rules are easy; you can disagree with ppl but be respectful, this thread isnt the place for debates. its an opinion thread, not a life or death thread. got it? thanks, loves.

got a music opinion you feel is unpopular? post it here

ill go first; glass animals wouldnt be underrated if yall actually bought their albums instead of pirating that stuff from animation memes

ok have fun im gonna crash now if this thread has been done before rip ill remove this one

I'm tired of pretending Nickelback is bad. And that I don't like country. I've always liked both.

The Weeknd’s new songs are meh

fishiees

I hate most new songs made recently, they all don't really appeal to me that much. I can't stand most artist that could be considered "popular"

metal is annoying

i think funeral is still the best arcade fire album. neon bible and suburbs are very good but just........... idk i feel like funeral is just superior. and anything past reflektor is just okay imo (except for everything now which is just straight up terrible lmao)

zidanetribal

ska is good im dying on this hill. im sorry

Nightcore>Daycore for me too! But some daycore songs do slap, it’s just that not everything needs to be reverbed it doesn’t sound good with most upbeat songs tbh.

nmixx's debut was trash and don't you disagree with me, everything from the mv to the choreo was plagiarized and you know it. plus the outfits? the song itself? they tried to go 'next level' vibe but aespa actually had a song structure. i don't blame the girls, they have talent and lily's out there breaking records but jyp, what the fuck, this isn't your first time pulling this kinda shit :\ but hey, hoping the girls do better in a few months. really disappointing debut, ppl need to stop with song plagiarism. o.o is literally a flaming dumpster.

another thing, wa da da wasn't as bad as y'all make it out to be. :\ ppl are like 'ohh it was rushed and too soon' but imo it's one of my fav debuts.

speaking of debuts, replay by shinee wasn't as GOOD as ppl make it out to be. it's okay but it's definitely quite a bit overhyped. there are better debuts, like exo's mama. skz's district 9 was good too.

on non-kpop, olivia rodrigo = no. absolute no. her music isn't as good as people say it is. imo it's just boring

gayle = glorified billie eilish. abcdefu is GOOD. but still, glorified eyelash.

no hate to any of the artists mentioned <3 the music industry is hard!

I could've sworn I've written in this thread before but turns out I haven't. So here goes.

  • Bohemian Rhapsody is overrated. I understand that the lyrics are deep, but the melody has just never done anything to me. Even the covers.
  • This is coming from a former "I'm superior because I'm a metalhead" person BUT there are no bad music styles, only people with different opinions and all of them are valid. :D
  • Once again, from a former metalhead: There is no such thing as "guilty pleasure" music. You can wear black leather and piercings and listen to Pink. Pink is great. It's fine. It's in the constitution, look it up. What matters isn't the aesthetics or genre of the song but just whether or not you like it.
  • "Modern music" isn't bad, some people are just getting too old to appreciate what the young 'uns are into these days. :D

Off The Ground is probably one of Paul McCartney's best albums and my personal favorite. On the same topic, I feel like Band On The Run is overhyped. It's a great album, don't get me wrong, but I've seen people say it's as good as Abbey Road which I don't really agree with. You always skip Picasso's Last Words like I do, don't lie. Oh and also Temporary Secretary is legitimately a banger don't @ me.

Now for stuff other people actually know about: 99% of modern music on the radio is really bland to me, especially top 40 and stuff like that. I used to listen to a lot of those stations before I discovered the music I like and looking back every song felt so empty and soulless. Either that or incredibly annoying. But idk, maybe I'm just secretly a 70 year old grandpa in disguise. Tbf that would align pretty well with what I listen to. (*goes back to listening to early '60s british invasion rock that all sounds the same admittedly* this is BANGIN)

Lastly, instrumental choruses are bad. I don't know who thought it was a good idea to put repetitive synth rhythms as the chorus for every modern pop song but they're so boring to me most of the time and ruin the buildup. As an example I never liked the song Something Just Like This and unfortunately it was on the radio constantly when I still listened to it. Of course, no shade to people who like it, heck the fact it was played so much just goes to show how unpopular my opinion is, anyway, lol.

I don't like "(song) but only the good part(s)" edits. I'm not talking about people chopping a song for a meme/short video, I'm talking about people posting the edit as is. Half the time it's cutting out build-ups to the drop and imo that takes away from the song.

Also ik it's been mentioned alot but full album listen-throughs are underrated ngl. Ig a lot of albums I've listened to or bought are best enjoyed as a full listen through but still, especially w/seamless playback it hits different

Marshmallow is one of the worst music artists EVER. I can't believe he got so popular off of creating shitty music. It was so bad.. back when he was popular, I'm gonna say 2016-2017ish, artists of course wanted their music to get popular.. so you know what they did? Hired marshmallow onto the track.. and that just ruined any saving grace that the song had left. The song was completely fine up to this point, but now it's been ruined by horrible, awful Pop-EDM music out of left field that absolutely did not belong there. If the artist couldn't get Marshmallow, they'd try to replicate his music, and it still has the same issue with the ones that actually had Marshmallow on it. These songs did not need Pop-EDM tracks especially since a majority of them werent even in the same genre? For example, today I heard a folk song, and it was pretty nice, but then all of a sudden.. Pop-EDM replicating Marshmallow.. in the middle. In the middle of this somber song, you have this shitty upbeat EDM music consisting of the worst sampled noises EVER. Some of Marshmallows stuff is tolerable I guess, but oh lord, he ruined so many songs that he was featured on. I can think of so many songs off the top of my head that was perfectly fine, but out of nowhere, horrible Marshmallow-esc EDM. What the fuck was that? It was the worst year for music when Marshmallow was the most popular music artist.. mfg

Acoustic versions of popular songs make me scream. Especially when it is more played that the original song. Ruins the vibe. If I wanted shape of you to be played with some ukulele in the background I’d listen to Coffee House ffs
