the destined hero of a world cursed with eternal nightfall who is, conveniently, afraid of the dark. he guides his way with bright lantern or torch light and has many nervous complaints when he’s told they must be put out when sleeping in the wild. nightlights are quite good monster bait...

upon being gifted his powers, he realized he’s very intolerant to strong shifts of mana in his body. when casting strong spells or regenerating mana in a burst, he’ll often feel quite sick... an uncommon but easy to fix trait, as it’s only a matter of getting used to it.

but first, maybe Gold should stop going absolutely all out whenever he uses his magic… such a thing thrusts him into a mana sickness-induced sleep for days, but by god he’ll do it again and again, given his tendencies in combat. fighting with a sword gets boring, you know!

has grown to heavily dislike his role. he’s never been a figure to look up to until word got out that he’s the chosen one, and stage fright hits like a TRUCK when told to give a speech to tens of thousands of the kingdom’s civilians! never again, man!!

believed to be the second-coming of the Lightbearer, the protagonist of an old legend that is said to have slain a gargantuan demon and sealed its kind in a deep, dark chasm, causing the sun to rise once more. this event supposedly happened one thousand years ago (conveniently not an odd random number, that would give for terrible storytelling,) and tells of the demon’s seal not lasting forever.

all magic weakens with time... thus begins the second uprising of the Scarring, the title given to the demon’s wrath long ago - as their power brought long, deep gashes through the tallest mountain range, scarring the very earth.

used to be a farmhand as a child, living quite the peaceful life in a small mountain village, Tunstead Pass. he’s always taken a strong liking to bright, glowy and shiny things, like watching prisms refract light.

his prized item was a small, shiny crystal chunk that when tilted in your hands, displayed an array of rainbows due to small bits of water trapped inside. he’s always been quite the bright (…pun intended) and imaginative kid, bringing stories he’s heard of strong warriors, dragons and shining magical shooting stars to life.

...that is, if they’re even fairytales in the first place, as one fateful night many years later, gazing at the sky, Gold spotted another falling star. it’s common to try and chase it, even though it’s so very far away up in the sky...

but it instead landed right into his palms in a brilliant flash of light, its glow broadcast high into the sky like a holy beacon. when he had come to his senses, he noticed a mark on the back of his right hand that precisely matched the grand-winged symbol spoken of in old myths. it's said that this fallen fragment of the sky is its final gift, and the 'skyfall' was witnessed across the land, symbolising a new era. and thus, his journey began as rumors spread of dark clouds approaching as the very earth rumbles with fear...
