Came across a super light pink, super "minimalist" custom CSS profile the other day that most of the menu/buttons missing :/ Like, you couldn't subscribe to this person, block them, navigate their page... is this even allowed?
My own pet peeves when it comes to viewing people's toyhou.se profiles is when people use an image in the thumbnail and then not include it in the gallery.
It's annoying because sometimes the image in the thumbnail is a really good picture or even reference worthy and I just can't see it because it's not a viewable image. I have always made a big point in my profile design to include the character's thumbnail in my gallery or just dont have a thumbnail at all.
What are some things that peeve you off when viewing profiles?
(remember not to just target certain people! this is just a thread for getting things off your chest and maybe even helping others create more legible profiles!)

Vaughn Some people think anthros are humanoid because they have human bodies but animal heads. Personally I agree that they aren't humanoid but I've had people personally tell me otherwise.
For me, something is only humanoid if the head and torso are human in silhouette while the arms and legs can be anything else, including a tail. That's why I include mermaids in humanoid folders.
Poor folder organization turns me away from a lot of accounts. When there are four layers of folder to go through to find your characters, I lose interest drive to look at them. In addition, the organization of the characters themselves, like... I like to see related characters together. Here's all my ocs for this story, all my anthros, all my fantrolls... etc. When it's set up like Sonas, Mains, Primary, Secondary, Tertiary, Tentative, UFS/UFT (and then those folders likely have folders within them...) It's a headache to look through, and I hate sorting by "view all."
Also, sub-sub folders that aren't in flattened view, for the same reason. Pain to click through back and forth.
I know everyone and their cousin has commented on the aggressive + unnecessary warnings ("IF YOU STEAL MY OC SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR LIFE") but like... I'm so desensitized to the warning page at this point, I think if I encountered a character with actual content that needs to be warned for, I would just click through without noticing... I worry about that on a couple of my own characters--I have one OC with a picture of a spider on her page, another that mentions assault--so I try to keep my warnings short and sweet and to the point, but I know some folks won't read them at all.
Agree on the "character thumbnail image not included in gallery" point. Hate it. Especially when it looks like a really neat piece of art that I want to see, maybe I want to know who the artist is... :/
ETA: Ok last one... pictures of IRL people as "faceclaims" for characters. Yikes!
When somebody puts an entire TOS as their profile warning. Please I'm just trying to look at your pink dog
People who put a fullbody as their character or profile icon. I can't see anything because it's so small and th even lets you crop it right there. what is the point.

I try to do that on all of mine even though I make my own thumbnails so I can try to give people a good look at the character's entire design. It gives people the chance to scroll through my folders and see the character's designs so that they don't have to click every single character to find one they like. It might help people looking to draw a character so they don't have to click on every one of my 500 characters!
When I get an adopt I immediately change the thumbnail to their fullbody, actually!
ShadowDarespark I guess that makes sense from that perspective, although personally I think it looks more aesthetically pleasing with just headshot thumbnails lol

