The tales of the house- death and butterflies

Vondila was looking at Nessa's witch her brain going fuzzy as she let her eyes slip close for a moment tears stinging her face. When she opened her eyes again the first thing she noticed was no pain. She hadn't even registered how much pain she was in. Looking around she saw she was back in the alley but more importantly she could see out her damaged eye. That was disorienting. "Focus on the now. Figure out the eye thing later." She muttered and tried to drop her transformation. Nothing happened. "Shit." That never happened before. "Okay Vondila think." She chewed her lip. Thats when it hit her no one else was here with her. "Percy? Ana? Aeron? Ophelia?" She called out for her friends. Shit. "Guys this really isn't funny. What happened?" Was it Belladona? Had she pulled some trick? "Fuck her." She muttered and stumbled out of the alleyway on the street. She practically screamed when she saw a nearly 10 foot tall person with long limbs and more eyes on its face then she liked. It glared at her and walked off.

What was going on? She was fighting a witch then... it was Nessa's witch. Tears stung her eyes again. Shit Nessa was gone. "Nessa is gone." She muttered aloud and leaned on Nessa's building. "And I have no idea whats going on."

Nessa felt like she was in limbo, drifting in and out of consciousness it felt like every time she woke up she only dropped deeper and deeper into a dream, she could faintly hear laughter from rooms and rooms away as she struggled to wake.

With a shuddering breath she snapped awake head spinning as her eyes focused on the ceiling above her, she went to wipe at her face but something felt off.

Her muscles felt awkward and heavy, too many fingers were on her face, raising her hands above her head she notices two pairs of white hands too, was she lying on someone? Before she could even make sense of what was happening she felt a sharp crunching sensation in the back of her head, like breaking a bone and a sharp pulling sensation knocked the air from her lungs as the ground disappeared from beneath her as she felt like she was being dragged through the air, her head was spinning as she crumpled to the ground in a bright yellow flash of light. Trying to catch her breath, Nessa's head was spinning as she struggled to focus on her surroundings; what was going on? Was this a witch? She felt for her soul gem and began to panic when she couldn't find it.

Vondila trying to think when yellow light started to filter out from the building above her. "Wha?" She turned around and saw the yellow better. "Vanessa?" She knew of no other yellow magi... that was alive kinda. Nessa was dead. But then again that was the light of her soul gem. Unless Eb or Flow were granting a really powerful wish. She shook her head. What ever it was she needed to figure it out. She stepped away from the building enough to look up better. Thats when a yellow butterfly formed in the sky and shot off. It had to be Nessa. Eb and Flow was wrong and Nessa was able todo what ever this was. She had to follow it so she took off at a dead sprint.

A messy tangle of limbs as she searched her clothes desperately for her soul gem; did someone have it? Is that what's going on? Belladona was somehow messing with her soul? Feeling her stomach lurch Vanessa caught herself momentarily from collapsing on the ground but the other arms around her only ended up knocking into each other, she felt pain shoot up three separate elbows as she hissed in pain. Looking down to find where these arms were coming from she saw them jutting out not from behind her but her sides, gingerly reaching out to them she could feel her fingertips trace where the arms connected to her, her brow furrowed at she tried to think about what that meant, eyes catching on another addition--or rather, subtraction from her body. Taking a shaky breath her hand reaches out to the massive hole in her abdomen.

Vondila ran trying to keep her eyes on the butterfly buy it dived down into some housing area. Shit. Using magic she pushed her energy into her legs and leapt into the air she saw the yellow glow fade from the house that the butterfly dived into. Okay now she knew were to go. She landed on a building and with magic leapt again to then next building.

A laugh bubbles its way out of Vanessa's mouth, body shaking. She could feel everything, each extra hands moving independently, muscles shifting, the floor beneath her knees, the room still spinning around her. But despite the amount of pinching she wasn't waking up. But how could any of this this be real?

