are you happy with your artstyle?

just a general question.

was thinking of my own artstyle, and how its very 'cutesy'. (examples in spoiler) i do like my style, i think its cute. the problem arises with that,,,, its never how i imagined my style would end up. you see, ive always admired 'gross-out' styles. lumpy, unappealing to a wide audience, kind of just fucked up looking. i feel conflicted about my art style, because while i like it as A style, its not what i really want for my style. i have fun drawing, i like it visually, but part of me wishes that i hadnt ended up drawing this way. i could start to change my art style, i could practice, but i just dont have the free time to do that anymore. i love to draw monsters, creepy, unnerving things, and thats hard when my style lends itself to cute chibi fluffy things. its not that big of a deal, but i wanted to know how others feel about their own art style. are you happy with it? has your style had any dramatic shifts? do you have any alternate styles?

I've always really liked my style! It's not really unique, but I don't think it's too generic? I know it's very anime, but I really like those type of styles!! Especially since I've recently been trying to differ my characters more through their eyes, and I think that's going well ~ It's also weird since my style is so clean?? like I have an inability to do true sketches? I just draw very cleanly naturally,,, which is why I've stopped doing actually lineart at all in the first place--
I feel I've improved a lot recently? Which is odd, since I don't draw as often as I'd like too,,, The one thing I'm not too keen on is how I color. I mean,, I like it for the most part, it's just not detailed enough?? I really like the gradient style I've developed, but it's just lacking, I guess?? Like, especially when It comes to hair, but I don't draw hair detailed enough to make any other shading style I've tried look right?
Also, if possible, I do want to draw more girls,,, I just don't have a lot of female OCs (tho I do have at least 3 that need proper designs,,). I draw a whole lot of androgynous/pretty boys, which I've, of course, gotten pretty good at!
Overall, I'm very happy with my art, and really always have been ~ There have been a few times where things just didn't feel right, but I guess I've been lucky to not have such a bad relationship with my art? I'm also excited to see where my style goes in the future, too!!
also don't even start me on my old art, especially my first digital pieces,,, why did I think those were any good at all,,,,

I both like my style and hate it. Visually? Good shit. Love it. Love the thick lines. Love the pixels. Decent shading. Would love to see my artstyle from another artist.

Me, personally? I hate it, absolutely despise it. Wanna be soft lines, lovely colors, emotions, etc. Unfortunately younger Lech went hard into the adoptable scene and see how we suffer for it.

We'll branch out after a while, maybe one day.

I don't have an art style at all, I just ~really~ can't be bothered with drawing, which I think is quite obvious, but it somehow works out pretty well to be honest
I've even had people compliment my non-existent art style, which is nice but something about it also feels a bit off

i don't hate my style per se, but i feel like i've lost a lot of the things i like about it over the years to keep my stuff "marketable" if that makes sense lol... while i feel like my overall anatomy, composition, etc has improved, i lost a lot of the vibrancy and texture?? along the way

like for example, here's a few pieces of my older art that i really enjoyed: one two (blood, nsfw?) three

and compared to some of my newer ones: one two three

that just feel a lot more stiff and lifeless, if that makes sense? i know people generally value very clean, polished, and Staying Within The Lines kinda look which ive ended up trying to cater to over time. i also feel like my arts become a lot cuter/softer which is good sometimes! but i also want to lean back towards the semi realism

embernettles

yes !!!!!! i used to not like it bc it was so cartoony/cutesy , but i’ve been improving a lot more recently and i’m starting to like it a lot better! i’m having a lot more fun drawing lately

fettuwuccine

yeah there's always ways to improve but I'm happy with where I am now

ticklerust

I am very happy with what I can do now, but I'd like to be a little more refined as time goes on :)  I am super loose and sketchy which isn't exactly what I always want to achieve.

What art style lmao

My aesthetic sense is all over the place which is also the reason I tend to shift my styles and techniques a bit depending on what I want to draw. I think my style is still consistently "mine" across the board no matter what I draw and it's easy to see connections with my sense of what I think looks nice, but I'm not too fixed on using just one thing - especially if it doesn't serve me well enough for my vision. My pixel art doesn't look the same as my chibi art does, and those two don't match 1:1 to my lineless pieces or my full illustrations. I'm generally satisfied with my style(s) but I always just want to expand my versatility and learn other ways to draw the same things lol.

I'm predominantly a humanoid artist but I feel like these two pieces featuring wolf characters really show I'm just doing whatever fits the mood style and overall look wise lmao.

I'm very happy with my style at the moment. I do sometimes wish I had continued to go in the horror direction, but I do love my colors. I think they are appealing when I use them correctly. Pixel art makes me very happy as well, and I am happy I finally picked it up some months ago as I've been wanting to for a long time. If I ever do get uncomfortable with it, I will simply experiment some more :-) It is okay

I think I'm super happy with how my art style is going so far! I've been drawing more and more, and it's becoming super cute! People always told me it was a unique style that they couldn't put their finger on if it's "anime" or "cartoon". Either way, I'm enjoying it becoming more cute! Even if I do enjoy the occasional monster and disturbing skull!
