screaming. He can stay awake for class, but tends to doze off in the school library on his lunch or after school.
  • He uses the personal pronoun "ore" when referring to himself.
  • He has autism, schizophrenia, dissociative amnesia, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and haphephobia.
  • He wants to own a snake when he's older; he can't own one at the moment because his grandmother is terrified of them.
  • Because he wears his eyepatch so frequently, his right eye is extremely light sensitive and he's lost a lot of vision in it.