Vondila was getting closer to the house. She no longer had the light that was clearly Nessa she had to hope it was and that witch wasn't her and Flow was wrong. She landed on another house this time closer. Not really seeing any more light in the house she did start to worry. Maybe she was just loosing it. Or this was a witches trap. She still hadn't really thought of that huge ass person.

Laughter stopping, Nessa rolls onto her back and stares at the unfamiliar ceiling, focusing on a water stain enough until she felt less dizzy, less disoriented. She tried to collect her thoughts, there was the team meeting where everyone said they would trust Belladona not to kill them after such a long time of harassment and threats because Percy said she was cool, really. She chewed her lip in annoyance.

Vondila said she was a mistake and she felt her nails dig into all six of her palms, stinging at the flesh as she remembered that. It's not like she necessarily wanted to be made Vondila's successor, but to be told by someone that they regretted trusting you hurt. She remembered storming off, feeling like shit. She tried calling her parents, she thinks.

Releasing her red-raw lip from her teeth a thought gets caught in the back of her throat; it felt like something was clicking into place but maybe her head was still spinning to connect the dots, or maybe she just didn't want to think too hard about how those calls went. Pushing herself up from the floor she reaches to a nearby sofa, frowning at how small is was next to her. Was this a hobbits house?

Vondila finally landed on the roof of the house that the butterfly dived into. "Okay." She muttered and looked around the yard. No sign of life on the yard. A few people on the street just walking but they seemed to pay her no mind. At least they looked normal. She jumped down to the ground and looked around again. Nothing. Perfect. She climbed up the planted covered wall and with one of her cards got the window to open. She slipped inside and looked around. It was clearly a teenage boys room. Weird. She took a moment and pulled out more of her cards just incase there was something here that would try and hurt her before walking to the door.

Ducking her head slightly as she shambled out of the miniature living room, Vanessa took in her surroundings; nothing struck her as familiar, this wasn't Ana's house or the twins' home; why had whatever dragged her here put her here? She frowned, what had brought her here? Was this even Seaford? She freezes when she hears something up the stairs; "Hello"? She says, all too quietly.

Vondila gets out from the room into a hallway. Okay nothing much here. She then makes her way towards the stairs. Looking down them she doesn't see anything. Okay maybe she was just being a little on edge with everything. It was a house that had a giant yellow butterfly made of light dive into it. How could have Nessa even done this. God she just broke into a house... but she needed to make sure Nessa wasn't here. She stepped down the stairs wincing at they creaked in the silent house.

Nessa felt her body tense as footsteps neared. Heart pounding in her ears she panicked, her magic was always pathetic so her staff would be no good, but with the extra limbs would her sword be any better? What if someone saw her and thought she was a monster? Looking down at herself once more she scrambled, trying to find somewhere to hide.

Vondila heard movement. Something was here. She moved fast running the last few steps and into a large living room.

Still uncoordinated from everything that's happened in the last hour or so, Nessa stumbled over the edge of a rug, crashing to her knee's with a groan she looks up at a familiar face...

Vondila saw Vanessa's face. The yellow eyes and black sclera looked back at her from above before the other was on the ground. "Nessa!" She dropped her weapon in shock to see her friend. Tears stung her eyes. "Your..." Her voice cut off now taking in fully what Nessa looked like. The other was also in her magi outfit but this time she had more arms and a hole. "What happened?" She asked in worry.

"Von..."? She asked, almost not believing it.

It was her, all decked out for battle but her eyes were different, though one was still damaged they had become pure green.

"I don't-are we in a Labrynth?" She asked, thinking maybe this was all an illusion of some sort, she sits up onto her haunches, taking slow deliberate movements seemed best for now.

Vondila wasn't honestly sure. "I... I was fighting a witch then I closed my eyes and I was just outside your apartment building." The white arms and hole finally clicked in her head. "It was your witch... but your here and alive."

"My witch"? Vanessa repeated numbly. Oh. Oh it all made horrible, horrible sense now.

"What do you-you mean I'm doing all this"? She asked, looking down at her hands, horrified.

