Secret Room

Abstaining from drugs was getting to be difficult. Without his everyday intake, his body often felt physically drained and confused.

This is when a new character enters the picture. Knowing he needed help or he'd go crazy, Devin called his friend to keep him from doing reckless things. When midnight came, he was more active. He'd be awake from 12 AM to 3 AM because the moon gave him energy. This energy was now negative and caused him to be destructive. This was a result of his frustration of not having drugs- his body wasn't used to it.

Whenever Devin felt like doing something destructive, his friend would inject him with a very strong tranquilizer and drag him into a room at the very end of the hall. Covering the door was a cage, and Devin was kept in there until he was sensible and could be let out. It is unknown if his friend is human or not, but it requires a great deal of strength to drag nearly 300 pounds of weight down a long hallway, and in a short window of time before Devin woke up.

Scratches and deep claw marks covered the walls. There were no windows and no light in the room, but his eyes could see everything clearly with the bit of light coming from under the door.

Devin underwent this harsh rehabilitation for two years before he felt he was totally reformed. Once his friend approved of his better behavior, they left him back on his own.

While Devin was setting up his house, he chose a special room to store his guns and personal belongings in. And since these things were very sensitive to him, he'd never let anyone see them. This is why he locked the room at all times, always keeping the key near or on him.

By the time Devin was 25, he met a man named Carlisle Briggs. Carlisle was a middle-aged man who spent most of his time on the streets or in bars. He was very friendly, and when he met Devin, they somewhat became friends. The two men shared their stories with each other. Devin was reluctant on giving information about his past, but Carlisle didn't seem to notice.

One day, Carlisle came to Devin asking to stay at his place since he'd have nowhere to stay for a while. Devin hesitantly allowed him in to stay in the guest room, but advised him not to mess with the door at the end of the hall. Carlisle obeyed and he stayed for five days. But on the sixth night, Carlisle brought home alcoholic beverages and persuaded Devin to partake in a shot competition. Devin acquiesced to his own desires, and soon got drunk and blacked out. He woke up hours later around 3 AM, and stumbled into the bathroom to vomit. On his way out, he noticed the room door wide open. Thinking he was hallucinating, he blinked several times and checked his pockets for the key, only to find that it was gone. He realized that Carlisle had deliberately disobeyed him. That was the only thing that could register in his mind.

He walked quietly into the room and saw him lying on the floor with a bottle in hand, mumbling and barely conscious. Devin closed the door behind him, letting total darkness consume the room as there were no light fixtures, and no cracks around the door. He put his hand around Carlisle's neck and began to squeeze as hard as he could. Devin's expression was ill as he strangled the one who once was a friend. Carlisle struggled to pull Devin's arm away with all of his strength, but the more he fought back, the harder Devin squeezed.

"You betrayed me! I thought I could trust you but you did it anyway!" He yelled drunkenly. Carlisle's limbs soon went limp and he died within minutes. His neck was severely bruised, his windpipe was crushed, and a part of his spine was dislocated from being slammed to the ground with such excessive force. Devin felt little remorse and buried his body in a dense forest. He became a person of interest in Carlisle's disappearance, but was put off due to insufficient evidence.

This was the first sign of his unhinged mental state. Another sign appeared one year later.

Sandra Hendrix. After she had been stalking and obsessing over Devin for months, she found her way into his home one night when he was gone. The locked room piqued her interest and she made plans to get the key from him.

Days later, she managed to take the key from his pocket by getting closely behind him in a store. He did not notice it missing. At this time, the room only required one key. Later that day, she sneaked into the house once again, this time at night. She was too excited to take the time to check when he was coming back that night, and it led to her demise.

She unlocked the door and looked through every single belonging in the room. Each held very sensitive info about Devin and his entire past. Her thoughts were so overloaded, she didn't hear his car pulling up in the driveway. She jumped at the sound of the front door unlocking, and scrambled to put everything back where she found it. She was making an awful lot of noise. Panicking a bit, she looked for a window in the dark room, but the only one she found was bolted shut. By the time she'd thought of breaking it, Devin was already in the living room. She couldn't run to shut the door, as he'd already noticed it open from down the hall. In her obsession, she gave up her efforts to escape and decided to finally get a closer look at him. Sandra would just have to see what way he'd "punish" her in.

His shadow loomed over her as he looked down at the familiar intruder. She marveled in the glory of his most direct attention and fell to her knees. Shedding tears in her affinity for him, she thought, "It was more than worth it." before she was met with a painless end; a shot to the head. Devin later discovered that she was his bothersome stalker and resented her. He disposed of her body in another distant forest, making sure that no residue or DNA was left behind. She was never reported missing ever since.

Devin felt grief and guilt, but his secrets were more important. So he put a second lock on the door.
