What role would the above OC play in a video game?

Just as the title says, this is a game where you take a look at the oc above your post and come up with the role they might play in a video game!

Here are a few things to remember while you're playing:

  • I shouldn't have to say this more than once, but please be respectful of one another.
  • Put some effort into what you're going to say. I'm sure that the other person will appreciate it!
  • If you're going to write something rather long, you may want to claim the post above you, just in case.
  • You can post once for every other three posts. If the thread hasn't moved in 24 hours, you may post before this.
  • NEW ** As of February 27th, please be sure to write more than one sentence. We want to see your imagination run!
  • NEW ** Also as of February 27th, make sure to give the character's profile a read - it helps in forming your assumption of their role! It also shows that you've thought about your answer, and everyone appreciates it. If there isn't anything to their profile and they merely have visuals, disregard this. :)

But how do I play?

  • Though this game might seem somewhat difficult, it's actually quite the opposite! 
  • All you have to do is look at the above oc and come up with their role in a video game.
  • Here are some questions you might want to ask yourself if you're stumped: "Are they a protagonist, antagonist, NPC, boss, party member, etc? What genre of video game might they belong in? Do they have any particular movesets? Do they serve a special purpose? Do they do something special in-game?"

Here's an example:

  • Person 1: What kind of video game character would characterA be?
  • Person 2: They look really buff and strong-willed, so they might be the protagonist! I could see them in some fantasy setting, like a noble knight trying to save a princess or something? They look like they could carry around really heavy weapons, and can pack a punch, so I'd say they're the heavy-hitter of the team.

 

Jung spacecadet

Definitely a baddie, probably not the main antagonist, but their henchwoman, and Vempyremon refuses to believe it, stating that she's the top rung of the ladder. She would go out of her way to make your game tough, like stopping you from reaching your goal right before you do, only to launch you into another battle with her. She's very vain however, and if you inflate her ego enough, she'd give you little tips in the forms of riddles.

Lewis would be a shop owner that a player encounters within the first 15 minutes of playing a story-driven game. The player would be guided toward the realization that to progress further in the game, they will require a few items that they can only purchase from Lewis. He's happy to sell to them, but will grow nervous that the player may not fully understand how to use these items and emphasize during the sale that they can always come back and ask him for pointers if they find they falter in the items' use. 

Time goes by and once or twice the player returns to Lewis and he gives them a couple of lessons on using the items. It turns out, he's gotten some new stuff in stock by then that the player also needs, but can't afford yet. Player goes away, earns money, returns and buys the new, even more useful items from Lewis. This cycle repeats a few times and at this point Lewis begins to feel as though his items play such a large role in the player's quest that he has a responsibility to help ensure their success. After awhile, the player finishes a task and turns around to find Lewis standing there. "I was thinking about (insert task requiring his items) and figured you'd need this, too. Not to worry, it's on the house." 

Next thing you know, the player's adversary (boss, hostile NPC group, etc) is seeing Lewis occasionally on the sidelines, unbeknownst to the player, and figures he's the player's accomplice or teammate. Lewis finds his store under attack, subtly at first - an NPC drops a lit cigarette in a trashcan inside the store, but Lewis is quick to extinguish the fire. More dramatic things happen. Player enters the store and finds Lewis replacing a broken window. "Oh, it was just someone who fell into it." he says, not wanting to make a fuss, but the player can tell something is wrong. 

Lewis doesn't realize the scope of what he's gotten into, and the game slowly turns into a quest to eliminate the same characters who already needed to be dealt with, but now it's personal. It's no longer about the quest - it's because they're messing with Lewis, and that makes it personal.

At some point the player realizes that this NPC they thought was insignificant at first is the central NPC of the game.

All the while, Lewis's business drops off, as hostile NPCs are successful in scaring away his other customers. Eventually the player the only customer left, and his store is in disrepair from nighttime vandalism or blatant acts of hostility during the day. In a moment of sullen realization, he decides it's time to close his store. Not because he messed with the wrong people, but in his mind, because he failed in his "contract" to provide goods to a town of people he swears would have been loyal to him had he not failed them in some unknown way. He blames himself, and gives the player his last remaining item in stock. It just came in, and would have been a good way to draw in customers, but he's lost faith in his ability to run a store. 