Vondila shook her head. "I don't think you're doing anything." She started thinking. "We were fighting your witch and we knew it was you cause Flow told us... and it hurt. I was upset then." She remembered how she had started blacking out and how she had a thought about apologizing to Salem. "I died." She finally said aloud. Tears stinging her eyes. "We're dead."

Vanessa nodded as Von spoke, hearing someone else say it, after all of this, made sense.

"Von, I-I'm so sorry I must've--" She began, if the last thing she remembered before dying was fighting her, then it could only mean that she killed her.

"I never wanted any of this to happen" She babbles, curling up on herself.

Vondila looked at Nessa basically threw herself at the other to hug her. "Shit Nessa it's not your fault. I messed up as well. If anything I should apologize to you cause maybe if I had been better I wouldn't have hurt you like I did."

"You did your best, with everything" Nessa wrapped her arms around Von, treating her like glass with her new body. Was she always this small or was this just another side effect?

"I wanted to tell you that, that I shouldn't have blamed you for keeping the truth a secret. I would've done the same and I-" She rests her head on Von's shoulder;

"i just wanted to protect everyone" She barely whispers.

Vondila shook her head still holding Nessa. "I didn't do my best. I was running on nothing. I was drinking most of the time. I just wanted things to try and go back and thats why I thought changing plans would work." She pulled away enough her tears streaming down her face. "I hurt you so much more then I ever wanted to."

Nessa looked at Vondila, one of her first real friends she could remember, she thought about how she seemed to have a knack for hurting people she cared about as she listened to Vondila talk.

"I should've done better, I wanted to help but i-" she swallows a lump in her throat; "I should've been there for everyone instead of trying to do it all myself" it was funny, how dying seemed to put it all in perspective.

Vondila had a dry laugh. "And I'm older meaning I should've known better but I didn't. I never let anyone in till it was just me and Salem." She sighed a bit, her chest hurting at the fact she'll never see Salem again. "Nessa your one of my best friends and I didn't take that into account at all... I was trying to be the leader you all thought I was... But I'm not a leader."

Lips pressed into a thin line as she let Vondila talk, a defeated Nessa rested her head on her friends shoulder with a sigh; "I guess we both messed up pretty colossally, huh?" She asks wryly.

Vondila nodded. "Yeah." She then sighed. "So how did you teleport here with that light show?"

Vanessa frowned, lifting her head; "I dunno, I don't even know where here is. I think...I think I woke up near my home?" She scrunches her face, trying to think.

"It was like I was waking up from a really weird dream but by the time I had gotten a sense of where I was there was like, something pulling me and before I knew it I was being dragged all the way here" She explains, trying to make sense of it all to herself too.

"Do you think it has something to do with me being a..." She looks down at her new form "how I died? Like I gotta check in with an Ebo or Flow about powering the universe now that I'm dead or something?"

Vondila looked over Nessa again. "You look like your witch kinda. Like the multiple arms and the hole." She held her hand right by the hole. "Does it hurt?"

Vanessa flexes her fingers experimentally, briefly wondering just what her Witch looked like with all of this; "It doesn't hurt...it's just weird. Like the opposite of pins and needles. The arms are real and I can feel them but also" She moves them all independently, it's clumsy and they knock into each other; "Their a part of me, I have to focus but I'm doing this" she explains before looking down at her abdomen; "This just feels...empty" she crosses her arms over herself before looking back at her old captain; "How do you feel?" She asks.

m

Vondila reached out and took one of Nessa's arms. "Physically fine. One of the first things I noticed was no pain... I hadn't even noticed the pain I was in before." She explained. "I'm shocked that the prosthetic came with me." She looked at her floating hand and saw the beans on her fingers changed. "The beans changed." She stated. "The yellow is like your yellow. The pinky looks like Ana. The green has to be Percy. And I'm not sure about the other two." She thought aloud.

Vanessa leaned into Von's touch, happy fort he comfort, the pain she was in before...Vanessa chewed her lip at that before shifting at the mention of Percy and Ana.

