uses a large variety of instruments, like unique-sounding woodwind ones, goat horns, or harps and fiddles strung by thread created by the abominations of the Nether! yeah, this place sucks - it's grim, dead, and dangerous - Basalt's gift of learning the Overworlder's invention of music has led him to make the Nether a more tolerable place for travelers.

has an alliance with the Piglin folk; they're very territorial so he knows not to mess with them, but they have taught him their ways of recreational activities, song and dance. they will defend him if he calls, as the gilded horn he was gifted produces a widely recognized signal of 'Help; danger here' that neighboring Piglins will abide by. Basalt is quite peaceful and dislikes combat, so it's a relief that he has such strong allies!

his songs have been seen to calm enraged monsters and reduce them to a friendly puppy in terms of aggressiveness. if you're ever caught in a rough place against disgusting hellbeasts, don't be alarmed when the sound of a long, bellowing horn fills the air... it's like a dog whistle, but for demons.

as a hot-blooded creature who naturally resides in extremely hot and dry temperatures, if exposed to the cold his body goes into a hibernation-like state where he conserves much more energy and moves very sluggishly. it isn't harmful in any nature, just the natural reaction he has in order to continue survival.

however - water or rain burns his thick skin like lava would do to a human, but the blackened rock-like parts on his arms and legs can be wet without any harm. yet, once he arrived in the overworld for the first time, seeing rain fascinated him... its unique smell was something he has never encountered before, and the sight of so many crystalline droplets falling from the vast sky really was something from another world.
