Short description

The mysterious child who appears just at the story's beginning. One woman - Britta - meets little Linnea at the railway station, when she carries her younger sister with her. She doesn't know why she is there, she has only a letter with her. The person who wrote it wanted them to be taken to Braivada village. Linnea is the first halcylian appearing in the story, but it takes some time until she shows her Light. She wanders everywhere, lives with many families, but can't find her own place. It turns out that there is one serious problem with this girl - she forgets about all people she met in a few days, and all the people also completely forget about her, too. No one can recognize her anymore if she disappears for some time. What's the reason of this? She is probably cursed, but why and by who?

Personality+story

Linnea is a brave, stubborn yet kinda emotionless child who is often misunderstood by others. Her face is always blank and she almost never show strong emotions, what often makes people think there must be something wrong with her. In the fact she's very fascinating with everything and loves to trying new things. Tends to talk about weird things and is interested in totally random objects. Can get focused on something for very long time, she loves to paint and stare at buildings, she also likes horses. She's quite clever and doesn't believe in many things that other children usually believe. Yes, she does not believe in supernatural beings, while she, herself, is one, kind of. She is not aware of being a halcylian, but when she finally releases her Light, she is very impressed with it and is willing to learn how to use this Gift. She tries to be as individual as she can, but she is also never afraid of people, she's very trustful and likes to meet new persons. When she finally gets to know the fact she constantly forgets the people she meets AND the people forget her too, she starts to think it's just normal thing and everyone is experiencing the same. Linnea eventually realizes it's not common after she gets taken in by Anastazy Agvald, young man from Braivada, and starts to wish for discovering the truth about her weird case. There is answer for it, but it takes some time until it gets solved.

When Linnea appears, no one knows where did she come from. She firstly gets adopted by Britta Ericksen, who already has three adopted children, but after some weeks, she gets lost again - and forgets about Britta, while Britta and her boys forget about her as well. In that time, Linnea caught attention of one of these children, Eb Steen, who, for some weird reason, associated her with Ester's novel's character, Flora. Linnea herself was more enchanted by Rikko Alensen, 15 years old boy who eventually tried to search for her relatives in Braivada. With no results. Due to Rikko's fault, Linnea gets separated with Astrid, who ends up in orphanage. After that time, Linnea wanders around basically with no memories about any people and gets taken in by many different families, but no one wants to keep her. She meets Adam, the Svindal brothers and even Saida, but she doesn't remember it - her memories get erased after 1-2 days when she's not with the certain person. Even when someone later finds her again, they just don't recognize her. The only exception seems to be Eb, who has opportunity to meet Linnea two times and always promises himself that he won't forget about her again.

One day Linnea gets lost in a big city and accidentaly steals very important documents with plans of destroying the Braivada village, made by the mayor, Marten Himmel. Linnea is found by Anastazy Agvald and ends up in Braivada; he decides to take her in and leaves her with Niklas Grense, old man who becomes kind of good grandpa for her. Thanks to Linnea, Ester could read Himmel's documents and predict his actions against her village. Ester tries to look for her parents in Braivada, as the girl turns out to be a halcylian, what suggests that her family had to include some halcylians as well - but there is still no one that recognize this kid.

Family + Curse
In spring '98, thirteen new halcylian people arrive to Braivada, brought by Amaralf, who saved them from some insane lady (already known in the village). One of this people was Ciris Hjorson. Ciris is a very unfortunate man who was kidnapped by his mad ex-girlfriend some months ago, along with the other halcylians - because this woman hated halcylians with a burning passion. What's more weird, this woman was a halcylian herself. Ciris revealed his story to Amaralf, who realizes that he, in fact, had heard about Eurienne Feirnyl before. Three years before the main action Eurienne came to Braivada with Hjorson. For first few months everything seemed to be okay for them, but one day Eurienne gathered a big group of halcylians in one hut and set the building on fire. Ester managed to save them, but after this, Eurienne disappeared, abducting some halcylian people with her. Eurienne started to develop strong hatred towards halcylians for her own personal reasons (there were many, one of the reasons was something that Saida has done to her). She had her own "prison" for them in her own basement - in around 3 years, she got 13 people there. After she got separated with Hjorson, she desperately wanted to have her daughter there - it wasn't even clear that she is also a halcylian, but Eurienne was obsessed with it and stated that she'll get both of the girls anyway, and get rid of them. Ciris, who was a loving father, but quite a coward, started to looking for help for his children. Ciris ended up his relationship with Ri after two years and he already had other partner who he had another child with. Seeing that Eurienne has gone completely mad, he wanted to hide his children somewhere. He tried to come back to Braivada and contact Ester, but he got lost in the forest with both of his daughters - in that moment, he suddenly got surprised by a tall bearded old man, who offered him his help. Silorind suggested that he will make his children safe and Eurienne will not get them, so Ciris accepted it, not really knowing what this man plans to do. What Silorind did was actually a kind of a test of his freshly sketched "curse". He told Ciris that from now not only Eurienne, but NO ONE will remember their children (the curse was stronger on Linnea than Astrid). Ciris was absolutely shocked and scared, but he knew that he's not gonna forget them if he'll always stay with them. One day he noticed he is followed by Eurienne again. He was so desperate to save his daughters from her that he decided to leave them and let Eurienne take only him. Hoping that they'll find peace in Braivada - and will be not remembered by Eurienne anymore - he left the letter with them, the letter to Ester from Braivada, asking her for help for them.
Ester solves Linnea's whole case after she reads Silorind's book of notes that he left for her (he wrote about the experimenting curse that he casted over anonymous man's children). When Amaralf brings Hjorson with him, they realize that the anonymous man that Silorind mentioned about is him - and Linnea is his daughter. Eurienne dies in her own prison and Ciris reunites with Linnea in Braivada. After some time, he meets Eb, who seems to remember something about Astrid, the less cursed one - and he suggests where Ciris should look for his second child, so eventually, thanks for Eb, Ciris finds his both daughters, and unofficially adopts Eb. Linnea never gets released from Silorind's curse, though - she must always stay with her family, or she'll be forgotten again. Since Silorind is now considered "dead", there's no way to turn it back.