"Did I...do you know if their okay?" She asks, anxiously.

Vondila stood quietly for a moment. "No one else was there when I came to." She explained. "So unless we go looking we have to hope that they are." She said softly. "Percy and Ana can take care of everyone." Especially with Salem going to be down... She didn't have to see her twin to know this hurt her the most.

She let out a shaky sigh "Good...that's-that's good" her smile is weak and doesn't reach her eyes, Ana was probably better off without her but a part of her had hoped to get the chance to apologize to her.

Vondila squeezed Nessa's hand. "I know this is dark but we will see them again. Magi don't live for ever... I was probably on borrowed time when we first met." She muttered. "Though the return of depth perception is what messing me up the most right now. Why would dying fix my eye but not my arm?" She reached up and pushed a little to hard into Nessa's face before pulling back.

"Yeah...yeah I guess you right" She sighs, closing her eyes, she squeezes her hand back, trying to be gentle before her eyes shot open; "You can see out of it now"? She asks, snapping out of her thoughts; smile warming a little at the feel of Vondila's hand on her face, leaning into it a little before feeling it pull away. "Maybe because there's still something there to fix? They cant give you back a missing arm but they can fix up a broken eye"? She ponders, eyes tracing over Vondila's body, if that was the case then why did she have the scars too?

"Yeah I can. I had to jump here with it closed cause I kept over correcting." Vondila explained. "Maybe? It could kinda detect light if it was bright enough." She felt sad when Nessa pulled away from her touch. "I mean honestly seems like a lot is possible. I mean your even prettier then you were before." She spoke without thinking. "Also if your mixed with your witch that would explain that person I saw that was really tall with to many eyes."

She hums, mind going back over the medical textbooks she used to cram and practice over, wondering how, whatever cosmic power healed her, decided what to heal. Her stomach--whether it was still there or not now with the hole--lurched as she heard Vondila's comment, feeling her body tense at what she said, Vanessa tried to shake it off, she couldn't have meant that, or if she did it was in the way an exotic insect or plan was pretty, she decided.

"So there's other magi here? I-" She blinks "I don't know why I thought we'd be the only ones here, really" She confesses with a small laugh, realizing how stupid that sounded.

"Well I saw humans not sure if its just magi or if this a general afterlife." Vondila muttered. "Though I wasn't really paying attention to much other then were you were going. Honestly though this house isn't that close to your condo. Which out of everything is the confusing part. Why here?"

Vanessa wasn't really familiar with the concept of heaven or hell, and this certainly didn't match what television had built an afterlife up to be and a part of her almost wants to find whoever is in charge and tell them she's got the wrong fate. That she's supposed to be reincarnated, but being here with Vondila right now? Another life could wait, she thought taking in her surroundings.

"I don't even recognize this place" She admits, wracking her brain for any time she could've been in a home like this.

"It's not Ana's place" She reasons thinking of the only other home in Seaford she could've had the faintest connection to.

Vondila looked around and got up and stepped away from Nessa. "Nor are we in the right area to be Belladona's." She muttered. Seeing some photos on a mantel she walked closer to them to see them. It was hard to make out but seeing the dark blue eyes and puff of hair. She was able to tell it was Percy but younger. "Percy." She muttered. "I think this is Percy's house... but why would you be teleported here?"

Vanessa got to her feet a little inelegantly as she tried to use her arms to push off the ground, she finally gave her surroundings a good look. Nothing really struck her as familiar, even peaking out of the window didn't stir up a memory, she tensed a little, when Vondila realized where they were. Licking her lips slightly, she thinks; "Maybe he couldn't find Eb or Flow? So like, he took me--my grief seed home"? She suggests. It made as much sense as anything else, she decided.

Vondila hummed. "Maybe..." She then looked upset. "Does that mean a bunch of random magi are in my condo? And even more in the sanctuary?" She then snorted. "Salem joked about the condo being haunted before maybe it really is." She then looked over at Nessa. "So do you wanna stay here or go else where? Seaford seems to be mostly the same as we know it... other then it seems bigger."

