Artemes "Argo" Goteye

In the city of Sparta, peculiar characters live in an uneasy peace. Humans and animal-hybrids co-exist together in this world of theirs, however, in Sparta, there always seems to be something destructive going on. Whether it be unexplainable explosions, or mysterious murders, Sparta is a town that is rife with crime that is seemingly without origin or purpose. But still, despite this chaos that runs rampant throughout the town, there are people who wish to do good. Masked heroes, super-groups, good samaritans, all of these people together work to clean up the streets, and make Sparta a safe (or at least, tolerable) place to call home.

At the water's edge of Sparta, waiting ships are docked by their captains. Workers hurriedly unload their loot with trained efficiency, hoping to get their wares into town by the end of the day at latest. Along with them, however, unfortunate types share the seas. Some ships come to the dock damaged, or with missing loot. One pirate is to blame, and although he hides behind the shadow of his captain, all who know him know him to be the real brains behind the operations. Argo Goteye. A fearsome pirate with a penchant for torture and adrenaline...

Physical Description:

Artemes, or "Argo" as he is commonly referred to as, is a tall man with a skinny figure (although he is relatively toned due to the labors of pirate life). He is a black bat, and he has a variety of piercings placed all over his body.

He has long black hair that reaches a little past his shoulders, and grayish-blue eyes. His large black ears improve his hearing by a lot, and his dark wings are large and allow him to fly.

Since he was a teenager, Argo has been a man of the sea. The only (known) son of the fearsome pirate captain, Captain Chordata, Argo follows in his footstep with undying loyalty. Although he was born fragile and weak, Argo has made a name for himself as a pirate lieutenant--carrying out the orders of the captain with frightening, sadistic enjoyment. He's a crack shot, a fast and agile bat, and he enjoys cracking jokes just as much as he enjoys making victims squirm.

Despite his bluster, Argo has always been exceedingly weak. The clinical term is "Osteogenesis imperfecta," but Argo often refers to his condition as "glass bones." Due to his disease, Argo cannot take hard hits. He has had to adapt his speed and evasiveness to survive harsh life on the high-seas. But, if someone does manage to land a hit? It hurts, it hurts quite a bit.

Personality:

You wouldn't think that Sparta would have pirate troubles...but in the city that has everything, everything is possible. Although they don't bother the city directly, modern pirates float around the city in the gulfs/seas that span outward from Sparta. Argo has been one with the sea for years, abandoning a "comfy" life to become a subject of tutelage for his previously-missing father. Time has changed since the first day Argo stepped on a ship, and now he's one of the most fearsome names out there.

Jovial and aloof, Argo acts as if someone is constantly telling him jokes. He snickers and smirks a lot, and likes to mess around and prank others on the ship. He enjoys watching struggles from a distance, and playing second fiddle, but there are times where he is antsy and itching for action. Whether he scratches this it through torture or combat, he gets it out of his system sooner or later. It's all the same to him; it gives him a rush to mess with people.

Argo is a nihilist by nature, believing in the fact that nothing in life matters, so you may as well live for the moment at hand. With these thoughts, he goes through life as an adrenaline junkie, constantly doing what he wants because...it's what he wants. All in all, he does wild things in search of self-enjoyment. He's fascinated (morbidly so) with life and death, and is obsessed with how people react in their final moments. Do they cry for mercy? Or do they let the end come to them? And are those reactions hypocritical as to how they acted while living?

If there's anything Argo doesn't like, its getting serious. It's all fun and games on the high-sea, but when the going gets tough, even he has to shed his smiles. When Argo becomes focused, it's as if he becomes someone else entirely. It becomes easier to see how worn and tired he is, but those serious moments are just glimpses into his psyche. Eventually time passes, and he returns to his old candor.

Why waste time being dower when there's so much fun to be had! The seas outside Sparta have always been lucrative for Argo and his crew, and recently the loot has become more and more bountiful. Though it always seems to for him. Argo sails with his group and searches for adventure, hoping to be excited by the prospects of another day. 

Strengths & Weaknesses:

Argo is a bloodthirsty pirate who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty with a smile. He's a crack-shot, and has a quick draw speed with his trusty pistol. He has a dagger and light sword for close-quarters combat, but he doesn't use them much, as Argo doesn't do so well with CQC. Argo is also very swift and agile. He's the second-fastest of the RP Group, behind Shine, who has super-speed. He had to learn how to be fast!

Argo's biggest weakness is his disease. Due to his glass bones, Argo can't afford to take too many hits, as strong blows will break his bones. His wings have a tendency to break easier than the rest of his body, and he has to take extra precautions to make sure they heal back normally.

 Bonus Facts:

- Against all odds, Argo actually has a lot of musical talent. He's a wonderful piano player, and often plays in bars to get extra money. He has a good voice as well. 

- Although he grew up in an island country outside of Sparta, he's familiar with one of its kindly, medical residents. VERY familiar...

- Argo does not have origins as a Sonic the Hedgehog fan-character. He's inspired by a character from an animation I enjoyed as a teenager.
