"Well, drinks are always good!" Fukagawa smiled, ordering two for the pair, just him and Gabriel. Nothing alcoholic, but just something nice. After meeting the man, Fukagawa couldn't say he knew anything about the ginger, at least not from a first glance. Besides the fact he was a waiter, Fukagawa's date was a mystery.
Very intriguing, curious even. And as Fukagawa was, he wanted to know his story. After all what else was there to do? To add to that, based on Gabriel's quiet demeanour, he would be a good listener, and Fukagawa loved to tell stories. So he expected the night to be rather pleasant.
He leaned back in his chair after the drinks finally arrived. For once it was a fancy restaurant, Fukagawa's treat. And in such circumstances, Fukagawa had changed his appearance to resemble a regular man. He kept some aspects, of course, like his pizazz, with his hair cut short, and his outfit that of a rather nice suit. Red and orange, shiny, and accented richly.
"So what's it like living in a city full of... people? I'm usually travelling, never in one place for too long. Sometimes I miss the idea of being grounded, getting to know others. But of course, I've always been isolated." He took a sip from his glass. "I'm glad to see people doing so well, less danger in these parts. How do you find it?"
He observed his date as Gabriel talked, he seemed a bit on edge, nervous maybe. But he was honest, at least Fukagawa thought he was, and he enjoyed the man's company and conversation. It was a nice change compared to the people he was used to. Almost relaxing.
Aww
Fukagawa beamed, the date was wonderful, and he got to see the city at last, with no dire reason to visit. As time went on, he got more and more confident being alongside En. He wasn't as frazzled as before, and his nervousness subsided. It seemed he had finally come to the realization that this was reality and not just some fantasy his mind had made. He enjoyed exploring and touring with En and found a few surprises along the way. Like with En's somewhat odd love for onions, of all things.
The king's comments warmed his heart, even though he felt as if there was some greater story behind it all. But all his questions and thoughts on that matter dispersed fast, right around when En told Fukagawa of the tournament.
Fukagawa could say he was more than thrilled. "I would love to compete!" He smiled broadly, put his hands together and bobbed his head. "Especially in friendly combat, where no one's life is at stake... Uh- and, don't worry about me getting stage fright as well, En. I love attention, though you've probably gathered that by now." He finished with a wink.
The O'tsin rolled his shoulders back and cracked his knuckles with another playful grin, there was something of growing a fire behind his eyes as well. "But the thing that excites me the most is fighting you. I love competition, but I love winning more... Losing just isn't my style. So, in advance, I wish you luck, because this time you won't win against me."
He paused for a second, choosing his next words carefully, "But of course, spending more time with you is equally as important and fun." He decided to add, rather hastily, fearing his last comment was a little too aggressive for a date.
