General Thread for PSAs

Posted 8 years, 1 day ago (Edited 5 years, 6 months ago) by Vespisia

Hello!

8/9: New PSA added.

5/14: 2 new PSAs added.

4/8: New PSA posted and additional information on Squidribs added to relevant PSA.

It was suggested that there should perhaps be a general thread for PSAs which is a fine idea. A place that links to other PSAs and keep things organized.
You can link your threads/PSAs/etc, and I'll add them to the posts. :D
Please Note: I can only accept public PSAs. Anon PSAs are too much of a risk to accept, as they can be open to slander.

Things That Count for PSAs!
-Scams
-Illegally chargebacked (you did a commission, but person claims you never did, for instance)
-Being shifty on doing owed things (taking months on an icon for example, lack of contact or updates, etc)
-Tracing and profiting off of it...
-Etc...

Things That Don't Count!
-Someone has better art than you
-Rude behavior
-Subjective issues
-Dog ate your homework

Obviously, this is just the basic frame work. Each case is different. For instance, someone could go around harassing artists for art and customs, or for people to give up their adopts and whatnot, and that could almost certainly be considered for a PSA...

Of course, it would be great if no more PSAs occur, but in the case they do, I support people posting them because they keep the community safe and will link to them in this general thread. owo/

There'll be two posts, one for PSAs and one for resolved cases! ^^

BaraDad If you plan on making a PSA, absolutely try to track down the original sources of the traced images. Failing that, you could post what information you do have and more eyes might be able to help you fill in the gaps. Good luck with the situation!

I'd honestly cancel. That's....really skeevy. Personally...if there's a chance the art will be heavily referenced from someone else's piece and you are uncomfortable, it's best to find someone else to do your com. If you haven't paid yet, then you've not lost out on anything.

So...I just traded for a character. As I was doing so...I thought it felt way too familiar. Turns out, it was an egg swap adopt. The old owner did the egg design. I made the actual design. Neither the egg nor the original design were uploaded. Nor was I credited for my part in designing the character.

I'll admit that there's also a minor gripe with the 'redesign.' That being that it was just the design I did, with fur added and white 'freckles'. But, that's a minor gripe.

I'm not quite sure how to go about dealing with the situation, since I've had bad experiences with this person in the past. But I feel like my part in the design should have been credited. Especially since they barely changed the design.

I can post a link to the design in a bit. I gotta calm down first because I'm.....not very pleased to have to upload missing art because what if someone else had traded for the bab without knowing there was more art if I hadn't of?

I'm in need of an advice. So back last year around November I believe I agreed with one user to do an art trade. I've delivered my part not too long after we agreed, and they uploaded it onto their character's gallery.

However they didn't do their part yet. I've messaged them several time, reminding them about the trade and asking for any update but the last note has been opened and ignored. I have no idea what to do, I would like to get their part since I've done mine and already delivered it.

Should I make a PSA about said user? Or just a bulletin, idk

Please help

PaperTsubaki I mean it wasn't a freebie right, so heck even if it's an original story not a recycled you should  be able to see if they'd be willing to change the lit to reflect your character more. I don't seem any harm in asking.

I'd hold off on bringing up the idea that it might be a recycled story for just a bit but if they refuse to make any changes or work with you, absolutely bring that up with the artist. Sure they might have jsut put the wrong name and got your character ooc but I have seen a few people recycle stories this in the past and unless it was a like a full freebie and not like a trade I think it's pretty rude to recycle old stories without letting the person know. Plus if it is, you'd have no idea how many times they might have done that.

Worst comes to worst and they won't work with you, please post a psa if you feel comfortable doing so cause that's some pretty sketchy behaviour.

Hi! I have a PSA up on an artist I commissioned almost a year ago who seems to have fallen off the face of the net - I never did get my commissions and my last interaction with them was last December. Deviantart marks a note I sent them in May as "read" though.

If anyone knows how I can get in touch with this person please let me know! ;;

Beefy hey! I checked in with the maker and they said they’re okay with it, so as long as it’s not a sale!

This is resolved and I do not want to be involved any further and am laying this to rest.
