Jinx was part of a traveling magic show in the early 1900's with their partner Raven. After one particular night in a strange town, Jinx heard rumors of strange magic and horrible monsters residing within a nearby forest. After going to investigate, Jinx fell headfirst into the world of Monsters and Hunters. They became obsessed with them, so much so that Raven left out of concern for their old friend's wellbeing. Traveling only seemed to be wearing her down more, so Raven thought that some time alone would do her some good.

Jinx encountered an odd creature, one that had managed to gain powers from every strain of Monsters, some long dead. It agreed to give Jinx powers, but a sacrifice had to be made. Raven's decision to leave came from walking in on Jinx deciding the thing they were willing to sacrifice was an eye.

Every time Jinx has managed to master a power they were given, they return to the creature to gain another. The first and strongest power they received was Shadow powers, while the powers they also hold but are less experienced with include personification, manipulating fourth wall breaks to her advantage, forcing people to do things by trapping their souls in debts to her, illusions, and the most recent is mind control. Because mind control is the most recent of their powers, Jinx hasn't had the time to practice it much. It seems especially effective against other Lead Monsters.

Jinx's favorite use of shadow and personification is to create a being from their own shadow, one that is willing to do whatever Jinx thinks it should do, albeit sometimes a bit more violently than she would prefer. Jinx is the one who sent Zilla and Raven to hunt down the Boys after they realized that they had all started to gain powers and posed a potential threat to her.

Jinx still considers Raven a friend, even though Raven has grown to despise her. They often invite Raven to do tasks for them, having trapped their soul in innumerable debts over the years. While the debt ensures the task will be completed, it doesn't specify when, leaving Raven to always have at least one task they're forced to complete.

Jinx prefers to work alone, but will gladly enslave other things to assist if the situation calls for it. They refuse to talk about themself, leaving little room to guess what their end goal might be. Hunters have been aware of her for decades, but none who have seeked her out have come back alive.
