Alien invasion
This was a conversation my friends and I were having earlier about our characters: everyone has certain character archetypes they're a sucker for-- or maybe ones that they can't help but keep making. What's your poison?
You can interpret this generally: maybe archetypes like "jerks with a heart of gold", personality traits like "smug", storylines like "friends who fall in love", whatever types of characters you love to see or create!
My characters:
a) idiots but they try
b) feelings are hard let's never talk about them
c) conflict resolution is hard let's never talk about it
My own characters tend to fit in the following statements:
- Pilots of mechs or living dragon/spaceship hybrids
- Animal mecha
- Either a high speed tolerance or the ability to run or fly super fast
- Has a full face helmet
- Wears a futuristic-looking spacesuit or racing suit
- Usually pretty intelligent within at least one or two fields of their specialty
- Is good with riding a motorcycle or similar vehicle
smart himbo who just doesnt use his intelligence
pathetic twink man with supernatural problems
emo boy
- Tragic pasts
- Emphasis on family dynamics
- Dark/gritty backstories
- Realistic settings
- fondness or talent for music
- Goth
- Tattoos
Oh I have so many reoccurring ones
-evil and stupid (but also hot )
-plotting and scheming always
-"if I can't have you no one can"/yandere
-creepy and cute
-multiple eyes/limbs
-ghosts
-"looks like a cinnamon roll, will kill you"
-they have the intelligence level of an ice cube
mine would be
- characters that love to tease/annoy others
- characters that wanna look cool
- cyber parts or some other form of transhumanism
- mostly black clothes with one or two pieces of another color
Doctors/scientists
Non-humans (mostly robots and aliens)
characters that are consumed by their obsession
performers
Scientifically accurate dinosaurs/ speculative designs (feathers, crests, soft tissue, unknown parts)
Spec evo designs that are well thought out also get me-
a bunch!
- people stuggling with new bodies or otherwise physical traits, often with fantasy dysphoria and learning how to embrace whatever theyre forced to live with. "is this a metaphor for being trans" of course it is
- sad street level superheroes with non combat based powers and goals. these tend to also be middle aged men.
- neurodivergent usually femme agender kids who grew up in labs
- eternally dedicated, extremely loyal, and completely morally grey
- love me some regretful military guys
- outgoing morally grey gals healing from past trauma (don't have any ocs ocs like this at the moment so none on th but au canons are many)
Hmmm probably,,,
- Apocalypses
- Can definitely kill you (and probably will)
- Looks cute but is either traumatized and/or dangerous
- A shit ton of violence
- Horror!!
- Would probably live in a Hot Topic