Nessa hums, good naturedly at the thought of a bunch of ghosts all being crammed into a condo as her hand twitches at the curtains in front of her. Smile faltering slightly as she looks outside.

"I..." Her voice catches in her throat.

"I'm actually kinda tired" she lied. "I might uh, I'll probably have a nap but I mean-" She quickly tries to reassure Von; "You can, if you want. Uh-if it's not just us then there's probably Magi you wanna catch up with, right? I'll be..." She hesitates, looking back at her hands "I'll be waiting here, if you want to meet up again" somehow she sounds so hopeful but also dreading at the same time.

Vondila listens. "Nap sounds cool too. Honestly dying kinda has taken it out of me... especially with the running and jumping." She states. "Also who the fuck would I want to catch up? The only person I care about thats dead is right in front of me." She flushed a bit. "So your not getting rid of me that easy."

Vanessa's breath hitches at Vondila's affirmation that despite everything, despite how rotten she had become, she still cared about her. She had said it over and over during this brief moment they had found each other but now, with the option to finally turn away and move on the best she could with a new life--or afterlife, the option to find old loved ones and friends, she still chose to be by her side. Feeling her bottom lip tremble she quickly tries to cover her face as her shoulders shuddered with emotion.

Vondila walked up to Nessa and out her hand on one othe other's arms. "You okay? If you want to be alone I understand." In reality she didn't understand. Von never really was alone she always had Salem.

Vanessa shook her head, two arms reaching out for Von's without her knowing; "I jus-after everything I wouldn't blame you if-" She sucks in a breath.

Vondila sighed. "If I what? Am mad at you? Nessa... I was hurt but also how do I put this." She thought for a moment. "To be blunt your not the only one that fucked up. This was all caused cause I had a fight with Belladona over my twin. I was the one that came out of walpurgis with little injury. So if anyone here should be mad at anyone you should be mad at me. I dragged the whole team into this mess cause I didn't stop you and Ana from looking to me as a leader. And honestly I was a shit leader. I made my own twin tell you two the truth because I.... I was scared to loose you."

Nessa's hands gripped her tighter as she spoke, as if trying to support them both.

"I just..." She begins, before letting Von continue with her explanation of events.

"You are--were, our leader. We chose to follow you, after all" She points out, her other hands began to scrub at her face, trying to wipe the dewy tears away and instead only milking them free. She wondered if she would've felt less betrayed, all that time ago, if she had heard the truth from Von's mouth instead of Salem's, to feel like they were being trusted with the information, than the idea of Salem going behind her back to tell them. She guessed it didn't matter, anymore. She rests her head on top of Vondila's.

"Thank you" she murmurs quietly, if she wasn't so close to her, the other woman probably wouldn't have heard her.

Vondila leaned in to the touch. Hearing the small thank you she felt her eyes go wet. "Thank you as well." She murmured back. She was so glad Vanessa and Mariana were in her life even if she failed them.

After a moment like that, between soft sniffles and gentle rubs of her thumb over Vondila's wrists, Vanessa found herself giving into a wry smile and chuckle; "I actually am kinda tired but I'm not sure I'll fit a bed like this" She sighs "You don't s'pose Percy's parents had a triple king sized bed"? She mused

Vondila was honestly starting to doze off in Nessa's arms. The other's chest shaking with a chukle woke her back up. She pulled away and rubbed her eyes. "We can always check." She then yawned. "Sorry." She muttered and holding Nessa's hand leader her towards the stairs. "It can be a sleep over but like actually sleeping she joked."

"Sorry" She winces, seeing that she had disturbed Von before laughing a little at them both saying sorry at the same time, Nessa had to duck her head slightly as she followed Von up the stairs, heart sinking a little at the memory of the last time she had a "sleepover"--or rather, the last time Ana had stayed with her. Her grip on Von's hand tightened ever so slightly as she let herself be led away; "What a novel idea" she hums.