This item turns out to be the best tool for the job of dealing with those who have messed up Lewis's prized business, and the player goes on a long quest to use the item and complete the game. After the end credits are done, the player is free to explore the now open world. They go back to the store, looking for Lewis, to give him the good news that he can reopen. But he's nowhere to be found. The player finds a note, or is told by a neutral NPC, that Lewis has left to start over in some other town.

Jun is, without a shadow of a doubt, a witness and/or witness in a Phoenix Wright style investigation game. Clearly, he's guilty of something, but didn't actually commit the murder being investigated at the time, and therefore is merely a suspect rather than the ultimate murderer. This provides some difficulty for the you, the investigating lawyer/detective. Jun doesn't want to be particularly cooperative, since he's the leader of a crime organization, but he has to be helpful enough that he can aid in clearing his name (and getting the police out of his business.) When interacting with Jun, you always have the sense he is telling you a minimum of five (5) lies at all times, and you also aren't certain whether or not he's telling these lies literally just to prank you. You also get the vague sense if you poke too deeply into his affairs, you might end up floating in the river.

Jet Static South-Sinner

I think you'd keep on seeing him around a ghost town.
You're there to solve some kind of mystery, he's there (so he says) to record some paranormal activity.
He might be someone you can buy items from which deal with the paranormal and maybe health packs and batteries.
I think he might also have useful clues which he'd say now and again like "did you hear that scream coming from the church?" which would indicate you should go and check it out.
He might also offer you a job now and again which if you're successful he'll reward you with an item which will help you through the rest of the game.

I also think there'd be some kind of plot twist involving him at the end :D


(Edit to below: feel like you nailed him with the poor advice XD it's actually just like him to come up with outlandish ideas)

Mercury spacecadet

One of the characters that helps you along the way in some sort of RPG, almost like a p2 but an NPC (Think Oswald from Epic Mickey 2, but one 1 player mode) A little goofy/hyper, but overall useful abilities- although I feel like his attacks would be kind of hard to aim right? He wouldn't be the greatest at giving you advice or tips on how to get through the game, but he would be an essential part to getting through the game.

Pumpkin Franks Mochagatari

I feel like Mercury would make a good game protagonist or deutagonist! Like maybe the game could be about Mercury or someone helping him free his crew members from the world of TV. But he could also be a sort of sidequest character? Like you could find him and hear his story and have an extra quest to find his mates. Something like that!

Raina Aneira Alexis SnowyCheetah

Pumpkin could be an NPC in a humor-filled horror game. The player has a quest to escape a haunted mansion which seems to block them in at every turn. Pumpkin turns up out of nowhere, realizing the player's predicament. She really wants to help them get out, but she can't resist pranking them almost nonstop. She helps sometimes, and fools you others, and there's no way to know which she's doing, but you can't reach your goal without her.

Kain Blackeis Vempyremon

Judging by the abilities an the fancy clothing, Raina would absolutely be the spell caster. The wise party member that is recruitable at early, or mid game in the midst of the forest. She would have to be convinced to leave the woodland area through a series of dialogue choices. She is a healer of sorts, with immensely powerful supporting abilities. The best one you'd fine in the game with a variety of skillsets that would be useful to any party member.

I love the computer virus deal w/ kain!! I can definitely see him being the kind of character in a game (perhaps a thriller, not exactly horror but atmospherically offputting) that messes with your computer! Like sometimes instead of calling you by the character's name he slips up and calls you by the name on your computer?? He doesn't seem like a villain type, but his main goal would be to be your guide and help you out.. sometimes. Maybe.

As dangerous as he seems, he wouldn't be too dangerous. It'd be a lighthearted RPG, something along the lines of Mario RPG or Earthbound, and he'd be an early boss, but you'd also see him later in the game and get help from him.

Vector SnowyCheetah

Smiley would be the antagonist in a game where you're trapped in a mansion with him. You have to survive the night and to do so, you have to keep him from getting ahold of things he could kill you with. If he gets ahold of something you have to get it from him before he can beat you with it.

Grandfather Milkman

I would say a companion (anthro)/support character or a pet (Feral) in a video game for the main character/protagonist. Probably in like a open-world system game. I don't know why, but I could also see Vector as a guy that would introduce you to the game and then go through the tutorial with you.
