Personality

Barley is a delightful cat on the look out for danger and a fun adventure. Though he may wander from time to time, he quite enjoys helping to lead the crew of the Wanderlust and is a decent leader, though not without some direction from Spiri. He's got a good heart, and is quite brave, able to get out of many tricky situations with random items he has on paw and his words. He'll often use his skill in speech to talk with the other cats, become friends with everyone, and most of all, cause trouble.

He doesn't mean trouble in a bad way, but he just enjoys pranking a few stuck up cats, or even the not stuck up ones. Barley can't get by in life without making a little mischief, but everyone else seems to think he should be able to just... not. Well, let them think that. Barley knows life is only more fun with a little bit of chaos thrown into the mix. Gotta get those sailors ready for anything! The only cat that he refuses to bother is Sven, the little green cat that Barley has taken under his metaphorical wing. He might even teach Sven how to get into trouble, too!

History

Barley's been sailing with the crew of the Wanderlust for quite the long span of time. Alongside Spiri, he's one of the cats who was present when most of the previous crew were killed by bandits. It was a scary time, and while Barley's always loved finding trouble, he didn't like that type of trouble. To Barley, a good adventure meant getting lost at sea for an hour and singing silly songs to make the time go on by. The death of so many of his friends was devastating.

As one of the more senior members left alive, his vote to instate Spiri as captain held quite a fair bit of weight. And when Spiri was promoted, she asked Barley to be her new first mate, and help keep the remaining cats safe and in line. The black and white cat gladly agreed, and they set off on brand new adventures.

Some time later, when a concerning portal opened up to a whole new world, Barley jumped on in, after a quick farewell to Spiri, and went on another chaotic journey. This time was stranger, a long, melancholy time away from friends - though Barley made new friends in the realm of endless battles and bright trees. He came back home with a whole group of cats wanting to go on a sailor's voyage through the seas of Silvarum. It didn't take much convincing for Spiri to let them all join properly - after all, they were in need of more cats to help man the sails and the cannons.

Barley got right back in to the life he used to know, and grew to love it even more with so many bright personalities on board the Wanderlust. They were all going to do great things, and he was delighted to be a part of it.