Relations

Astrid - her younger sister; really cares about her, even though sometimes she can't understand her. She feels like she needs to always protect her.

Britta - the woman who "adopted" her; at first she finds her very nice and is thankful for her, even though she never shows it. Later Britta stops caring about her adoptive children and gets obsessed by ideas about destroying the Braivada village and Linnea no longer stays with her. Britta becomes a spy for Marten Himmel who wants to get rid of Braivada and she doesn't seem to feel any remorse when she loses all her adopted kids, as she becomes so devoted for her new tasks.

Eb - the boy who she met in Britta's house. Eb seems to be fascinated with her and associates her with a character from Ester's novel. He meets Linnea several times and it seems like he always is able to recognize something familiar in her. He promises that he won't forget about her and treats her as something very special (especially when he discovers that she's a halcylian, he calls her the witch). When Eb randomly meets Linnea again in Braivada in June '98, he is no longer that excited, as something had really changed in Eb himself. In this time, Eb is already a murderer. Ciris Hjorson decides to take him in and let him live with him, as a thanks for helping him with finding Astrid. Eb is glad that he found a new home, but he's no longer a cheerful boy with passion for fantasy.

Rikko - another boy who she met in Britta's house, a teenager that Linnea always admired. She was forgetting him everytime, but when they were meeting again, she was always peculiarly excited about him. Linnea has no particular reason to be that excited about him, especially that Rikko didn't seem to care about her much (hey, it was him who sent her sister to the orphanage!), yet she always cheers up when she sees him. Rikko, who used to avoid Braivada, is forced to stay in the village, when he gets infected with Arevalte's power. He will be the reason of Linnea's big sorrow in the close future.

Adam - Adam finds Linnea and takes her in for some time, until Alisa throws her out. Of course later he fogets about her, but he wanted the best for her.

Alva - after she gets into Froilands' house, she becomes her friend for some days. Alva doesn't treat her very bad, even though she's plays with her in a bit weird ways. They get separated and forget about each other, but after some time they will meet again.

Ester - (in the future) - older Linnea admires her a lot and silently follows together with her friends, usually is too shy to talk to her, she is an authority for her and wants to work with her.

Ciris - her father; a halcylian who used to work as a sailor. For a long time it remains a mystery who are Linnea's parents, but Ciris and her find each other in spring '98. It turns out that Ciris wanted to save her and Astrid from Linnea's mad mother. The girls - especially Linnea - were cursed by Silorind who offered help for Ciris with hiding them from Eurienne. Since that moment everyone started to forget about Linnea. Ciris never forgot about the fact he had children, but he completely didn't recall who they were and his only aim was to find them. It become possible thanks to Amaralf, who let him escape from Eurienne's prison and brought him to Braivada - and Ester, who knew about Silorind's experimental curse. Currently Ciris lives with Linnea, Astrid and Eb in Braivada... but the happy family life won't last forever.

Eurienne - her mother. Eurienne was a halcylian woman obsessed with her hatred towards... halcylians. She wanted to imprison Linnea along with her dad and sister - and kill them.

Other info

- On some pictures her hair is black, but actually it should be dark brown.
- She is most likely autistic.
- Astrid is actually her half-sister. They both had different mothers - Astrid's mom was a woman named Marlene Jorunn, who got killed by Eurienne herself. The fun fact is that Marlene was a sister of Nelvyn, who becomes a mother of Ronya Sterlinson from the youngest generation; as Astrid becomes a mother of Ancheal, it makes Ancheal and Ronya actually second cousins.
- She's called Lin by most of her friends, only Alva tends to call her Nea.
- She never takes off her hairclip, even as adult, it was given to her by someone important.
- Her mother had Halmaimean roots, probably some of her ancestors were born on the mythical Halmaime island.
- Adult Linnea appears in the LITL novel (non-direct sequel) and Variel knows her personally. Her role in the future is quite significant - she is Ester's deputy in Braivada, and most likely will become the new leader in the further future.
