(quick reply-thingy just because. xD)
I'm glad he is relatable. xDD But yes, I also feel that.
And I'm relieved that I got things right, I tried to go off his bio and the notes for campaings. :)
The stories do sound epic though, made up or not. :D Lior can take most things, as long as you don't expect him to have similar stories, although he might get a bit awkward with some things, depending on how they're told. If he just needs to listen he is fine most of the time.
He really doesn't like talking about himself, so he would probably try to evade the question or to answer as vaguely as possible. He is not really a good liar so at least that is not an option for him. Like, he would tell where he comes from but not talk about status, he would also talk about his "older brother" but not his name etc. with time he has kind of found a way to maneuver around most questions. :D
(here goes nothing :"D)
(also Cliodna since you posted with the Donohue tab I'm going to reply to that persona! :) aaand sorry it's not as long. ;v;)
Lior was hiding in the corner of a bar, as usual. Luckily his favored place on a bench in the corner was free and gave him a sense of security, although his leg was still bouncing like it was running a marathon on its own. But how could it not? He did not particularly enjoy meeting strangers this formally, in a setting that might even be misinterpreted as a date even though it was supposed to be just a casual talk about the sorcerer's adventures that might be turned into stories. Maybe hiding was not the best idea when waiting for someone but maybeee Donohue just wouldn't see him and leave again, that sounded like a great idea right now! Just. what were the chances?
His train of thought ran into a wall when he heard someone mentioning his name a bit too close for comfort - which to Lior was even at a "safe" distance of one meter - so he was not really a good judge for stuff like that. "H-hi." he stammered, trying his best to smile. Right now there were around 100 places running through his head where he would have rather been but oh well. Now he was here and he would do this! He would... manage. Somehow.
The elf took a deep breath, composing himself before attempting some sort of smalltalk, how successful that was? Well, Donohue would be the judge of that. "I hope you had no issues getting here? It is a bit... uhm... hidden but I figured it would make more sense to be in a place a little more quiet to actually talk uhm..." he looked around the tavern that was still filled with a lot of people, it just was not as big as the more popular places so the chances of a fight breaking out or people yelling were a little slimmer. Hopefully. He hated yelling, it hurt his ears. Anyway, back to the sorcerer!
"As I- uhm... already mentioned, I would really like to learn more about your travels!" Lior finally came to the point before he would lose himself in more awkward stammering. "Just... anything is fine, really. I just travel and tell stories, so..." he took a sip of his mead in hopes it would help calm him down. (It did not.) "Oh yes, and of course, you can order what you like, consider it an exchange?" the elf suggested. It was the best thing he could come up with. His anxiety would not let him eat anyway, so he did not even try, but maybe Donohue was hungry.
Lior would just wait and listen to whatever the man would tell him. Lucky for him he seemed to have no issues talking about himself, so that was good! In this case, at least. Although it did sound like he was making some things up on the spot the elf appreciated him telling all these stories nonetheless. After all, most good stories had some aspects of fiction to them anyway... of course the degree varied but still.
When it seemed like Donohue was out of things to talk about Lior gave another friendly smile, maybe a bit more relaxed than his first one. Listening to other people talk and focus on that always help. "Thank you, truly. It was nice listening to your stories, they did really help me." Now he was fidgeting again. "Well. Uhm. A-anyway, I think I should get going... I still have some road ahead of me." he gave an awkward chuckle. "It was nice meeting you, maybe we will see each other again at some point." it was not a question for a further 'date', just a reasonable assumption considering they were both constantly traveling. "I- uhm... I am going to pay and leave now, have a good night!" he felt like he solved that situation somewhat okay-ish, but maybe he was just trying to soothe himself. At least he fulfilled his promise paying for Donohue's food and drinks before he left, once again appreciating the cold night air that greeted him as soon as he stepped outside. Note to self: never attempt this again!
(That was so sweet OMG. ;v;)
„O-of course.“ Lior stammered, not even remotely as casual as En. Why wouldn't he make it? It was not like he had anywhere else to be... at least at the moment. No birthdays or other awkward social gatherings he had to attend in order to be allowed to continue leading his life the way he wanted. Okay, that sounded a bit worse than intended. Good thing he didn't say that out loud!
It was nice seeing En in a good mood, considering the last time they met he had just woken up from a nightmare... or the fact that he usually seemed to be a little melancholic even though he tried to mask it – and was fairly good at it. If he had not witnessed different moods of the king by now Lior was pretty sure he would not have been able to tell.
Thinking about this also put the elf in a better mood, as he was happy when other people were... and it distracted him from the question at hand. He had no clue if this was a date or a casual dinner and he was not sure if he wanted to find out because he didn't know what would have been better. Was there even a 'better' option? Lior just didn't want to make any... assumptions that made things weird and more awkward than he usually made them anyway.
Now, the elf would not even dream of comparing En and his brother, not only because he disliked comparing people in general but also because he did not really care what anyone else might have done? However, admitting that he only cared what En would do anyway sounded kind of bad, so he decided to just ignore that thought.
Luckily the king spoke again, so Lior was able to focus on something else. “N-not at all...” he mumbled, not sure if an answer was even expected. Recognizing parts of the way reminded him that he had been here a bit too often, probably. Not that he minded being here. In fact, maybe he was a little too comfortable around En, while being nervous at the same time, a different kind of nervous than usual- uhm. Another thing not to think about!
His thought process came to a halt when they reached the glass doors and he saw the table in the courtyard. Now it was a bit more difficult to ignore the initial question, wasn't it?
For a second his brain just stopped working though, allowing him to just take in the scenery and be excited about it, because it was simply beautiful! As many words as he could use to describe things, that was really the only one he needed. Beautiful. It was beautiful. When his ability to think fully returned he realized he probably looked like an idiot right now and his face turning darker really didn't help. Maybe it was dark enough so it wasn't too visible? (no.) But just- he just didn't know what to say because no one had ever done something like this for him? Still, he was making things awkward again, like usual! Uhm- uhm- damn it- “It is beautiful, En...” he opted to just say what was going through his head, or at least a fraction of it, hopefully also explaining the pause his brain took. Lior chuckled at the king mentioning he was not a gardener. “It seems like your daughter has a hand for flowers then?” because some of them were certainly not easy to grow, as far as he knew. His gardening knowledge was more centered around the place where he was born, which was significantly colder, so things were probably different around here.
The elf sat down when offered the chair and was about to explain that he did not mind bugs – some were actually quite beautiful! - when the fireflies started buzzing around. He took a closer look at one that had landed on his hand before looking back at En. “Thank you... for this.” Lior was really trying here to actually talk, okay? “I don't think-”, no, that was a bad thing to say. He sighed, then chuckled lightly. “You know, it's kind of funny that I earn money with telling stories but just can't seem to find the right words whenever-” that was also not ideal, probably. Anywayyyyy... he awkwardly cleared his throat. “I'm sorry, I'm rambling. How have you been?”
