Shine Karenza

In the city of Sparta, peculiar characters live in an uneasy peace. Humans and animal-hybrids co-exist together in this world of theirs, however, in Sparta, there always seems to be something destructive going on. Whether it be unexplainable explosions, or mysterious murders, Sparta is a town that is rife with crime that is seemingly without origin or purpose. But still, despite this chaos that runs rampant throughout the town, there are people who wish to do good. Masked heroes, super-groups, good samaritans, all of these people together work to clean up the streets, and make Sparta a safe (or at least, tolerable) place to call home.

Shine Karenza is one of these heroes...although she hates being called that. A misanthropic and bitter hedgehog, Shine is the last person you would ever expect to whisk unconscious children out of a burning building, or helping to rebuild homes that were destroyed in the last bombing run. Yet, there she is, a streak of white and black, racing to protect the people she claims to hate so much. Shine works alone, Shine works quickly, and most importantly Shine saved lives with her quick thinking and fast feet. She hates being called a hero though. Can't you, like, call her something that doesn't make her sound like a total dweeb?

Physical Description:

Shine is a small girl with an athletic build (although 100% of her strength is in her legs). She's a white hedgehog, born with black coloration that shows at the edges of her hair.

She has white hair that scoops downward in a spoon-like fashion. The ends are black. She has blue eyes, and the tips of her ears have extra fur; making them bushy at the ends.

After escaping from the clutches of her parents, the forest has been Shine's home. She lives among the trees, and makes a living off of heroic deeds she (reluctantly) does for the community of Sparta. Shine sleeps outside and her diet consists almost solely of apples, meaning she's ready for anything and fit enough to take on whatever chooses to hassle her. Shine's almost always willing to throw down, and she has the looks to match.

Due to mysterious circumstances, Shine has abnormal abilities that make her more powerful than the average Sparta native. She possess an inhuman speed, and if she wishes, she can break the sound barrier by running. Shine also has the unfortunate ability of self-detonation. If she's pushed to a point of extreme frustration, or anger, the energy builds inside her like an unstoppable pressure. Eventually, when there's too much for her body to bear, she pops, and a large explosion devastates the nearby area. Its difficult.

Personality:

In a city such as Sparta, there are interesting characters, that's for sure. Some are aliens, escaped from their home planet in search of normal lives. Some are experiments, on the run from their captors and attempting to lay low in their chaotic town of choice. Shine doesn't necessarily fit into these exact categories, but if there's one thing that defines her current situation, it's one word. Anger. She's terribly angry. At what? She won't say, but she's pissed at the world, and takes out her anger on those who dare to approach her. 

Hotheaded and quick to anger, Shine is easily annoyed and easily loses her patience with people. She has this inflated sense of ego about her, and thinks that anyone other than herself is beneath her. Talking to others wastes her time, listening to their problems makes her lame, and she has more things to do than become a stupid loser. She's abrasive and crass. Shine is not at all afraid to let you know what she thinks of you, and never minces her words. Has Shine ever said anything nice about someone ever? In her life? It's unlikely, considering how many mean words she spews out when threatened. 

Shine hates socializing with others, and goes out of her way to avoid people. For whatever the true reason is, Shine keeps her distance from others, and wants to live her life in relative obscurity. She's quick to act and jumps to conclusions often; she tends to do first and ask questions later. If she does happen to care about you, you'd have no way of knowing. She laces her softer feelings in mean barbs, and spews insults at those she cares about. That way, they never question, and never know how much she cares for them.

She hates appearing weak and emotional in front of others. Shine's whole philosophy is against letting people in, and letting people understand the "real" her. Her philosophy is that if she constantly pushes people away, she'll never be rejected. She actively puts people in situations where they can reject her, just to support this worldview of hers. Shine does her best for the people of Sparta out of obligation and guilt, but expects to be double-crossed and hurt by them at every turn. Because of this, she keeps her distance, and expects the worst to come of others. She trusts no one, and isolates herself so no one can be hurt (referring to both herself, and others).

Still, despite all her attempts to not be a hero, she is one. She's actively rude, insulting, and snide...but still she rescues people from the terrors of Sparta. Even she doesn't know exactly why she does what she does, but she know that if she has the ability to make a difference in the lives of others, maybe she should put in the effort. Plus, it keeps her busy, and gets her money. It's hard to make a living when you live out in the forests of Sparta, subsisting on apples and other fruits. Maybe one day, Shine will open herself up and allow others into her world. But until now? She pushes people away with reckless abandon.

Strengths & Weaknesses:

Shine's strengths stem from her super-human (or, well, hedgehog) abilities. If she wishes, Shine can go so fast she can break the sound barrier. When the going gets tough, she out-speeds her opponents, and can dish out goons in the blink of an eye. Although she's not the biggest fan of others, she does risk life and limb to save them, and can carry out rescue missions and other tasks that require fast feet and quick thinking. Shine also hates quitting. Although this is usually seen as a negative trait, Shine does tasks out of spite and this spite is indestructible if she's been pissed off beforehand.

Despite her blinding speed, Shine has some glaring weaknesses that can easily stop her in her tracks. Firstly, and most importantly, Shine can't swim. She never learned how, and thus she panics whenever placed in a large body of water. Her speed is pretty useless in water, but she'll drown quick if no one is around to help. Another weakness his her tendency to explode whenever pushed to the limits of her anger. Although her explosions are powerful, they don't care who is in the way. Shine's caused a lot of destruction with her anger...she's caused deaths as well. 

Bonus Facts:

- Shine is familiar with the crime-fighting group, the E.N.D, but she wants nothing to do with them. She hates the idea of being a part of a goody-two-shoes group like that. That and she just doesn't play well with others...

- With the exception of a really persistent owl, most forest animals can't stand her and avoid her.

- Shine, and a lot of the RP Group characters, stem from Sonic the Hedgehog fan-characters of the same name and personalities. "Shine the Hedgehog" used to be the long lost sister of Shadow the Hedgehog, who stayed with him on the Space Colony ARK. Times have changed since then.
