Jack Spade (Modern!AU)

In this AU, very few changes have been made to his backstory. 

He serves as a Detective for the city police. He's not the lead detective, but he's pretty far up on the hierarchy. He prefers to handle cases that aren't immediately supernatural because his blood is considered a precious commodity for many supernatural creatures. Still, he gets wrangled onto the investigation that involves Sullivan.
He's rather independent, but also never talks about his home life. He deeply resents his mom not being present for most of his life, and his father died when he was 2, so he's got parental issues. While he should probably go to therapy, the police force is so lacking in people and so overwhelmed with all the crime that he puts off his own wellbeing to work through the constant new cases.

He doesn’t go out much, but he drinks alone in his apartment a lot more than he should. Smokes a lot, too.