-ANY EYESTRAIN LAYOUTS. dude. talk about inaccessible. its like some people forget that their flashy, eyestrain neon layouts which are not only a pain to look at, can also give people like me migraines or even seizures. dont say ur entire page is up for offers and then make ur profile impossible to navigate. seriously.
-long ass tos on their page. dude, im only checking ur profile bc u were selling something. im not reading through any of that anyways. if i could permanently disable the feature where people put 'warnings' on their profile which are actually just an essay as to why you shouldnt steal their ocs, i would.
-any extremely bulky or flashy HTML or CSS code, especially on character profiles. if im checking ur character profile, its to buy them or bc you commissioned me to draw them. please, just please, dont pick the largest possible code. i just want to scroll down to ur ocs reference. please dude
-super mega complicated HTML or CSS code. im running on a broken computer and my phone, here. ive had my laptop crash bc of some of yalls codes by just going to ur pages. lord have mercy on my harddrive.
-when ppl have like 100 different folders on their front page so it takes forever to scroll through them all, especially when theyre like "go to my profile and all of x folder is up for sale!!" bro i cannot even find that folder i am begging you to organize things better...
-when somebodys character avatar is clearly nsfw/fetish. goes for their profile icon too. like , is this even allowed? im sure the thousands of minors on this site dont want to see that stuff bro, keep it to yourself please
i could probably go on but like,,, you know lmao. most of my issues with profiles r just accessibility bc i dont want to get a migraine by looking at the sparkly rainbow dog drawing that ur selling . please make ur profiles accessible for the love of god . please ;-;
- Content warnings that are literally just "please don't steal any of my characters" I mean, it should be common knowledge that you shouldn't steal people's characters. What's the need for a content warning telling people not to do so? Also it sorta annoys me a little when I see "do not colorpick" in a content warning. Sure, stealing characters is wrong but colorpicking? You don't own a six digit number. Often I don't even read the content warning before clicking that I've read it because literally most of them are like this.
- When the images on characters are super zoomed in on the preview. I'd understand it if it was art of multiple characters and it was zoomed in to show which one the profile was for but.. I've seen it on images that are only of that character and also ones where it's literally zoomed all the way in on something random like the character's face or something they're holding. Like idk I guess I just like being able to see the full image without having to click on it and it's kinda mildly annoying lol.
- Text that you literally cannot read. Like when it's the exact same color as the container it's in. Why?? I have to like highlight the entire thing to read it and it's just aaa
I have come back with a new complaint and it's not just on profiles and characters but on forums too!
When there's a whole bunch of text but only two sentences are in English and the rest is in a language that Google translate has forsaken. And it's clearly not the same information you're given in English. It looks like totally different stuff but for some reason they decided to put a few words in english when 99% is another language and the English portion doesn't really elaborate, it's just randomly in the middle of another language.
I swear this is real, I'm not making it up. Someone please explain. It's ok not to use English! Use any language you want! But please why do you sprinkle English throughout like aaahhhh- I can't read it but now I am so curious qwq
Yeah that’s also a pet peeve I got, I’m currently trying to ameliorate my style by referencing certain things in other people’s styles that interest me, so that’s a big pet peeve of mine. I do got a few others tho (sorry if it’s a bit long)
- Profiles with a white background and light grey/yellow text. I’m already semi dyslexic and need glasses to read so when I see that shit I just leave , even if the character is interesting. I’m not wasting my time trying to read barely visible text. Same goes with tiny text as well.
- profiles with a million different folders. I’ve had to deal with profiles which have like 20-30 different folders/subfolders, but in their toyhouse, they only have like 3 characters that are scattered in some of the folders and sub folders. its a nightmare.
- WHEN PEOPLE PUT MASSIVE (sometimes not even lowered opacity) WATERMARKS THAT BLOCKS THE OC. This is the thing that irritates me the most, especially when I need to draw those specific characters and even the damn character reference is filled to the brim with watermarks that blocks or changes the characters colors. When that happens, I either just color pick whatever and color with what I’m working with, or I just refuse to draw that character. I’ve dealt with this so much, I understand you want to protect your art but how am I suppose to draw your character when your gigantic watermark is hiding/tampering with the oc
- when people put nsfw drawings as a character/user icon. Like I don’t mind if the image is cropped where the nsfw bits aren’t shown n all, but when you literally put either the full drawing or a close up of the nsfw as an icon, that draws the line. Especially to people who are under 18+ (like me). I dont wanna, and I legally can’t see that shit. I wish the toyhouse moderators banned or punished those people, because they're literally showing nsfw to potential minors.
(I am 100% guilty of this in the past) but when people get a new custom layout and slap it on their chara profiles but then they don't change any of the place-holder stuff, so like all the images scattered through the profile are of the code-creator's OC, and all the info says stuff like "You can use this box for this, if you type more than the box it will scroll"
Does that make sense?
Basically just people that apply a new profile code to their profile, but then don't change the default stuff to their character's info
