Caroling

The day lit sky was illuminated against the white background. The wind howling unforgivably as it brought it’s cold breath with it, granting the land soft frosty flakes that it had been receiving for quite some time now. Long treks of land left untouched, or looked to be as the passing voice of nature would whisk away any footprints or tracks. Wandering along in the newly dropped anow, the also white covered bush dragon was wondering how did she let herself get roped into this... adventure of a sort.

She had been trekking with the other two now, with the idea to sing holiday related songs strong on their minds. A time to lift the spirits of others and provide some festive cheer to the land. It was a good idea, a very wholesome one, so maybe that’s why she found herself trailing behind the other two.

The barren land was without a doubt chilly enough for the non-furred ones to require extra laters. Even covered in her own thick and nice cover of fur, Lief has still came outside sporting the fashionable and festive hat and scarf that was currently blowing in the whistling wind that wanted to sing along with them before they even started. It warmed her enough that she didn’t mind too much, even if the snow would blow a nice load of flakes right into her face when she wasn’t expecting it.

Looking ahead to the other two leading the way, they together were quite the group. The biggest of them was a black and fuzzy looking one. From behind they didn’t look too intimidating, but as he turned to look back at her she was reminded just how... scary looking he was, to say the least. He also had a red hat similar to her own with soft fuzz along the brim and the hat tip, along with a very long and tattered scarf that definitely seen better days. He looked pleased enough though, and Lief was going to leave it at that.

Perched on top of the black one sat a female, folded into a nice looking warm bundle and also nestled into some of his longer velvet scales to keep herself warm. The bat looking female was the more peppy of them, and maybe the only one to be ever so pleased about the trio out and about through the storm they were bracing in the name of spreading holiday cheer. When she lifted her wings, there looked to be a hand made sweater on her, red in color and decorated with white shapes.

“It’s so nice and lovely out! Don’t you agree?” The bat asked, snuggling deeper into the black and scary looking dragon who looked back at her and nodded, growling lowly as a response. “Do you think we’ll come across any homes soon? It’s a little chilly out, can’t go home sick or riders would be very sad!” She didn’t mind, as she bunkered down more, but she did seem to care about the rest of them.

“I think there are some homes right through this passing, I’ve seen lights on when i go through.” Lief interjected, getting a happy squeak from the bat who tugged lightly on the male who put a little more joy in his step. Or maybe that was from the snow clinging to his legs.

Their trek after that was rather quiet, aside from some batty calls to make sure everyone else was still feeling that holiday cheer. The wind was less treacherous between the two raised land masses, the wind having a harder time reaching them as they tried to make it to their unset point B.

It was a decent ten or fifteen minutes before they passed fully through the two mountain range, the snow much deeper but it wasn’t too much effort as it was mostly fluff and cold. It was darker than when they started, snow falling harder as they had traveled farther up a mountain range without realizing it.

“Is that a house?” The bat squeed, uncoccooing herself to spread out her wings and fly ahead while the bigger two followed behind. In the distance, a light on through a single window. A log house nestled between a grouping of trees and almost went unnoticed, thankfully not though as now they could start their wholesome task.

Arriving to the doorstep soon after the bat, she knocked on the door first, this time sitting on Lief’s head as they all waited patiently. As the door opened, a skinny looking humanoid answered, a pair of feathering wings and tail visible from the cracked door as they started singing at first off key but fell into a harmonized noise that could be called caroling. Their poor victim of choice was amused by the sudden arrival of dragons, calling forward his own medium sized dragon who came to the door and listened to the not terrible attempt. Maybe the rider just was also in the festive mood though, his clothes red and white as well with those nice soft fluffs around the edges, making him look like a weird modern and young santa if santa happened to be feathered thing.

The pair clapped as they finished, getting some nice praise for their attempt and even a cookie that his dragon has brought with them from... hopefully a kitchen? None of them complained as they marched on, cookie being nibbled as they moved to the next house.
